Our stay at this cottage was wonderful. It has been totally remodeled in the craftsman style by a local artisan. He also made all of the furniture. The owner has another vrbo next door and between the two houses the landscaping is beautiful with crabapple trees magnolias, etc etc. We particularly liked the short drive to town (not even a mile) and the sound of the train coming through. We were looking for a home while staying there and after hearing the train from this home we really wanted a home where we could hear the train. It has an old world charm about it when it whistles through town. . The front porch is nice to sit out on. A local merchant lives across the street and a nice lady lives next door who is the caretaker. The home has been remodeled beautifully. The kitchen is very large open and fully equipped with whatever you would need. Easy trip to all the local restaurants and just a couple miles to walk round Lake Tomahawk. There are all kinds of hiking trails throughout this town. Highly recommend this charming little oasis of a cottage.

The cottage was easy to find according to the directions given by owner. The cottage itself is beautiful inside and outside, extremely clean and spacious. Everything we needed was available in the cottage. Since we were visiting friends & family in the area it was extremely convenient for us. Easy access to Blue Ridge Parkway or choose to go down mountain roads to discover antique stores which we love to do. The leaves were peaking and they were gorgeous. Loved the town of Black Mountain with all of its stores and the cottage is a very short drive to it. Recommend to anyone wanting a clean homey feel while in the mountains. Look forward to returning

My family and I stayed at this property for a weekend in early fall and were very pleased. We've stayed at 25+ vacation rental properties across the country and this one had the nicest and cleanest interior we've ever seen! To top it off, beds were very comfortable, water pressure was good, and many extras like laundry soap, bath soap, and body wash were provided. We really enjoyed the charming details like stained glass hangings and locally handcrafted furniture and cabinetry as well. The only potential drawback is the neighborhood, which included older homes that were not nearly as nicely kept as this one. It seemed safe and neighbors were friendly though, and the lady next door who manages the property was wonderful. Downtown Black Mountain is close by, as is I-40. All things considered, this home is a great choice! I highly recommend it!

Delightful stay at this cottage. Nicely renovated. Very clean. Charming decor. Quiet neighborhood. Rental manager (next door neighbor) was so nice and helpful. Enjoyed morning coffee on the front porch while watching the hummingbirds feed from the beautiful flower boxes. Would recommend dining at the Black Mountain Bistro and Berliner Kindl German Restaurant. Fun browsing through the old Hardware and General Store. We would recommend this property to friends and relatives. Most definitely will stay there again.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2010

About the owner: This house was my grandmother's house that she built in 1952. I grew up in the house next door for all of the first 18 years of my life. So this is a special property for me. Black Mountain was a wonderful place to grow up. I live in Baton Rouge now and love to spend time in the mountains especially in the summer. I am a certified financial planner and live with six cats. I have traveled all over the world and love cooking, gardening and wildlife.

Why the Owner Chose Black Mountain:
The house was in very bad shape following my mother's death. The house has been gutted and totally remade and enlarged as the cottage it was destined to be. From my travel experiences I have tried to incorporate things into the house to make guests feel at home with modern conveniences but still give a flavor of western North Carolina hospitality. I know that you will enjoy your stay in this unique home. The house next door (#432810) where I grew up is also available to rent making this property ideal for extended family or friends.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Enjoy the large deck that spans the entire back of the house as well as an incredible front porch. Have coffee on the porch in the morning sun and dinner from grill on the deck in evening. Watch the wild young rabbits play in the mornings. See the fireflies at night with their twinkling lights. The large modern kitchen is well-equipped to allow gourmet cooking. The house is located in a nice family neighborhood.
