We stayed here on our annual ladies weekend away. The home is beautiful and very spacious. The pictures don’t do it justice! We enjoyed it so much that we’re interested in coming back again next fall. It was nice having Jana meet us at the home to show us around and show us how everything worked. Her attention to detail is amazing. The house was beautifully decorated for the season. Another thing we noticed is the home is very sound proof. With the bedrooms on the second floor, the noise from the main floor doesn't carry upstairs. This is nice for those wanting to go to bed early or sleep in late. Overall this was a perfect home for our group of ladies. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Great weekened getaway!
Great weekened getaway!
Overall the Spicer house was a wonderful experience. The house had an amazingly well-stocked kitchen with about every gadget you can think of and towels everywhere. The house was nicely decorated with fall decor and was immediately relaxing and welcoming. Plus, the lot was perfectly secluded and the bonfire was great. The location was close to some great activities: boutiques, restaurants, winery, orchard, etc. Great garage situation for activities when it rained as well. The house seemed to still be a work in progress, but the main level was stunning, the owners are taking great care in finishing the home, beautiful. The only negative aspects: there were no window coverings in the bedrooms and two of the beds were so uncomfortable people had to try to move them to the floor to get any sleep and avoid the back pain from the night before. This is a great location for adults, however would not be somewhere to bring children if you wanted them to be able to go outside, the yard situation would be dangerous for young children. Overall it was a beautiful, spacious home and a great location for a fall weekend getaway. I'd absolutely recommend this home for friend/group gatherings.

Owner response: Brit, thanks for your kind words. I am happy to hear you had a great time! I would like to respond to a couple of the "negative aspects" you brought up in your review. We have had several hundred guests over the last year and have not had any complaints about the comfort level of the beds until now. In fact, quite the opposite but we will take a look at all the beds immediately. Perhaps you could give me a call or send me an email and let me know which beds to look at? You also bring up a great point about young children. While I disagree that it is not a place to bring small children, I do agree that if you tend to leave small children "unattended" this is not the vacation home for you! There are places outdoors where small children can fall (retaining walls, embankments, grass, etc.), and also a large wooded area around the property that provides a "getting lost" hazard. We hope our home will always be a "work in progress" so that we can continue to provide new things for our guests. Thanks again.
We had a golf/bachelor party over the weekend of sept 27 and 28. When all the guys and I pulled into the driveway we couldn't believe our eyes, but that's not even the best part. Our jaws dropped when we stepped inside. The pictures online are good, but do not do the house justice. The running lights that go through out the house were very useful and the colors compliment the granite and cupboard. Twin ovens allowed us to make quick work of pizzas at night and the gas range was out of an iron chef tv show. Six burner propane grill fit 24 1/3 pound burgers with no problem. Now the upstairs, wow, space galore. The master bath was something my wife would kill for. A giant tiled rain shower with steam option to compliment a jetted tub made would make any couple happy during a romantic night. If you wanted some popcorn during your bath, no worries, just pop it in the microwave in bathroom and munch away. We had 10 guys in the house and we could've had double and been fine with the space. The property exceeded my expectations in every way. I am looking forward to bringing my wife and kids up for a family vacation next summer. Thank again Jana

Gracious, spacious and perfect!
Gracious, spacious and perfect!
Their home was sweetly offered up for our family get together and it was perfect! Room to all gather, room for many to prepare food, cozy touches and a gracious hostess! Things were clean and though still being finished in some realms, very nice for us. We enjoyed swimming at two nearby lake beaches and privacy in this home. The home was just what was promised and what we were hoping for.

Everything you needed
Everything you needed
Our family of 20 stayed here to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. There was plenty of space for everyone. We have stayed at many rentals and this gorgeous home has everything you need, not just enough to scrape by. The kitchen is well-supplied with utensils, appliances, pots, pans, and roasters. It seemed like every time we asked, "I wonder if they have...?", they did! The attention to detail that went in to finishing this home is amazing. There are all kinds of nice little touches. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the covered deck and sun-filled sitting room. A little more fridge space would have been appreciated, but we made do with being a little creative. We got to see a doe and her two fawns exploring the yard which thrilled the kids (and adults). Jana was a superb hostess before and during our stay. We didn't need anything while we were there, but she checked on us just in case.

Couples Trip Perfect Venue
Couples Trip Perfect Venue
Me and five buddies from HS, took our wives to stay at Jana's beautiful home. We were lucky that no one had booked the house for the week so we got a nice 3 night stay. Had a room for each couple, which worked out great. The house is amazing, and the kitchen to cook meals was a dream. I loved seeing the deer in the morning having a cup of coffee and playing ping pong in the garage. The location to Spicer, Green Lake public access and Little Crow Golf Course is great. Everything is within a 5 minute drive. I'd probably say the best part is the seclusion this house offers. Its tucked away in the woods, with beautiful wildlife and privacy. For those of us that wanted to stay up late, have a fire, play some music, we had no worries about disturbing anyone. Would highly recommend for families, couples, or getaways for friends.

Owner response: Thanks for the great review Kelli! I am glad you and your friends enjoyed your stay. Thanks for leaving the house so clean! Hope to see you again sometime. Jana
This place is one of the best that our group has ever stayed at! Like several of the other reviewers mentioned, the house is much better than you can tell from the pictures. It's roomy, clean, and has everything you'd need for a large group, especially all the cookware. And most of all, Jana is a wonderful hostess. Couldn't have asked for more!

Just stayed there for a couples retreat (6 Couples). Plenty of room. The pictures do not do justice to this home. I have booked many vacation/retreats using VRBO and this is hands down the nicest place I've ever booked. Jana is a super host.

Home for the Holidays
Home for the Holidays
We recently returned from a week long stay at this beautiful home. It certainly exceeded our expectations! The home was immaculate and well-equipped. The lovely and very large open design of the main floor was perfect for us to gather as a family, play games & music, do puzzles, cook and enjoy meals together - heavenly! The 6 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms upstairs provided plenty of privacy and room for all. We loved cross country skiing at nearby Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center - complete with rentals and perfectly groomed trails. Jana has been wonderful to work with and even volunteered to ship some things we left behind! All in all, a great experience!
