great holiday rental!
great holiday rental!
My wife and I were looking for a nice cottage with a great view of the Bay of Fundy while touring the maritimes, and for the very reasonable price of this cottage, we could not have made a better choice. Great people and the cottage was everything as advertised and the view of the harbour was spectacular. Great place for hiking or just to be still and unwind, We loved coming back to the Cottage to relax after a long day of exploring, cooking our own lobsters, and sipping wine on the deck. We loved the ouside shower and fire pit, and we would come back again in a heartbeat.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.
This property has no running water, no phone, is infested with spiders, and the owner is unreachable. We arrived on a Sunday evening to find no running water and no phone. A neighbor told us that the property was without water all that day but that the owner was supposed to be there in the morning to do some work. The next morning I used a local business phone to contact the owner but only got voicemails. I also sent an email to the owner explaining the situation and that we didn't have cell service in Canada. We have never heard from the owner and he never showed up to do any work as we were told. We were supposed to be there for 3 days but the combination of the growing sewage smell, the lack of a bathroom or water, and the increasing spider infestation, we had to vacate the premises early. After this happened, the owner deposited our check and still has not responded to our emails. Our recommendation is to stay away from this listing.

Owner response: We take great pride in our property and it is important to us that our visitors leave with a special memory of St. Martins. We have 7 seaons of guest books that speak to exactly that. The issue here is an isolated incident of a breakdown in communication caused by a series of several events and unfortunate circumstances. Unfortunatly we were out of cell service for several hours on Monday when a plumber was required. We have now provided a plumber and electrician number in the cottage in the event that this ever happens again. We have no control over what other people say and unfortunately our renters were misinformed about us going to St. Martins. We are typically there as we are renovating another property but this paticular weekend we were away and had no plans to be there. We were traveling on Monday and out of cell service until 7pm. When we were back in service we got the message the water was off. As soon as were were home Monday evening we made the trip to the cottage to asses and troubshoot. (the cottage was in darkness so we did not disturb the renters)Tuesday morning we were there with the new part and cash in hand to refund their money. Unfortunately they had left. Several attempts were made to contact our renters but they also had cell service issues so it proved very dificult. We are very disappointed that we were not contacted on Sunday. Had we known about this when it happened it could have been corrected Monday morning. We deposited their check the week before they arrived which is customary. NOT POST WATER PROBLEM. It generally takes a few days to clear american deposits. TIMELINE:Monday morning recievced call. Monday night went to the property and assessed the problem. Tuesday morning repaired problem. Along the coast most of our cottages and homes have a few spiders. We do not spray because they are usually outside up out of the way, near the lighting and they help control any insects around the lights. Spiders on the interior are not tolerated. We were at the cottage before and after our renters and did not see the infestation. We have since been in contact and have sincerely expressed our appologies and regret the stress this has caused to our renters. Their refund has been returned to an adress provided by them. New renters arrived for the remander of the week and just left today...very happy.
