Luana Hideaway; the Perfect Big Island Hawaiian Experience.
- Minimum stay:3-5 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
LUANA (In Hawaiian means “to be at leisure, enjoy pleasant surroundings, live in comfort”) HIDEAWAY is just the place to experience the” Real Old Hawaii”, at its best in the pleasant and relaxing surroundings of the micro-climate of Kapoho, where it is almost always Warm and Sunny with gentle Trade Wind breezes, that makes this Paradise all so very wonderful and comfortable year around. Kapoho Beach Lots is still that well-kept secret quiet spot.
ONCE YOU ENTER THROUGH THE GATE OF YOUR PRIVATE OASIS, you will be welcomed by the large covered breezeway and lanai, which includes 3 lounging areas, a large dining area and of course most importantly your own inviting and completely private natural warm pond, for your swimming pleasure. Fully privacy fenced, the very Stylish Luana Hideaway is your own special Kapoho retreat, with Champagne Pond just around the corner.
THE BEDROOMS are all comfortable and each one offers a unique experience. The Master Suite includes a Queen size bed and en-suite bathroom with a full tub behind elegant shoji doors. The Guest Bedroom in the main house has two Twin size beds and lovely garden views. The third bedroom is located in a private, separate studio on the other side of the covered lanai, and has another Queen size bed. (if all 3 bedrooms are used, the cleaning fee may be higher) A full second bathroom is located off the hallway of the main house.
THE BEAUTIFUL, CUSTOM KITCHEN is equipped with high end appliances and everything you'll need to cook fresh Hawaiian produce and fish! The kitchen is open to the indoor living room, so the cook can enjoy the flat screen TV entertainment while he/she cooks. The sectional sofa is comfortable for your complete relaxation. Highspeed wireless internet, DVD player, CD player and iPod dock are all also available for you. The owner of the property has taken great care to create a luxurious experience for guests. This is not a party house, the owner lives just down the street, this is a tasteful well-appointed home and we endeavor to keep it that way, for your enjoyment.
PAHOA VILLAGE is about a 12 minute drive from Luana Hideaway and has several wonderful restaurants, if you don't feel like cooking. Try Hawaiian fusion at Kaleo's, Mexican grinds at Luquin's or wonderful Thai at Ning's, one of our favorites! Visit Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park about 45 minutes away or visit the flowing and glowing lava in Kalapana about 30 minutes is SO much to do here!
Rates start at $125 a night for two guests and vary depending on season and size of party, cleaning fee is $125-$175 and damage waiver of $35 (one time).

Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I can't say enough good about the Luana Hideaway - it far surpassed our dreams. The house and yard are both lovingly tended and have a calming, peaceful ambience. The beds are very comfortable. It was squeaky clean and very well appointed. The kitchen was well equipped with high quality cookware, appliances, dishes, and eating utensils. There was even a burr-grinder for coffee - so that you can appreciate the local coffees to their fullest extent. We cooked most nights we were here. The owner clearly honors the island - there was a library stocked with in-depth information on the flora and fauna of the island, the Hawaiian language, the people. local history... so appreciated. We used the outdoor shower a lot. Appreciated the fruit trees and vegetable garden. The accommodations were very spacious for our family of four - six would fit easily. The listing reflects the house, - although the charm and expansiveness goes beyond what you see in the photos. The Champagne pond is just a minute's walk away, while the Wai O'pae (Kapoho) Tide Pools are a 3 minute drive away. The Wai Opae tide pools, a 3-minute drive, provided the best snorkeling that we experienced anywhere on the island (for us even surpassing the crowded Place of Refuge/Honaunau Bay). We enjoyed the nearby Lava Tree State Park for its lovely foliate. There is easy access to Volcanoes National Park. We really enjoyed nearby Pahoa - Ning's Thai is really great, as is the small surf shop, and the farmers' market. We spent half our vacation here and the other half on the west side of the island. While the sandy beaches on the west side are very fun, this is the place that will stick in our memories; we appreciated not being part of the overwhelming resort scene. Thank you, Kathy, for the use of your lovely home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Kapoho Beach Lots is my favorite place to stay in Puna and I have enjoyed several properties in this development but none have been as exquisitely detailed as Luana Hideaway. This vacation rental is in excellent condition and is extremely clean. The owner has spared no expense! The furniture, design, and accessories are very tasteful, comfortable and create a wonderful ambiance. The silverware, plates, cookware are all top-notch. The property is extremely private and very secure. While many ponds in the development are shared, this property has its own small pond that is not. The well-known, very large "Champagne Pond" is a minutes walk away. Whether you are looking for a well-located property to use as a base for day-trip excursions or someplace to just settle in and "chill", this vacation rental is truly ideal.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Thank you for your beautiful home which you shared with us this last November. We do apologize for the late reply as things were somewhat hectic when we arrived back in Winnipeg just in time for - 35 degrees below zero weather. Alas, we have found our paradise on the Big I., namely, Luana Hideaway. The art work is wonderful, and it was no coincidence that you have a drawing of the "3 Kahunas" in the detached bungalow. Ah, a Blessing for Us Indeed! Every inside and outside area is absolutely exquisite, every aspect of our time spent at Luana Hideaway was sublime. An escape and a spiritual oneness happening simultaneously for us. The kitchen was so modern and comes with every convenience from home, though some gadgets which were new to us sent us hunting for the same item when we got back to Winnipeg. The bedroom's were beautifully appointed and evoked a Zen feeling. The living room or gathering area is just so comfy and relaxing with all of the necessary electronics, such a perfect accompaniment to the excellent reading materials anyone would want or need. Your garden and tide pool were so immaculately appointed, clean and pure. The variety of produce was amazing, passion fruit, chilli peppers, eggplant and even pineapple, not to mention the herb garden. We really can not say enough without gushing out all over. it seems as though we have lived at Luana Hideaway all of our lives. The home is suitable for every possible imaginable retreat or family vacation. We will be back to see our beautiful family of mo'o s. Much aloha to you and again, thank you for the care and love which you have poured into this paradise on earth. A hui hou! …..Mahalo a nui loa,Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: In addition to a welcome card, we were made to feel very at home with a personal call from the owner on the evening we arrived to ensure that we were happy! Also, we were delighted to find a few basics in the cupboard. All top end kitchen appliances and utensils and spotlessly clean. Located within 15 mins drive of boat harbour for trips to see lava flows into the ocean which is extremely handy when a 4am start is required for the dawn excursion.Did you find this review helpful? From the moment we arrived at Luana Hideaway, I knew it was going to be an amazing week. With two kids in tow (8 and 5 years), it was obvious from the moment we saw them that the hot springs in the back yard of the property were going to be a hit for everyone! Not to mention the fabulous house which was wonderfully kitted-out with everything you could need or want for a great family vacation. The kitchen was brilliant and had many more in the way of appliances and cooking equipment than you would ever expect for a vacation rental. The owner had supplied all the snorkelling and water equipment (floating day beds etc) that you could ever want - which meant that the kids spent hours a day frolicking in the volcano-heated thermal spa in the back yard - with crystal clear waters and at about body temperature, it was truly amazing. We also did lots of exploring in the surrounding neighbourhoods, and stood on a live volcano and even saw a lava-flow. Very cool. The three bedrooms were beautifully furnished with very comfortable beds. My only problem was that our holiday at Luana Hideaway wasn't long enough! We will book for longer next time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: Hawaii has called me thrice. I first discovered this secret bit of paradise in 2006, on the last leg of a trip from Australia, where I had lived for 24 years. In 2009 it all came back to me, when I decided that I needed to purchase a holiday rental for my own retreats (sanity) from too much work. I love Old Hawaii, the uniqueness of this area and the wonderful year round perfect micro-climate here. When I sold my business in 2011 happily but unexpectedly; it seemed my plans were already laid out for me, with a home here waiting (Honu’s Hideaway) as Hawaii called me again for the third and final time when I moved here permanently. My guests had so enjoyed the house and requests to rent it continued to come in. Frankly I did not yet know how to completely relax, so when my neighbor’s house just 2 doors down came up for sale and now with all the time in the world and a knack for remodeling and some experience, I decided to purchase it and turn it (Luana Hideaway) into the great entertaining and lounging house. Well the best laid plans of mice and men, can and do go astray; when I eventually realized that I was really cut out to be a farm girl with lots of space for gardening and for me and my dogs, as I had been living for the last 12 years. In 2012 I purchased a lush tropical 4 acre farm 10 minutes away, so now I have the best of both worlds; I have my farm lifestyle and when there are check outs or vacancies, I get to come and enjoy relaxing in the warm ponds. I am glad I can share this wonderful experience with you and the bounty of my garden. A hui hou, Kathy Young
