Very clean, comfortable place. The pictures and description of cabin are very accurate. Inside is actually nicer than the pictures. Just a few steps down to the beach. The beach is very pretty, yes there are rocks, just wear shoes. Nice walking beach, ( it was too cold to be in the water while we were there, except for our dog, who had an amazing time in the lake) Great sunsets. Nice outside deck with deck furniture. The street to the cabin has very little traffic and nice for bike riding or walking with some nice views. We seemed to be the only ones on this stretch of beach, we never saw another person. Enjoyed the fireplace. The upstairs bedroom is very cozy, romantic. The decor is tasteful. Appliances are well maintained. There is only one close restaurant (Leggs?) The grocery store that is attached to the gas station is very well stocked and the owners were very helpful with local info. A nice drive down route 119. Runs along the coast and the changing leaves were gorgeous. Stopped at a little store Good Hart? maybe, that was on that route also. Nice owner, good pastries. We enjoyed our stay even though it was cold and very windy the cabin remained cozy. Thank you for allowing our dog to stay with us, she loved it.Recommended for: Pet owners, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Ina! Please come back next year!

Sommerset is ideally located to take advantage of many of Northern Michigan's best offerings. Located within minutes of Harbor Springs, Mackinac City and literally next to my favorite Michigan beach, Wilderness State Park. The cabin is every bit as nice as the photos indicate, in fact nicer. We set out on a different adventure everyday and our only regret is that there is so much to do, we didn't have enough time to spend in the actual cabin. The owners were great to work with and all arrangements and accommodations were exactly as promised. I would absolutely return for another stay and I have no reservations in recommending this property.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks Sean!

My family and I stayed here July 14th for a week, and had a great time. It was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed to feel at home. All the furniture appeared to be new. The house sits right on the lake facing west, and has a beautiful sunset view. We especially enjoyed having a drink on the deck and watching the sun go down. During our stay there was an intense solar storm, and we got to see the northen lights out on the beach, which was absolutely amazing. There is no light pollution here, so you can see the stars in all their glory. This house is very secluded, and actually sits at the end of a dead end street, so it's very quiet. There is no a/c, but we had all the windows open, and had a nice lake breeze blowing through the house. One piece of advice, get your groceries before arriving. The closest full grocery store that we found was in Harbor Springs about 18 miles away. There was a restaraunt in town (Leggs) which has great sandwiches, and they have outside seating overlooking the lake, really nice. Lastly there is no internet, which was a bit of a bummer, but the owner ( who was very friendly by the way) tells me she is looking into getting it. All in all, the house was great . You won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Greg!
