My wife and I and our two boys (9 and 7) - along with her parents - had a fantastic stay for two weeks here. The house is the perfect blend of "old Maine charm" - exposed beams, beautiful floors, neat antiques, etc. - combined with modern conveniences where they count - nice washer/dryer, great kitchen, new bathroom in the downstairs master, etc. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had literally everything we could have asked for, and the gas grill outside was huge and well maintained. Outside the house was a paradise - the gardens were gorgeous, the lawn gently sloped down to the water, and there were plenty of fun rocks for the boys to play on. Finally, there is an excellent dock with a ladder and the swimming was great. Lots to do in the area, it was nice being only 5 minutes from Boothbay, but a world away in much quieter East Boothbay. The East Boothbay General store is a pleasant walk, and they have excellent lunch options there. The Maine Botanical Gardens and the nearby Linekin Bay Land Trust preserves have some great hiking which we enjoyed as well.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: What a nice family from down south! The young boys bonded with our neighbors children, and to faintly hear the young voices on the shore frolicking in the water was a delight. Our guests took exceptional care of the cottage and we really appreciate it when guests take care of things as if it's their very own. They are returning next year and we look forward to welcoming them back! Thank you North Carolina for your kind review!

I cannot speak highly enough of my Labor Day weekend stay here. Geoff is extremely knowledgeable about the area, as well as a courteous and helpful host. When I expressed interest in the Maine Botantical Gardens (a must see!), he happened to have some free time, and took me there on his family's membership. The room was comfortable and clean, and the view is absolutely spectacular. You have access to an outdoor grill and a full kitchen, a nice plasma TV with a DVD player, and a cozy wood burning fireplace. Although I didn't get out there this trip, there are lots of great places to kayak around the inlets of the Boothbay region. This is a great romantic getaway, or quiet retreat. I will definitely visit again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: It was a pleasure having this lovey guest in our cottage. She arrived from Boston under pressure, and by the time she was due to leave, she was refreshed, rejuvenated and restored with a radiant smile. She can't wait to return to do some paddling and sit by the fireplace. She really loved the warm fires on those cool nights on the water. Thanks for taking care of our blissful cottage!

You are going to return to this paradise rain or shine - its Maine's best kept secret. The private chef, concierge, and housekeeping are impeccable. You will love the outdoor shower, wrap around deck, easy drive to town, scenic privacy and quaint, updated ammenities. Plenty of parking, wonderful fireplace, and great for the whole family. Book a lobster dinner on the shuffle board court. It doesn't get any better than this inn, its Bliss!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, people with disabilities, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you to a wonderful and thoughtful family from Massachusetts! So happy you enjoyed the transformation of the front yard and shuffleboard court to an enchanting outdoor dining pavillion for your reunion! We look forward to hosting you next summer! The many years of renting have only been wonderful. The house is perfect in all ways and within minutes you feel comfortable and relaxed. It is an easy house to have family and friends as the large porch is the place where much of the gathering takes place and the bedrooms are just as they look in the photos and are comfortable . The living room and large dining table make it possible for all to dine or sit together. If you enjoy cooking the kitchen makes it easy and most enjoyable with even a view from that room as well. The outside shower is a favorite of all. The dock out front makes it easy to swim , keep your boat and just sit and enjoy tranquillity . Try it you will not be disappointed !Owner response: Such great guests to have and this wonderful couple treat the cottage as if it were their own home! We are so fortunate to have become good friends with folks who appreciate Maine, and the way life should be. Thank you so much for taking such thoughtful care of the cottage, and we look forward to sharing our slice of heaven for years to come.

For two years running our family has met up for a week of bliss at this lovely and spectacular Maine cottage. We are scattered across the country, so this ends up being the only time we can all get away, and this cottage serves as our family home for that week. We love to cook and eat, and it is rare that a vacation home would make you feel like you were cooking with your family at home, but that's what happens. And on top of it all, you get views and access to Linekin Bay, which is gorgeous. Top it all off with an invigorating late night dip in the water and you are in heaven. Definitely indulge yourself with the outside shower (there are showers inside as well) and spend as much time as you can on the porch and on the dock, soaking in the views. The owners are very sweet people and have made our trips memorable. The home itself is beautiful, clean and well furnished. The listing was accurate in its descriptions, and I would recommend it to anyone who is considering staying in the area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: What a fantastic and fun family to host! They gather on the coast for fun, cooking, rest, laughter and bonding! We look forward to their return every year, and only wish they could stay longer. Thanks for the superb comments and again, we are happy sharing our very special home with such great peeps!

We visit Maine every other summer and love this cottage. Its spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. I have two boys who love to explore the shoreline and the grounds. The views of the bay and islands are breathtaking. The cottage is a quick and easy trip to Boothbay Harbor to pick up some corn on the cob or eat lunch on a dock. This is the only place my husband can really unwind. He finds a spot on the endless front porch and reads and takes a nap. We don't even mind when it rains. The cottage is spotless and has everything a modern home provides. We cannot wait for our next visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: A lovely family to host, and so happy they enjoyed our home as much as we do. The porch is a great place to watch and listen to the rain, we agree! Thank you, thank you Iowa family, and you are welcome to return anytime!

About the owner: Our very special and beautiful cottage has remained in our family since 1929! We have enjoyed summers in Boothbay as the cottage has been passed down thru generations. We like to share our home with those who appreciate and respect it's beauty, superb location, beautiful antiques and heirloom braided rugs. Our great grandmother made all the rugs on the front porch of the cottage, while enjoying the views of the ocean and wildlife. The cottage has been well maintained and updated tastefully, while still retaining charm.
