Bordering a vast forest preserve, Catawba Falls presents gated acreage home sites with stunning views of the Pisgah National Forest. You'll feel a thousand miles away in your mountainside dream vacation home, yet you'll be minutes from the culture, careers and conveniences of Asheville and Black Mountain. There are numerous hiking trails, streams and rivers, and waterfalls nearby. Wildlife is abundant in the Preserve. The most common animals that you may encounter are deer, wild turkey, rabbits, birds, fox, and black bears. Of course, there is absolutely no hunting in the Preserve.
Why the owners chose Black Mountain for their mountain getaway:
I started the first of many adventures in the mountains of North Carolina in 1979 when I walked thought the gates of Camp Ridgecrest for Boys located just five minutes from Black Mountain, NC. That year started an annual summer tradition of hiking, camping, paddling and clean mountain living that lasted until 1987. After that year, I returned to the Black Mountain area for many summers to attend various camp type reunions and hiking trips. These return trips to the mountains were always a yearly highlight, but over time, the trips became less and less to eventually none at all. However, in 2006, my oldest son enrolled at Camp Ridgecrest for Boys and the return to the hills once again awakened many long forgotten memories. The cool fresh air, the lush green mountains, the deer, the turkey, and the cool, crisp mountain mornings instantly reignited a long forgotten passion for the area. That same summer we decided to build a cabin so my wife and I could be in the mountains while our son was attending camp. After touring many of the areas various available properties, we discovered the beautiful development of Catawba Falls Preserve and the building soon began. We currently have three boys who all attend Camp Ridgecrest and we have an awesome retreat buried deep in the mountains complete with a clear water stream and waterfall. However, be forewarned, once the sights and smells of the mountains of N.C gets into your blood, you will never again be the same!

This luxurious cabin in the beautiful Black Mountain area is truly a peaceful retreat! It is very quiet and private and offers several areas to "chill." This spacious house is perfect for large groups with a separate area downstairs for the kids to hang out. The open kitchen and living area is great for entertaining. There are decks off the back of the house with comfortable chairs and rockers which offer a great place to read a book or visit with friends. The sound of the waterfall, which is just down the hill in the back, is the perfect backdrop to help you relax. The furnishing are beautiful yet comfortable. I enjoyed the fireplace at night after a long day of activites. This house offers everything you need. I love the location. It is a fifteen minute drive to the charming downtown of Black Mountain. There are several places to eat and shop. A new grocery store is perfectly located as you head up the mountain as well as Chesire Village which offers gormet foods and wine. I enjoyed visiting Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Asheville, Hendersonville and Grandfather Mountain. I highly recommend this property!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Homeowners, Your cabin is amazing! Ourselves and another family vacationed in your home last June when taking our girls to camp, and we had an awesome time. The home is spacious with beautiful yet comfortable furnishings. The kids loved having their own place downstairs to watch TV and play games or ping pong. The adults enjoyed sitting on the back porch rockers watching the sun set over the mountains with a nice bottle of wine. It was very relaxing. Our favorite part was taking the path down the back yard to the waterfall - our kids played in the water for hours. It was also nice how close the cabin is to everything - if we felt like eating in, we grabbed food from the nearby grocery store and cooked or grilled-- the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare a meal. Or, some nights we headed out to the cute shops and restarurants nearby -- our favorite being the farm-to-table restaurant "Black Bird" in the Cheshire Village. It was a perfect vacation and we look forward to staying in your home again. Thank you! :) The McGibany FamilyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This home is PERFECT for your mountain get-away! It is wonderfully designed and easily accommodated our trip with multiple families. The kids loved the play room and bunk areas downstairs, while the parents could relax upstairs. There was plenty of comfortable seating outside on the decks to relax and enjoy the spectacular mountain views. There is ample space around the house to hike and explore, including an awesome waterfall! We enjoyed great food at the nearby restaurants of Black Mountain. This place was tough to leave! Enjoy!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
