Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1999
This picture is of my daughter and myself. I grew up in Orinda in Bay Area and haven't left. I know a good thing when I see it!!
Why the Owner Chose Arnold
When I was looking for a mountain home, I chose Arnold because of the quaint beautiful area with the friendliest people on earth. The drive to Arnold is fun and non-stressful (unlike Highway 80 to Tahoe) and the area hosts a variety of things to enjoy throughout the year from local concerts in town, to concerts at the winery, to music festivals at Bear Valley, Kajaking in the lake, parades, frog jumps, skiing at Bear Valley, white water rafting trips, golfing and more too numerous to name!
The Unique Benefits of this House
The area is so peaceful, one can come from the busy Bay Area and immediately relax. I love the Arnold area. It's a short drive but you feel as if you are in a different world!! While you are in a small mountain town with very tall trees, you still have the convenience of nice restaurants, wineries, and a terrific super market to buy your food. There are numerous areas where you can hike, go to the lake, ski or just hang out and do nothing. There is wireless internet in the home.

We found the home clean and well stocked upon arrival. Excellent child and pet friendly deck safely wraps around the home. Nice dog run for pets. Newer hot tub was warm and in good working order. We will use this property again for future trips to the mountains. Thank you very much Linda!

We found the cabin to be in great shape and a lovely home. We took advantage of the hot tub, even though it was raining, and the pool table. Unfortunately, the weather prevented us from using the lovely deck. It was closely located to charming towns and Big Trees State Park. The dog run area would have been great if we had brought one. We had a really good time. Would love to come back again in better weather.

This was the perfect house for our family and dogs to be together. Linda has done a wonderful job decorating. It really has a relaxed cabin atmosphere. We enjoyed our coffee every morning on the big deck. It was nice to see trees outside every window. We loved the large open kitchen and dinning area. Plenty of dishes and cooking utensils. The furniture and beds were all comfortable and there was a TV in every room. We all enjoyed the pool table and the dogs enjoyed the spacious dog run. We liked walking to town where there is a great Supermarket. Short drive to the snow. Linda was quick in answering my questions. We could not have asked for a better experience and we plaln on coming back .

This was our second trip to this home, it is a very warm and inviting place. It does not have a rental feel at all, it feels like home. It is perfect for a larger family and wonderful if you have a dog too. We loved sitting out on the deck for our meals, taking morning walks and relaxing by the lakes. This is truly a relaxing place to be and we plan to go back again and again!

The house is very well kept up and the housekeeper now cleans all the linens and towels too so the rentor does not have to do them. The garbage still has to go to the dump because if it is left out, the bears will possibly arrive at the doorstep and I really don't think any of us need the bears to show up for dinner. I did not find this to be a problem I liked the house alot and felt it was away from it all. The deck is extremely pleasant and gives you that "calming" effect. The home is set up perfectly for dogs!! The home is decorated very well and sits on the side of the hill with vast views of pine trees. It is quite pleasant. All in all I found the home to be quite pleasant and we all had a blast.

My husband, baby and I as well as another couple wanted a nice weekend getaway in the Sierras and after searching the web for a pet-friendly cabin, we were delighted to come across this listing. The description of this listing is pretty accurate, except I wouldn't call it a cabin. I'm from the mountains of New Mexico and when we say cabin, we mean a certain thing. This is more like a house in a neighborhood. Granted, the houses aren't squashed in next to each other but you definitely see other houses around you--and when you're in the hot tub, you don't feel much privacy with a couple of houses looking down on you. Yeah, maybe on the deck if you sit against the house you can't see other houses but if you walk a few feet closer to the edge, you can see the house below and to the sides. We expected a more secluded getaway. And that was our mistake for assuming it would be that. When I now reread the description, it's not misleading in that way. I just expected a more hidden, tucked away charming mountain cabin. THE GOOD: great for pets. Our dogs loved being able to run from the deck to the dog run below. Fully loaded kitchen (although I would bring my own large pot next time as all the big pots had chipped teflon on the bottom--scary), nice pool table, great deck except there was dog hair covering the lounge chairs so no one sat in them. The other swinging chairs were so comfy. The owner is very responsive by email and phone. THE BAD: It's listed here as "away from it all" but we all thought it was more like a house in a woodsy neighborhood. It might have more charm if it was snowing outside. We also felt that when you're on vacation, you leave most of the cleaning at home. After paying the $95 cleaning fee, we were given instructions that we had to haul all our trash to a dump or pack it with us, wash all the sheets and towels and remake the beds and put towels back on the racks. We just had to trust that the former guests really did wash our sheets and unfortunately, I found dirt on my pillowcase. So maybe they left in a hurry, figuring no one would ever notice. We frequently rent other vacation home and we've never had to pay a cleaning fee and ALSO make remake our beds before leaving. I can understand doing a general pick up after ourselves and throwing the sheets into a hamper or even the wash but that left us a bit grumpy on our vacation. I think if you're looking for a house to share with a large group of people and need to be close to good hiking, this is a good place. If you're looking for more seclusion and hope to relax outdoors and truly be "away from it all" this is not the spot.
