Wailua Bay View condo description
If you're looking for an oceanfront 1 bdrm/1 bath condo in paradise...with an unobstructed whitewater view from the private lanai...check our calendar and book now!
This November our condo bathroom is being completely upgraded: a walk-in shower with tile surround, tile flooring, custom cabinets, Caesarstone vanity top, and all new fixtures. Our contractors are the same team that recently completed 2 condo renovations here at Wailua Bay View, one of which was featured on HGTV House Hunters!
This fall the swimming pool/BBQ area at Wailua Bay View was completely redone, including the decking, interior pool tiles and turtle mosaics! We will post pictures soon!
Read our fabulous reviews- after just over a year on VRBO we've received 24! Our guests have also submitted several stellar reviews on Trip Advisor’s Wailua Bay View page as well. We've been privileged to host guests at our condo visiting Hawaii for the very first time, or they've returned to Kauai to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, or have a dream beach wedding. Just recently two of our returning guests became newly engaged!
You'll enjoy the soothing sound of the surf, panoramic ocean and coastline views, and gorgeous Hawaiian sun and moon rises! From the private lanai you'll see turtles, dolphins, and whales (in season). Our totally non-smoking unit (#214) is located on the quiet end of the complex, next-to-last on the end furthest from the road noise. Its location on the second floor catches the trade winds, and is safe and secure.
We want our guests to enjoy our condo as much as we do during our twice yearly visits, so we continually make updates. Notice the comments we get in our reviews on how comfortable the King size bed is, thanks to the memory foam mattress topper and high-end linens and pillows. A new A/C unit keeps the bedroom the perfect temp for sleeping, the plantation shutters and sound-dampening blackout curtains keep it quiet and dark.
In the kitchen we've installed a new glass top stove, upgraded lighting and every pan or utensil you could possibly need. In the living room, we've just completed having the sofa, loveseat, and dining chairs all reupholstered in traditional Hawaiian Bark Cloth! (See the pics!) The sofa bed has a brand new mattress, with new linens, pillows and blankets. Earlier this year we replaced the carpeting on the very private lanai, and added new furniture, including a lounger! You can sit on your lanai, overlooking the waves, at the table or high bar seating. I dare you to find a better oceanfront table at any restaurant!
For your island adventures, you’ll find coolers, beach chairs, beach umbrella, swim towels, water shoes, and snorkel gear. There's a Vizio HD TV in the living room and in the bedroom, a DVD player, and a CD player/IPod dock.
We continually update our Guest Binder with recommendations for restaurants, tours, and boat trips we have personally experienced. We included a list of the Farmer’s Markets on Kauai; there’s even one twice a week (Tuesday/Thursday) at the nearby Coconut Marketplace, a short 5 minute walk north.
Ke Ala Hele Makalae, the Kauai bike path, has just opened the section at Wailua Bay! From Lydgate Park, just south of the condos, you can walk or ride bikes for about 8 miles, up to Donkey Beach. One small section in Kapaa town is not completed yet, however you can pass through on the road to the next bike path section. Rent bikes and see some of the most spectacular scenery in the whole U. S.!
Kapaa was recently named one of the 15 prettiest towns in the nation, by Forbes Magazine. This on top of Tripadvisor naming Kauai the #2 island, you can't go wrong with a vacation in Kauai!
Our use of an on-island management company, Condominium Rentals Hawaii, to process payments and send confirmation emails, gives you peace of mind. They're always just a phone call away if you have any concerns while you're vacationing. A $350 deposit holds your dates, with the remaining balance due 30 days prior to your trip. We never charge any other fees or deposits.
Mahalo for visiting our site! We hope you have a restful, comfortable and memorable Hawaiian holiday!

There's a long beach walking path to the north, with access to a keiki pool, and a sacred heiau (ancient Hawaiian temple). There is no beach path directly in front of the complex (see photo), but that means you will not have your lanai view interfered by seeing other tourists! Wailua Bay View is all about the 'bay view'! And although you can swim in Wailua Bay, it is known for swells and riptides. Not for novices! That's why the local surfers and bodyboarders love it, and they are fun to watch!...moreless

Very scenic, wonderful condo
Very scenic, wonderful condo
We rented this condo for our anniversary trip in October 2013. Needless to say the island is beautiful and lush, and the condo itself is in a very ideal location. Literally right next to the beach, with a wonderful view of the sunrise (which you'll likely see since it's in a different time zone!). You're close to many shopping centers and restaurants, as well. It's a beautiful, wondrous place that is sure to delight everyone. Great furniture and interior as well.

Owner response: What a perfect place to spend an anniversary! Glad you had a wonderful time, and we'd love to host you again. Thanks for noticing the interior, we work hard to keep everything in tip-top shape. In fact, we just had all the furniture recovered, and a complete bathroom renovation is almost finished. The Most Relaxing Week
The Most Relaxing Week
My husband and I stayed at Jim and Crystal's awesome condo #214 for a recent Kauai stay during a particularly busy season in our lives. We were really looking forward to the rest and recoup we knew the island could afford us. We did not assume, however, the condo to be a huge part of our rest and recoup thinking we would be out and about so often. We were very wrong! Entering the unit we were bombarded by amazing sights and smells of pure island paradise. This unit was spectacular. The porch doors were open when we got there to let in the light and sound of rushing waves which continued to sooth us throughout our stay. The condo was so adorably decorated with appropriate island themed everything-the furniture, the dvd's, the cd's the lamps, the pictures, the dishes, the bed linens-everything. It was also fully stocked with absolutely anything you could think of. The hutch had a tv with movies-many of which were filmed on the island. There were games, books and Hawaiian cd's with player. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the comforts of home. When we got there there were even many non-perishable ingredients remaining in cupboards and the frige (like mayo, mustard, bbq sauce, tea, spices) which made shopping more convenient since those things can be expensive when you're using them for only a week (food here is very expensive ANYway FYI!). The bedroom had a dresser to use and many hangers. It also had the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! Between the pillow-topped bed and the sound of waves all night we felt well rested very quickly. The condo also came with many things you wouldn't expect like beach chairs, snorkel fins, binoculars, coolers, beach towels etc. There was nothing we needed that we couldn't find there. The location was perfect. It was pretty central to everything we were interested in and was walking distance to interesting shops and grocery stores. It was also right on the beach so it was fun watching the surfers/paddleboarders right outside our porch! Jim and Crystal have taken great care in making sure their unit is comfortable for all their guests. They have definitely gone the extra mile thinking of the littlest details in order to make a guest's stay successful. They are also easy to contact in case questions arise. We will definitely be back to unit #214 at the Wailua BayView.

Owner response: So glad you enjoyed the condo, and found it so homey and inviting, with a tropical flair! That view is breathtaking, isn't it? There's nothing like falling to sleep to the sound of those waves! It sounds like you took full advantage of the great location, we also love being able to walk across the street for great restaurants, or a little further for shopping, etc. We'd love to host you again sometime!! 10th aniversary in Kauai
10th aniversary in Kauai
My wife and I rented this condo for out 10th anniversary and it did not let us down. The view was stunning and Wailua beach was beautiful but never crowded. The condo is very well kept and well equipped. It even had snorkel gear which saved us some money on having to rent some. The condo also had a variety of spices and condiments included which just added to the overall comfortable feeling of the condo. The condo owners went above and beyond (Thank you!) to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They were extremely responsive in terms of communication and sincerely wanted us to enjoy the condo and area as much as they do...and we did! We rented bikes from "Kauai Bike Rentals" in Kapa'a for a good rate and rode them down the bike trail along the coast almost every day. There are at least four fantastic restaurants that are walking distance from the condo. Also, check out the Kono Market in Kapa'a for some amazing local cuisine at an affordable price. We rode our bikes there several times. We were also able to walk to Wailau river and rent a Kayak, then Kayak down the river and hike to the waterfall. The condo is in a perfect location to explore all parts of the island. We went hiking and snorkeling in the north one day, then went surfing and sight seeing in the south the next day. If you have a vehicle, check out the Waimea Canyon. You really have to see it since the experience can't be adequately put into words. It is well worth the drive. My wife and I had an amazing vacation and I would recommend this condo to anyone. Remember to give yourself lots of time at the airport when you are departing. We found the line ups to be slow and disorganized but as long as you give yourself lots of leeway, it's not an issue.

The condo was absolutely perfect. This condo had a perfect view of the sunrise every morning. The cost of the taxi was reasonable to get to the condo. There is a Shell station right across the road which is perfect for fueling up on your daily adventures and right before returning the rental car. The condo is in excellent condition along with a very nice set of washer/dryer and anything you could possibly need except the food. It made us feel like you were right at home in your island get-a-way. The property is very well maintained and there is a nice pool that you can take a dip in to get refreshed. The grills are very nice to be able to cook out on in this area, as well. The condo is perfectly located to be able for your trips to the different sides of the island or to grab something to eat. Just minutes away from being able to hike up the Sleeping Giant or to attend the Smith's luau, as well. I would highly recommend this condo and would love to come back someday!

Owner response: Thanks for the great review! Glad you enjoyed the beautiful sunrises, and felt right at home! It's our goal to keep the condo in excellent condition, so truly all you have to bring is your own food. It's so much more welcoming than a worn-out hotel room. Come back soon! Love this great condo!! Jim and Crystal have made #214 a real home. It is sparkling clean with absolutely everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is missing nothing....it even has BBQ tools. A closet contains beach towels, cooler, bags for beach things..even sunscreen. You will find movies, CDs, books, tour guide material, Internet connection and even binoculars. The bed is a Five Star...soooo comfy!! Great beach within a few steps and a wonderful pool. The condo is centrally located on the East Shore with places to go in all directions. The view from the balcony is spectacular. The ocean is right there! We would always return to this same place.

Absolute Paradise! Hard to leave!
Absolute Paradise! Hard to leave!
There are not enough superlatives for this particular rental! We've rented oceanfront condos in many places, to include other islands of Hawaii. But this one is easily the best, and the most memorable. We would choose to come back to Kauai just for this condo. We were deciding between this condo and one on Maui. We chose this one because we’d never been to Kauai (it was on the Bucket List), and because Crystal and Jim were significantly more proactive in securing our business. The condo is a pretty standard 1/1 layout that we've seen in Hawaii. But that’s where “the usual” stops. The complex was built in 1971 (if our research is correct), but you would never know it, pulling up. It is so well kept on the outside! Then the condo… well, it was amazing. We walked in the door and straight out to the lanai, thanks to the incredible views. Hubby said, “So, are we going to get to see the island, or are you going to be out here the entire time?” The fact that the owners are proactive with updates, with cleaning, and with making sure everything is in good working order, put this condo above a few we've visited. A condo on the ocean is a “score” for any owner. Making the effort to keep it nice: priceless! For me, the waves are the single most important thing when looking for somewhere to stay. Hubby teased that this is the sleepiest condo we've ever rented, as the waves and breeze had me yawning all the time. Seems to me, that is the ultimate definition of “relaxed”. We did get out and explore the island. Hubby was drawn more to the west side. I was more drawn to the east side, and then on up to Hanalei. Absolutely stunning. The Kilauea Lighthouse took my breath away. I maxed out more than one memory card for my digital camera! Our stay seemed to fly by. When the day came to pack up, it was nearly impossible to leave. (We joked about “squatters’ rights”!) I am always sad to leave Hawaii. But this was probably the hardest departure ever. And the core of that is because the condo was so wonderful. Thank you so much for accommodating us! We couldn't have made a better decision. The price is so reasonable compared to everything else. The location was spectacular. No detail was overlooked within the condo. And we have never been so relaxed on a trip. Mahalo, Crystal and Jim! P.S. If the day comes you want to sell, call us! :-)

A Wonderful Family Holiday
A Wonderful Family Holiday
We had a wonderful stay at your home in Kauai'i. The condominium was perfect! The bed was extremely comfortable for a lovely nights of sleep after our days of exploration. Our 10 year old son found the sofa bed perfect as well. What an amazing view from the lanai, and the sound of the surf is lovely. The location was wonderful and a good base for exploration. The pool was delightful. When we weren't grilling our dinner poolside, we enjoyed the few restaurants that were across the street, and it was perfect to be able to walk to them...pizza, Thai and Mexican. We enjoyed the town of Kapa'a and had a nice bike ride along the path. We explored the beaches both north and south and still managed to hike a bit in the canyon as well as kayak early one morning up the Waimea River and walk to the waterfall. I can't think of anything that was missing in the condominium. It was just wonderful to have use of a washer and dryer along with use of the beach chairs, cooler, and a boogie board. Thank you again, and our family hopes to visit again soon.

Owner response: So glad you were pleased, and found all you needed to have a fantastic vacation! Not surprising your son liked the sofabed in the living room, he was even closer to the sound of the surf. What makes for a better nights sleep, than a comfortable bed and the ocean in the background! It truly is a very special island, and we'd be happy to have you back anytime! Mahalo, Crystal and Jim

Great Condo and View
Our stay at this condo was everything that was advertised. The unit was clean and stocked with everything that was needed for our stay. The view was fantastic from the Lanai. We left the sliding door open every night so we could listen to the waves. Shopping and restaurants are within walking distance. I would definitely rent this unit again

Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: My husband and I grew up in Northern California, and we love the ocean! Fortunately his 20 year naval career allowed us to often live near water; on both coasts and 2 countries in Europe. We've been blessed with the opportunity to travel extensively, and stay in many different types of accommodations, the good and the not so good! We know what works! From our first trip together to the Hawaiian Islands on Valentine’s Day 2007, we were captivated! After touring all the main islands during several visits, we started to search for the 'perfect' oceanfront condo. We found Wailua Bay View #214! Our goal with our vacation home is to continually improve, update, and maintain it as perfectly as possible, not only for our own visits, but also for the comfort of our guests. The island of Kauai is known for incomparable beauty, rich lush landscapes, and pristine reefs. It offers diverse adventure, in an uncrowded atmosphere. It hearkens back to the Hawaii of old, before tourism was widespread. We’re happy to share our condo, and spread the Aloha!
Why the Owner Chose Wailua Bay View:
Wailua Bay View Unit 214 offers the oceanfront location we love, with privacy and convenience. It allows you to enjoy real Hawaii, with all the comforts of home!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Within seconds of walking into this condo, as you approach the sliding doors to the lanai, you will experience the breezes, the roar of the surf, and the wide open ocean in front of you! You'll watch surfers, paddle boarders, and the occasional turtle bobbing in the waves. At night, you'll be lulled to dreamland by the sound of the crashing waves. The moon rising and reflecting off the water will be stunning! (Try to come during a full moon!) You will feel right at home, and won't want to leave!
