Webster cabin description
Live with the eagles
Classic “modern cabin” on yellow lake
This is a charming classic 1950’s cabin with the modern conveniences added. The single bathroom with toilet, sink & shower is shared by the two bedrooms, each with double bed. A hide-a-bed couch in the living room will accommodate two more. Kitchen has refrigerator, stove & microwave.
Large wooded lot with heavily wooded buffer zone on both sides of property. You won’t see or hear the neighbors unless you make the effort to visit them.
Nicely decorated with antiques to complete the charm of those simpler times.
You can expect to see bald eagles frequently throughout the day, up close and personal, as well as the large pileated woodpeckers. Smaller birds are also in abundance, and occasional visits from deer, wild turkeys, grouse, fox, & rabbits.
A large home is also on the property. It is available for rent separately (VRBO #307131) or in combination with the cabin. A screened gazebo overlooking the lake sits between the two.
Bald eagles had a nest here for 12 years. In 2011, the nest went down in a storm, but the eagles still hang out here every day. That gives you a clue about the privacy and tranquility of this idyllic spot. As you relax on the front deck, the eagles will come and go from their favorite tree between you and the lake.
A gently sloping path leads down to the lake between majestic pine trees. (Accessible by golf cart if you have mobility problems).
Dock, rowboat, canoe, paddle-boat & 2 kayaks are included at no extra charge. 20' pontoon boat ($450/wk) or 14' aluminum boat w 9.9hp motor ($150/wk) available for rent.
The cabin is non-smoking inside for the comfort of our guests. Strictly no fireworks because they frighten the eagles & foxes that live here. No pets. We don’t want the eagles or foxes to frighten Fido, or vice-versa.
There is a picnic table, a gas grill and a firepit just outside the cabin and a second firepit next to the dock. Local firewood is provided. No need to purchase or transport wood.
Our American guests have hailed from New York to Florida, California to Oregon, Brazil to Alaska. Others have come from England, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Spain & Japan. We do our best to make your visit enjoyable. Our expanding list of repeat customers is a good omen.

Quiet, quaint and perfect get away
Quiet, quaint and perfect get away
Just returned from a week at this cozy cabin. The property is well maintained, sits on a hill overlooking the lake with an easily traversed, shared path to the dock. We boated, kayaked, and watched the eagles from the dock. It was so quiet and tranquil by the water and at the cabin, especially since the house next door was not rented. Every thing you need to cook and serve meals was in the kitchen with a gas grill just outside the door. Jim was a dream to work with, flexible, prompt to respond and very pleasant. We enjoyed biking Gandy Dancer from Fredric to Danbury and having such a restful place to close out the day. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of linen for bedroom, bath and kitchen.

Relaxing and Beautiful
Relaxing and Beautiful
We spent a week here in the beginning of August and I have to say this is a truly special property. The setting is beautiful and very private, with large trees shading the property and sheltering the eagles. The cabin is quite charming and has absolutely everything you need for a relaxing stay. You will definitely see eagles and get to know them, and Jim and Joan are wonderful hosts, knowledgeable on a number of topics, especially eagle behaviour. We could sit in the living room and actually see eagles fly by and land in the trees on the property! We rented the fishing boat for the week...and caught the biggest fish to date! Also went up the Yellow River for an adventure. There is an awesome ATV for trips down to the dock if you prefer. We would definitely like to make a return trip; a great place for a truly relaxing, natural experience.

Wonderful weekend in Webster!
Wonderful weekend in Webster!
I worked with Jim quite a bit via email - he was terrific to work with - he would respond quickly and was very detailed. It was myself, my husband and another couple that stayed for a weekend. The cabin is great - it's an original Yellow Lake cabin - great, rustic and has everything you need. There is a terrific screened in gazebo on the property, which was wonderful to sit in and play cards - the mosquitos were BAD so this was a great retreat! We rented the pontoon boat for a day, which was wonderful - we tooled around the lake, anchored & swam in the middle. There is a fully equiped kitchen and a grill so you can definitely bring your own food, but I would also recommend going over to the Yellow Lake lodge bar - either by boat, or drive. They have good, inexpensive food. Next time, we'd skip packing foods for dinner and just eat there. Jim stopped by a couple of times during our rental and it was always fun talking to him. He is very knowledgeable about the eagles that you will see throughout your day. I recommend this cabin!! Also, added bonus, SUPER easy drive from the Twin Cities.

About the owner: Your host is a wildlife photographer who speaks reasonably good English, French, Spanish and some slightly rusty German. Currently working on a documentary film about bald eagles for public television.
Why the Owner Chose Webster:
We bought this property because of its unique private atmosphere and the active eagle nest in the middle of the yard. There is a magical quality about this property that seems like you are in your own little world.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Privacy, Privacy, Privacy. Direct access to the largest lake in the area, with great fishing. Eagle watching any day of the year. Other birds & wildlife also live in our woods. In June 2012 a baby fox was visiting the cabin daily and timidly coming within 15 feet of the guests! It sat and watched me curiously as I did yard work. When I talked softly, it approached closer. How cool is that!
