Eliot house description
This home boasts beautiful gardens, 2100 square feet of open concept downstairs and 3 bedrooms upstairs with 2 1/2 baths, oak flooring in living and dining rooms, porcelain tile floors in bathrooms and kitchen, granite counter tops in kitchen and baths, oak staircase and carpeted bedrooms in neutral color. Full wall of windows facing South side of home with double sliders out to deck on first floor facing west to glorious river views and magnificent sunsets, mirrored on the second floor master suite with private bath, also facing west, overlooking the river and sunsets. The sunset views are unmatched, even by Key West, overlooking one of the widest parts of the river. In the winter it takes on a whole other feel, with views as magnificent with snow and sunsets and icy river. The map on this website has an incorrect location. Both levels have full length decks covering from each of the house off the master suite and living room overlooking the water. House comes with kayak and floatation toys, single car garage and cellar, fireplaced living room and master bedroom, ceiling fan in bedroom, sun comes in from all sides and is delightful. Fully furnished with beautiful furniture. Kitchen has all new stainless frig, dishwasher, gas cook stove and microwave - Maytag and Bosch appliances. Second floor laundry has new Maytag washer and dryer in full bath upstairs. It truly is a gem and loved by all who come in.

- This home sits quietly on the Piscataqua River, five miles up from where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean in Portsmouth, NH. The map on this website has the home incorrectly placed. It is on the river near the intersection of Governor Hill Rd. You have to scroll down the River Rd. map to find its location. A variety of wildlife and bird watching abounds. Overlooking the wide part of the river with floating dock is Dover Point, NH to the West. The sunsets over the river are unmatched, even in Key West. Portsmouth Harbor only a few miles down, offers a variety of restaurants, shops, spas and salons and theater. Mount Agamenticus is a few minutes away offering beautiful nature hikes. Boston is conveniently located one hour south and the home is only a few miles from the Hwy. 95 entrance. It is beautifully quiet and sanctuary-like with lovely landscaping. Downhill skiiing is just an hour away and cross country is outside your door. Kayaking is the favorite pastime, along with water tubing and floating on rafts. Up river is Dover, NH and a beautiful kayak trip. Portsmouth offers Water Country, live theater and musicals, historical Strawbery Banke, Prescott Park and much more...moreless

House and location are lovely but beware!!!!
House and location are lovely but beware!!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this lovely place but be very careful because the owner may look for a reason to refuse to give back the substantial security deposit, which she is doing with us. Apparently, a "missing" duvet cover (nope, didn't want or need it and guarantee she'll find it and the kicker is we actually stripped the beds, and washed almost everything, including bath and kitchen towels we used before we left but ran out of time before we could wash everything!) a loose towel bar (definitely loose when we came in, the bar would clatter to the floor whenever someone tried to put a towel on it or bumped it coming out of the shower, but she claimed it was tight!) and a "jammed" faucet in the tub (definitely another pre-existing condition since it only worked properly some of the time) She claims to always check the "hardware" after a renter leaves, but highly doubt it since she told us she had only rented the place out for the first time the week before we came in. These "issues"will be costing us the entire security deposit and our requests for receipts have not been responded to (even though we do not think for one minute these issues were created by us) so renter beware, don't do it because it's going to cost the rental fee plus the security for the week. She also just moved out and has way too many of her own personal things in the house which could be a recipe for disaster if anything gets broken-prepare to pay and pay lots. Nice little scam she's got going here. We will be complaining to Home Away (parent company of VRBO) as well, since we have rented through them before.

Owner response: I did not say I always check the hardware. I said I was advised to check it as it is one of the things overlooked by owner, so it was the first thing I checked, both after the previous renters and these renters. The towel bar was not loosed after the previous tenants. It was hanging off after these tenants. They did not call and ask how to work the bath faucet (even though it is not difficult, but it there is a somewhat hidden mechanism you have to pull on to change it to shower mode), and instead, in trying (I can only guess) to do that they broke the faucet mechanism. The duvet is missing. I was told by my neighbor there were a lot of people over there, some who were guests not staying, which was fine, but anyone who's heard rental stories and damage involved, it is easy to guess it could of been on of their guests who weren't staying. The damage deposit is only $500, significantly less than the rental fee of $2000 and considered more than reasonable, in fact, most have told me I should be charging a $1000 damage deposit or 1/2 of the rental fee. Security deposit went toward their rental fee of $2000 for the week and was 1/2 of the weekly rental. That is not something they get back, but rather goes toward the $2000 fee. When they arrived they only owed the other half. So there is a gross exaggeration and inaccuracy in their complaint. I will be raising the damage deposit to $1,000. And the lease clearly states if there is any damage the damage deposit of $500 will be forfeited. This is standard in this industry.
$2000 weekly July 28 - October 15- all inclusive $3000 per month as winter rental October 15 through June 15 - heat not included

About the owner: I am a medical device representative and cover New England hospitals. I bought this house last year and am moving in with my fiance, but want to keep it as I am in love with it, so have decided to rent it as either vacation rental and/or a winter rental from September 15 through June 15. This year, for vacation am offering last week in July and the first two weeks in August.
Why the Owner Chose Eliot:
I bought this property for the gorgeous views, water sports, floating dock and open concept and space it offers
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The views from the master suite and living room decks are a great way to relax after water activities all day or coming back from sightseeing. The gardens are small, but lovely on this 1/4 acre lot. Privacy is abundant due to the vegetation and you must see to appreciate. The wall of windows providing nice solar heat in the winter and gorgeous sunlight in the summer is pleasant and inviting.
