Perfect fall escape!
Perfect fall escape!
We had a wonderful week at this fantastic cabin. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful and provided a great break from everyday life. We spent most of our time in the sunroom reading and out on the deck. The photos accurately depict the space and the views - which are incredible! It was easy to book and pay, was clean upon arrival, and the cabin/kitchen is well appointed and has everything you need. The furnishings are comfortable and the space is warmly decorated with artwork and pottery. It felt as though we were staying at the home of an old friend rather than a 'plain/anonymous' vacation rental. This cabin is a gem and Pat is a gracious host who ensured we had what we needed to enjoy our stay. What we loved most is that it offered a relaxing respite after returning from our day's activities - all of which we'd recommend: + Canoeing the New with Zaloo's Canoes, located right around the corner + Riding our bicycles along the Virginia Creeper Trail (in Damascus, VA) and the Railroad Grade Road from Todd to Fleetwood, NC + Wandering the galleries and shops of West Jefferson, and enjoying a burger at Blackjack's and cheese form Ashe Co. Cheese Co. Thanks, Pat, for the wonderful stay in your cabin. We will definitely return!

Completely relaxed here for a week with our 2 dogs. The house is very comfortable, well appointed, and secluded---something we look for when we go to the mountains. Hiked down to the new river, and had a picnic. Watched the lightning bugs come out at night after the sunset at the fire pit. We hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway and drove to the Virginia line...even found a "back" way to the parkway. The weather was perfect; nice and cool. The hummingbirds were amazing on the front porch. (love the swing!). Our friends in Florida want to know more about the property, but not sure we want to share! We really didn't want to leave...ever. We will be back!

Christmas in the Mountains
Christmas in the Mountains
We had an amazing time at this cabin. Everything you could think of was provided for us. We came with two teenagers who didn't mind that there wasn't a TV because of all there is to do in this area. We hiked down to the river and loved sitting out by the fire pit in the evenings. We have been coming to this area for the past 3 years over Christmas and I think we have finally found a place we will continue to rent in the future. Pat was easy to work with and very accommodating. We even had one of Pat's neighbors stop in and check on us. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you are looking for peace and quiet and nature surrounding you at every turn, this is the place for you!!

Enjoyed the wonderful views
We have thoroughly enjoyed it here. We haven't moved the car since we parked when we arrived. We have lived in the sunroom, and enjoyed the wonderful views from it and the deck and yard and several times from the meadow. We even made it to the river. We also enjoyed the music and books

Perfect Labor Day Weekend!
Perfect Labor Day Weekend!
I stayed here for Labor Day weekend with my son and his girlfriend, and it was certainly one of the most beautiful, serene places I've ever had the pleasure of visiting in North Carolina. The deck and backyard made for some amazing views while grilling and sitting around the fire pit at night roasting marshmallow's for s'mores! We also got the unexpected pleasure of viewing the "Blue Moon" that weekend as well! We also took advantage of the sheer comforts of the home, with the beautiful sun room turning out to be our favorite part of the cabin and also included the owner's stereo (his music collection was fantastic!). There is no television set, but television wasn't exactly on our minds as we went kayaking at Zaloo's right down the road, as well as hiking the Doughton Park trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway (also right down the road). We thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness, the wind blowing through the open windows and also enjoyed walking the trail from the house to the New River where we waded right in and searched for river rocks! There were so many other things to do that we didn't have the chance to take advantage of because of our limited stay, but that's why I'll be back soon!

My husband and I stayed here for the last few days and really enjoyed this house. It is very secluded and if want to get away from the world, this is your place. We read a lot of books! We went tubing at Zaloo's which is a few minutes away. The house is very well equipped and clean. We had fun watching the hummingbirds every day.
