We have been using VRBO for vacation rentals for about 6 years now, and given that we have family in Vancouver, Vancouver is a common destination for us. This lovely lanehouse in the fabulous neighborhood of Dunbar is by far the best vacation rental we have EVER stayed in. My husband said to me more than once that I hit it out of park with this booking. The lanehouse is beautifully and tastefully appointed throughout. The quality of the furnishings is quite high as are the level of large and small kitchen appliances. A lot of thought in the details: a bike rack, Bose radio, a rice cooker, spare chairs for the dining table, BBQ area complete with outdoor dining table and chairs in a beautiful landscaped patio. Brian and Kelly are thoughtful and mellow managers/owners. They have quickly and quietly attended to every request and question I had. The neighborhood offers just about anything you could possibly need or want. W. Broadway is just 4 blocks away and offers a wide range of restaurants, both in cuisine type and affordibility, grocery stores, boutiques, specialty markets, and bakeries. The Kitsilano Farmer's market is about 10 blocks away -- it is a lot of fun to buy local ingredients there on a Saturday morning and come back to the lanehouse and cook an elaborate meal. My children explored the neighborhood extensively with its many parks, one of which is a water park, playgrounds and tennis courts. We will be return renters to this lanehouse.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Traveling with a 2 year old and a 5 month old can be daunting to say the least but this homes offers everything we needed. It is well equipped so no need to pack hairdryers, sheets or towels. The washer and dryer are top of the line making it even easier to pack light! There is a park within walking distance for the children plus a DVD player makes for cozy family movie nights. Everything was immaculately clean and well-maintained and the homeowner was close on hand if we needed anything. Located on a beautiful tree-lined suburban street it is best to have a car on hand to get to the beaches and parks. Stanley park is a must, Granville island is fun to see (although the Kids market was a bust - it is a bunch of children's stores and it is difficult to get around with a stroller). We had an excellent time and can highly recommend this home for you stay. Some hopefully helpful hints: Vancouver has state run liquor stores so don't assume you can get beer/wine at the supermarket. Bring a cooler bag so you can hit the market and pack a picnic for later. Depending on who has stayed at the house before you there might be some food basics in the kitchen (salt, pepper, sugar etc) but best to investigate first.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.
