Built in 2003, this all log structure features all the comforts of a home, but we call it a cottage as it sits lakeside, is decorated with life's comforts in mind, and offers the serenity of lake-life with ocean access nearby. Enjoy a morning fishing or kayaking, then hop in the lake that reaches 80 degrees by mid-July. For the more adventuresome, bring a boat for sailing, waterskiing, or just a cruise up and down this 14 mile long lake. Our place is at the narrow end, a mile above the dam that separates the lake from the Damariscotta River and offers low boat traffic, great fishing, and a dock location where you can enter and exit the lake in about 8 feet of water. Come enjoy this piece of paradise offering kayaks, and canoe, private dock, and shared float you can swim to. At day's end, return to the peace and quiet of your 3 bedroom log home with a recently added screened-in porch spanning the width of the cottage and extending 14 feet toward the lake. Rain or Shine, this is the place to be. Oh, and don't forget those cool Maine evenings where you can enjoy a blanket mid-summer! If that's not enough for you, the quaint town of Damariscotta is only 5 miles away and offers boutique shopping, great restaurant options, a full service grocery store and a place or two to grab a cocktail!

Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: One of two log homes on the property (see THE LODGE, vrbo 350800). Built in the early 2000's as a family homestead. Kim and I, along with our three kids spend as much time as we can in the Summer at THE LODGE and rent THE NEST from May through October.
Why the Owner Chose Damariscotta Lake:
Quiet summers in Maine. Cool nights. Lobster and Clams. Great Fishing, Warm lake (almost 80 degrees by July 4). Kayaks and Canoes, or bring your own powerboat. Some of the best large and small mouth bass fishing this country has to offer. Coastal options within a 15 minute drive. great town for shopping. Close enough, yet far enough away from Freeport Maine if you want outlet shopping. What more could you want?
