Lovely Place to Stay
Lovely Place to Stay
The cottage was perfect for my friend and I for our 6 day stay in the Gunnison area. It was clean and roomy with a lovely river view. There are other houses all around, but the cottage is positioned in a way that you feel like you are secluded. Deer and squirrels were frequently seen from the large patio window. Internet service was good. The beds were pretty comfortable (I slept well the entire time). The kitchen was stocked with nearly anything you might need to prepare a meal. There is no hair dryer, but we usually pack one with us. Other than it is a little tricky locating the road (You pull into the Long Holiday Motel parking area and follow the drive back behind the motel). I definitely would stay here again! It's a great place to use as a home base to visit all the wonderful sites in and around the Gunnison area.

Owner response: Thank you for staying with us. We too enjoy the deer every time we are there. They seem to love that little area by the river. I will look forward to you booking with us again and again. donna

had a fun time
we enjoyed our stay and loved drinking coffee by the river in a.m and going out abit in evening. we liked how it was decorated in western theme. we loved the deer in the front yard twice during our stay. there were five of us and we would have spent same amount on two motel rooms which did not have the river setting plus we were able to all be together playing games and watching tv in comforable seating . i saved at least 100. a day cooking quick meals . loved the location close to everything . each day hiking and hanging off of dangerous mts. in a van without 4 wheel drive. [still in recovery on that one] we had lots of fun and found the place added to our fun. never would i rent two motel rooms over that . also i looked long and hard for a place with value plus something extra like enjoying a cup of coffee by the river and watching rafters and fishermen wave as they go by .

Owner response: Thank YOU for staying with us. We always LOVED sitting and enjoying the River as rafters and fishermen pass by. Again, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay !
This property has lots more potential than the experience we just had. It is a basic accommodation that was clean with the exception of the bottom sheet on the bed in the 2nd bedroom, it had not been changed and the sheets on the bed in the Master were Flannel and it was the first week in July. As with many VRBOs you just can not tell things from the website. This unit is attached to the house next door. In itself, not a big issue except that there is some sort of heating issue and the HEAT was pouring out of the floor register the entire time and remember it is JULY. Made attempts to contact the occupants in the attached house but got no response. Waste of energy and it contributed to an all ready too hot unit. Beware there is NO air conditioning, NO ceiling fans and very little cross ventilation from doors and windows. There were two fans, the larger of the two operated but the stand was broken and the other was a very small (12") fan that was in effective. Only a few windows open and with no screen door there was no way to get any cross ventillation. Made for very warm nights especially with the flannel sheets in the Master Bedroom. For the money it is overpriced and for a few hundred dollars more you can have a better place in this area. Positives include how clean it was (with the one exception), plenty of space (except for the bathroom....very small) and the location, on the river but with very close neighbors.

Owner response: Hi, Thank you for your comments. I would like to first of all say that if you go online and look at the photos, you can see the big deck overlooking the river with an 8 foot slider door with a screen (it's right there in the photo). So, I am not sure as to why you could not open the door and enjoy the cross breeze. There is a window above the kitchen sink that opens and windows in both bedrooms with screens that open. There is a thermostat on the wall that controls the heat (there is NO air-conditioning in most houses in Gunnison as the average temperature even in JULY is no more than roughly 60 degrees YEAR ROUND. As for a sheet on the bed in the second bedroom being dirty...I have a cleaning crew in after EVERY stay and take great pride in the cleanliness of our "cabin". However; there is a closet full of CLEAN sheets and towels that you could have helped yourself to. Also, as far a Flannel Sheets, that too could have easily been rectified by a quick change from the extra sheets in the cupboard. As far as the house being "small"...yes, it is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath cabin on the RIVER in a great location very close to town. I am very sorry you did not enjoy your stay because of a dirty sheet or flannel sheets, but as you called me several times for your deposit and address; you never once called during your stay to ask ONE question or to COMPLAIN. Not sure why now you wanted to wait nearly a month AFTER your stay. Please accept our truest apology for our cabin not meeting your needs. Thank you for staying with us and we truly hope your next vacation is a better one.
