Upachaya Eco-Lodge is rented as a 1 - 5 bedroom home. We can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests. We have 5 bedroom suites, each with their own bath. Four of the rooms can accommodate 2 people, and the 5th room is a family room, which can accommodate up to 4 people. Take over the entire first floor of the lodge and you have intersecting doors between each unit, which is idea for a family, or partying with friends.
Each room is beautifully built with local hardwoods, granite counter tops and custom tile in the bathrooms, ceiling fans, and A/C.
Upachaya offers everything from water adventures to yoga, and spa treatments onsite. It is located a short kayak/boat ride from the Meso-American Barrier Reef - the 2nd largest in the world where you will find unspoiled snorkeling. You can rent kayaks for a mangrove/snorkel tour, charter the pontoon boat for a snorkel tour, or sunset cruise, or even a day trip exploring the island from the seaside.
Are you planning on diving or fishing? Make arrangements to be picked up from the private dock, the only one in all of Man O'War Harbor. This harbor is home of some of the best Red Snapper and flats fishing on the island. You will find Permit and Bone fish along with a variety of reef fish. Or, grab your pole and fish from the dock.
If relaxation is what you want, kick back in a hammock swinging in the gardens, or lounge around the pool/bar. Join in for one of the weekday yoga or Pilates classes, taught by an IKYTA (International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association) Certified Instructor.
This lodge offers free breakfast daily, and there is also a meal plan, which can be purchased providing three healthy meals daily. Or, simply order off the menu ala carte. Many of the items on the menu are found growing in the organic gardens at Upachaya.
Upachaya is just 3 miles from Coxen Hole, the city center of the Municipality of Roatan, and 7 miles from West End where you will find abundant nightlife, and a host of additional restaurants.
Upachaya is an ideal location for those that choose to get away from the chaos of city life and very active crowded resorts. Yet, Upachaya is close enough to the nightlife, and beaches should you choose to incorporate that in your stay as well.
Just down the road approximately 1/4 mile you will find a spectacular Arboretum complete with hiking trails throughout their 160+ acre farm. They offer birding watching hikes, as well as have nature trails for exploring the island on your own.
Upachaya is perfect for an intimate getaway, or bring the family, or friends, and take over the entire lodge.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: I left Corporate America in 2006 and moved to Roatan to pursue a different lifestyle. I have no regrets, this is where I belong, living the island life, enjoying my surroundings, playing in my gardens, teaching yoga, and offering a space for others to come and enjoy the serenity, beauty, and adventure that this island has to offer.
Why the Owner Chose Roatan:
I built Upachaya here on Roatan understanding the close proximity to the states, with just a 2 1/2 hour flight out of Houston. Living here is like stepping back in time, life at a slower pace, yet having all the modern conveniences you desire.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Upachaya offers spectacular views of Man O'War Harbor, the mangroves and beyond to the reef. I chose to build here away from the hub bub of the crowded resorts and touristy areas so people can really get away, yet are close enough (15 minute ride) to those areas with an abundance of restaurants, and nightlife.
