Description of Condo
We recently purchased this condo and are now offering it for rent. Our beautifully redecorated, recarpeted, and freshly painted one bedroom/one bath oceanfront condominium is at Maalaea Kai in beautiful Maalaea Maui. The entire condo is air conditioned! Our unit differs from most condominiums in Maui in that the building is on a cul-de-sac so there is little vehicular traffic. Also, unlike most condos, you can hear the ocean from the bedroom as well as the living room. Because we are a corner unit, our bedroom has windows on two walls and one of them faces the ocean! We are also unique in that our plush bed, bedding, and linens are of the highest quality we could buy. You will think you're staying at a 5 Star hotel!
Living Room
Being a corner unit, there is a side window, in addition to the sliding glass door, that gives you more light and airflow. The living room has new carpeting, a sleeper sofa, which sleeps two, and a love seat. (Knowing that sleeper sofas aren't as comfortable as a regular bed, we have a pillow top to put on top of the mattress so its nice and comfy.) There is a dining table with four chairs. Our entertainment system includes a 40' flat screen TV, a DVD player, and a CD player. We have a large selection of movies on DVD. We have free wifi.
Bedroom
Our bedroom has new carpeting, new drapes, and a king-size bed (two twins connected together in a king-size frame). We are very particular about the bed we sleep in and our comfort is as important to us as it is to you. Our mattresses are Simmons Beautyrest Euro Plush Pillowtops. You will love them! The sheets are 600 thread count from the Hotel Collection and the pillows are 100% down. (We also have non-down pillows in case you are allergic.) The duvet is beautifully done by Calvin Klein. You will be in total comfort while falling asleep to the blissful sound of the ocean!
Kitchen
Our kitchen has a new stove/cook-top and is fully stocked with everything you could want, including beautiful Hawaiian china, wine glasses, a blender, a toaster, a microwave, an oven, a refrigerator, and all the pots and pans you would need.
Bathroom
The bathroom has a large tub/shower combination. We put in a new mosaic tile floor and a beautiful new vanity and matching mirror. You will love our ultra-luxurious towels!

On arrival the condo was spotless. All the amenites were over the top. Even had airconditioning, which was not needed due to the air flow through the unit. The bed was awsom. The view out the patio doors and deck of the pool, lush lawn, plantings, ocean, the other end of Maui, and the weather was great. Its a real five star place to spend time...............Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway.

The accommodation was all and more than we expected. The decor is fabulous, very zen and the balcony has a magnificent, unobstructed view of the ocean. The only suggestion we have is to add a kettle to boil water- we were tea drinkers. We spent much time snorkeling and found the central location very handy to get to Honolua Bay and Mile 14 on the way to Lahaina. The small, local shop (Trading Company) was very convenient and sold local, organic fruits and vegetables. They also print their own souvenir T-shirts. Buzz Wharf restaurant was quite good too. Our most memorable good food experience, however, was in Paia at a restaurant called Cafe Des Amis. Also not too far to drive. We would definitely recommend this Maui retreat. We hope to be back too.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We just got back from The Island Sanctuary on Maui and are already thinking about our next trip! This was our first family vacation to Hawaii and it couldn't have been easier. The condo comes compete with ocean view, pool, boogie boards, snorkels, fins, and more. Ma'alea is conveniently located within easy driving distance to Paia, Lahaina, and Kihei and there are a couple of little stores (with very friendly staff) and quite a few restaurants within walking distance and even a pretty nice little beach. There were no other families with kids in the condo complex that we met, but most of the older folks were understanding of our splash monsters. A great place for a quiet couples getaway!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We didn't want to leave this beautifully maintained "Island Sanctuary". The area was so peaceful, the ocean view, sunrises & sunsets were breathless and the accommodations lovely! Not to mention the impeccably maintained grounds & refreshing oceanfront pool and serene ambience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time on Maui this visit in great part because of this condo- a lovely, beautifully appointed home away from home. We were so comfortable there. We had everything we needed including the best bed ever. Loved having three king-sized pillows in varying densities to choose from. The view was lovely and the walk on the beach each morning was a real plus. Conveniently located between Kaanapali and Wailea, we were able to move about the island whenever the mood struck us. But mostly, we liked just hanging out. As for best place to catch a fantastic meal, don't miss Star Noodle, up on the hillside behind Lahaina. Sit at the bar so you can watch the food go by and talk to the very knowledgeable and helpful bartenders.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife and I just spend a week in Paradise. The accommodations top notch. The bed, bedding, towels an even the beach towels, would be one would expect to find in a five star hotel. Walking distance to the beach, shops, and good restaurants. This property even has beach chairs, snorkel equipment and sand toys for the kids. I will recommend this property to anyone looking for a great quite place to stay with the million dollar view.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I spent our 25th anniversary here and we were deeply impressed by the accomodations. The condo is clean and beautiful. It is as described and more. The bed is heavenly, especially after a day of exploring. We loved the ocean front view and the pool is nice and well maintained.The decore in the condo is especially impressive! I would (and have) recommended this place to anyone who wants to stay in as nice a place as Maalaea represents! We stayed at this property for a week in Fall 2012. I could tell the attention to detail and effort that was put into making this condo esthetically pleasing, clean, and comfortable. It had everything a person might need while away from home. I would recommend this place to stay to anyone, especially those who have higher-than-average standards about their vacation lodging.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: We, Danny and Frederick, live in Snohomish WA and own a spa called The Gated Sanctuary, Centre for Healing. The spa specializes in therapeutic massage and hydrotherapy. Danny lived on Maui in 1991 and has always wanted to return. We both share the same love and respect for Hawaii, its people and their culture. We have a special love for Maui in particular. Living in the quiet countryside of Snohomish County in WA, we wanted to find a special place in Maui that was equally quiet and oceanfront. We looked all over South Maui and fell in love with Maalaea. Most condos in South Maui are off of busy streets and you can hear a lot of road noise from the bedrooms, which are typically off of the street. Maalaea is different in that the condominiums are all along a quiet cul-de-sac. We also like Maalaea because, being in the 'valley' portion of Maui, it has a bit more wind than other parts. This keeps the area cooler than many other parts of the island. The other wonderful thing about Maalaea is its location. It is literally minutes away from most anywhere you would want to go in Maui.
Why the Owner Chose Maalaea:
When we first walked on the property of Maalaea Kai we immediately noticed the attention to detail in how the grounds and the building are maintained. It's immaculate! Before buying this condo we looked at many, many properties all over Kihei and Maalaea. This one really stood out to us in that it's impeccably kept.
We also fell in love with the fact that the building is on a cul-de-sac so there is little vehicular traffic. Most condos are on busy streets so there is a lot of road noise. This isn't the case here.
And finally, we loved the fact that our unit has windows on two walls in the bedroom and one of them faces the ocean. It's rare to be able to hear the ocean from your bedroom. Most condos have the bedrooms facing the street so you hear a lot of road noise if you open the window. In our unit you hear the blissful sound of the ocean!
