Comfortable, Clean, Roomy Key Colony Getaway!
Comfortable, Clean, Roomy Key Colony Getaway!
We've often stayed in Marathon but this was our first time in Key Colony. We rented Yellow Tail with another couple and had a fabulous time. The house is very clean and beautifully furnished. I love the wall and upholstery colors. Very beachy. Worked out well with each couple getting a king bed with new, very comfortable mattresses. The quality linens looked new, too. We entertained a lot and with the open floor plan and shady back yard there was plenty of room, not to mention every kitchen item you might need including platters and hors d’oeuvre dishes. Apparently the bar stools that a previous review mentioned have been replaced because they were sturdy and perfect for breakfast seating. We loved the view and the privacy from the back porch. With the ceiling fan and shade from the palm trees we were never too hot out there. We also made good use of the Cabana Club membership. A beach with an oceanside pool where you can order food and drinks brought to your chaise made our days relaxing. There are several places on the Island with happy hour specials and good food at Cabana Breezes and the Key Colony Inn. I would definitely recommend this rental and hope to return ourselves next year.

Fabulous Stay at Yellowtail!
Fabulous Stay at Yellowtail!
We had a wonderful stay at Yellowtail! The home was immaculate and so comfortable! We were 3 adult couples and never felt crowded. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms were very comfortable. There were plenty of towels and linens. Having a washer and dryer was also a plus! We loved the outdoor porch - so nice and shady! We rented a boat for the week and loved being able to dock our boat right at the house! Ginny Dumansky, the property manager, did a great job. She was always prompt with email response. We loved the information left for us on the counter. We knew exactly what to do and expect for the week. We also loved having access to the Key Colony Beach Club - one of the only sand beaches. Great pool, food and service as well. We also loved Sparky's (restaurant on Key Colony)! They even cooked our catch! This was one of our best vacations! We will definitely be back!!

Loved yellow tail
Loved yellow tail
I just loved this home. It felt like. A home not a rental. It has lots of new sheets and towels and awfully equip kitchen. I never wanted for anything. The home is big. We had compsny including our daugtherand son in law and their two small children, the place was great, but it was cold and rainand we were inside a lot. The back yard is so comfortable with lots of palm trees , a over deck , and nice outdoor furnitre. We eat , read and watched the boat and great birds and fish of the keys. This was our first stay in key colony beach. We no longer own a boat, so are fishing was limited to th trips on the sea king. The pool is nice. The beach is okay but small. The three drinking and dining places are all good, loved sparks happy hour and the dinner at key colony inn. The fish was great all over, the hog fish dinner at the cabana club as great. My husband also lived the burgers.we enjoyed walking on the seven mile briidge, the sun sets at the sunsetgrill and my grand kids enjoyed the free pool as we eat. Had only breakfast at the islander good but costly and ice at sweet savannahs. Allin all yellow tail is a great house and you will not be disappointed. Also if you rent a biker do so with Ginny and Tom . Fair price and they deliver, the only problem I had was getting on line. Ginny went out of her way to fix it ASAP. Not only would I stay at yellow tail again. I would only book with Ginny . Also the house was clean and has lots pretty key west colors that was just painted, My only cons were the bar spools need to be replaced, the master shower is alittle small and the middle keys were alittle boring without a boat for four weeks.

Year Purchased: 2012
About: I have been vacationing in Key Colony Beach since the late 1950’s. After trying many Caribbean Islands and many other keys I returned to Key Colony and it was like coming home. The grass is not always greener when you have already found utopia. This house purchase in July of 2012 was not just for a vacation rental, but for our future retirement home, where we will spend what is left of our “Golden Years”. Even though we currently live on a barrier island on the Carolina Coast we eagerly await the day we can move to the land of aqua waters.
Why Key Colony Beach:
Why this property? Location, location, location in a planned community with the highest quality of environment. You just couldn’t meet a nicer bunch of folks. This home is located towards the end of the canal with only two single family homes past it. This means there is little traffic, larger lots and more open spaces. Also immediate boat access to Vaca Cut. Across the canal you are looking at a boat slip and beautiful yard instead of more duplexes which makes the backyard much more private and the canal seem much larger. Over the years we have rented many duplexes that have ended up with nicknames such as: the bat cave, the concrete bunker and the dump. When you walk in the front door of this home which is light & airy what comes to mind is “WOW, we’re home”.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Two very important features made this property unique to us and are why we chose it over the many homes we looked at over the years. First: this home is more spacious than other three bedroom rental houses. It is airy and has some high ceilings. The large kitchen has lots of storage including a pantry closet and from the sink you look out over sparkling water and palm trees. The living room is large with plenty of seating. The indoor laundry is convenient, especially if laundry day is a rain day. There is a big walk in closet in the master and even a garage for fishing and dive gear. Second: There is shade. You can always get plenty of sun in The Keys but finding shade can be difficult. The back deck is under roof. There are two ceiling fans and palm trees. You can sit outside in your private, tropical oasis and be cool and comfortable.
