Leading from the kitchen a convenient and ultra-modern toilet is situated and also not forgetting one of the highlights of the property which is a light and luxuriously modern lake view living room, comprising 2 large leather cream sofas and equipped with a remote control operated fireplace, large wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD player. Sliding doors with electric blinds lead off from the living room to a breathtaking lake view garden with covered terrace which offers a very comfortable paved sofa area and a sunken Jacuzzi in the lawn which overlooks Bellagio and is the most fun way to spend a lazy summer’s day or even a romantic way to spend an evening with a glass of Prosecco!
An outdoors shower is also situated here to allow you to refresh whilst the Italian sun is out.
From the living area granite laid steps lead to a light and modern first floor which comprises the sleeping accommodation. The Villa provides 2 very private double bedroom suites, the master bedroom is very spacious and offers a large double bed, dressing area and a very contemporary en-suite bathroom with toilet, wash basin and a Sauna with steam shower to try!
Leading from the master bedroom a sunny lake balcony is situated where you can lay on one of the deckchairs to enjoy a good book as well as the romantic lake views which are truly breathtaking.
The second suite is situated on the same floor and offers a large double bed, a sunny lake view balcony with table and chairs to enjoy a morning coffee, and a beautiful en-suite wet room with all the desired additional sanitary ware.
Surrounding the Villa on one side is the alpine rockery garden which, after a short exploration up the winding path leads to a romantic lake view seating area.
There is a car parking area next to the Villa and a short drive down takes you to the world famous Menaggio and Cadenabbia Golf Club and the lakeside town centre of Menaggio, which offers all the desired amenities and services.
Menaggio is about half way up the western side of Lago Como, an attractive and thriving town in the summer months and little more quiet in the winter! Accessible by car from Como at the south end of the lake, or Lugano in Switzerland, across the pass via Porlezza (340) above Menaggio but also by ferry from Bellagio and Varenna (where there is a train from Milan). The heart of the 'old' town gathered around Piazza Garibaldi close to Menaggio's harbour features mostly 19th century buildings in the Italian alpine style painted in muted tones. The higher part of the town has a more medieval aspect featuring narrow alleys, steep stairs and stone buildings. The old and 'new', the shops, restaurants, cafes, public squares and alleyways, the tree shaded lakeshore promenades bordered by flowers, and the well-kept villas form a wonderful and serene place to holiday.
Historically Significant: Historically this area was originally settled during the Bronze Age by the Gauls, but subsequently conquered by the Romans who established a defensive fort and colony where Menaggio now sits. The town was linked to by a major Roman highway, the Via Regina, to other parts of the Empire over the Alps and the Southern territories.
Because of Menaggios' strategic location on the Via Regina, during medieval times, Menaggio was surrounded by walls (remnants of which still exist),towers, castles and various other fortifications, which historians visit this region of Lake Como to explore.
Centuries later citizens of Menaggio were actively involved in a process (the Risorgimento) a process that in 1805 culminated in the annexation of the region of Lombardia by the Kingdom of Sardegna.
Menaggio - Activities: Crazy Golf in Menaggio, 7 km. Fitness trail in Loveno. Alpine mountain climbing is possible up to 3000m. In Chiavenna, a 30 minute drive away, you can hire a mountain guide. Skiing from cross-country to slalom is possible in 1700 m high St. Moritz. In Menaggio you can hire kayaks, motor boats, water skis and bicycles. There's also a swimming pool and tennis courts. Menaggio is a pleasant, lively town, with idyllic lanes, a bright piazza and outdoor cafes, a beautiful lakeside promenade lined by villas. It's an attraction for many at Lake Como. Culture: on the west shore of the lake around Tremezzo Villas, churches, monasteries, museums, castles and interesting monuments are waiting for you to be admired.

Villa Croce Amore is a beautiful home. Beautiful views and a great villa for entertaining. We took the ferry to Bellagio and had lunch at The Terrace, Hotel Florence and did some hiking at Varenna. The Italian Lakes do have a postcard picture!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had an amazing week in Croce Amore. The house was much better than what was shown in the photos. The view from all sides has to be seen to be believed. It's not only the front where the lake is, we enjoyed the side views as well with the villages and the pre-alpine scenery. We also liked the left side of the house where a beautiful small forest lies. But the most important feature of all this rich environment is that the views change continuously as the day proceeds or the weather changes. So each moment, the same view looks different so that you have to sit and admire it again. We took hundreds of pictures of the same setting just to capture the weather and the time of the day. Unforgettable. The house inside is as advertised but also full of air and light which can't be seen in a photograph. Very clean and looked after. It is very quiet, very private, although there are other houses nearby. The Jacuzzi and the incredible views kept us several days inside and we could not get enough of it. One week may be little time to fully enjoy the house and its surroundings. In order to feel more of a home rather than a rented apartment, we would suggest that the kitchen should be somewhat better equipped. For example, seasonings and kitchen towels were definitely missing as well other things that a family kitchen usually includes and are hard to buy from a supermarket just for a week. The sound system and tv system directions and/or instructions must be revised asap. We couldn't fully utilise their potential during a whole week. The lakecomohome team were wonderful from the beginning. They not only helped us pick the right house but they were constantly there for us during our stay and at the same time remained very tactful. They helped us with anything we requested, they even printed out some documents for us. They get an excellent degree from us for being both friendly and helpful. All in all, we feel extremely lucky to have stayed in this beautiful house, enjoyed the unobstructed views and had a great time for a week. We are not sure if we could discover this kind of accommodation on our own. It's quite difficult to hit bull's eye with the first attempt in a foreign place. That's why we also feel grateful to the lakecomohome staff for their help over our final choice.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We stayed at Croce Amore in August this year and had a wonderful time. The villa was amazing, fully equipped and easy to find. The view from the villa is stunning and we never got tired looking at it, any time of the day and night. All the fittings are 'top' quality and the kitchen is fully kitted out apart from the lack of drinking glasses. The location of the villa is superb with many attractions easily accessible. It is also accessible to the nearest supermarket in Porlezza (which really should be highlighted more on the website as it is self catering accommodation). The Happy Holiday staff were very, very helpful. We emailed them on numerous occasions for many reasons and were answered very quickly. All in all, this was one of our most enjoyable holidays not just because of the excellent accomodation but the truly stunning location. The holiday ticked many boxes for adults and our children (who are eight and five).Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We recently stayed at Croce Amore as part of our honeymoon and wanted to say what a wonderful villa it is. We would be grateful if you could pass on our thanks to the owner, it is very apparent that they have put a lot of effort into making it a wonderful holiday home. The villa was very well equipped and, as you know, it has the most amazing view of the lake, simply stunning!!! We spent many an hour lazing in the hot tub admiring the beautiful scenery! Thank you to all the staff at HHH, you have been extremely helpful from start to finish and we will recommend you our friends.
