Casa San Vito is a beautifully restored Tuscany villa that sleeps eight and has three bedrooms: two king-size beds, two twins, and a sofabed in living room. Two beautiful full bathrooms, large living room with fireplace, country-style eat-in kitchen, washing machine, as well as a cable TV and CD player.
Great care has been taken in the remodelling process of this Tuscany villa to retain the many charming features while providing modern comforts and conveniences.
The villa is in the beautiful vineyard countryside between Florence and Siena and is in one of the best parts of the Chianti region of Tuscany for daily excursions to visit Florence, or to see the famous towers of San Gimignano, the sites of beautiful Siena, the baths of Montecatini, and is a wine aficionados paradise if you want to sample the many excellent varieties of Chianti. The nearest towns are San Casciano and Tavarnelle in Val di Pesa. Florence, Siena and Greve in Chianti are an easy drive. You can even make a day trip to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa as it is only a one and a half hour drive away as is the graceful town of Lucca.
On the ground floor set into cool stone walls is the original barn, now a loggia, or covered terrace, which is essentially like an outdoor living room in the summer. The patio area is furnished with a table & chairs for dining outdoors.
Go up the front stairs and you are greeted by a good-sized entryway as you cross the threshold. Coming off the entryway is the living room to your left and the eat-in kitchen to your right. This Chianti villa has terracotta floors and beautiful wooden ceiling beams that rise above. The living room has a large working fireplace with comfortable seating and a window the overlooks the property. The kitchen is furnished with a large table for comfortable, casual meals and lively conversation.
There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a dual king bed and an adjoining bath. The window looks out over the vine-covered hills. It has good closet space, and a little desk. The adjacent master bathroom has a full shower, toilet, bidet, and sink. The view from this particular window is one of the best as you gaze over the olive grove out to Chianti's rolling hills! The finish work in the bathroom is excellent, with beautiful tile details done by master Italian ceramic craftsmen. Over the sink is a large mirror and excellent lighting.
The spacious second bedroom is a bit larger then the master bedroom and has a romantic antique queen-size bed, a large armoire and a window looking east. The beautiful headboard has been passed down in the family generation after generation. The third bedroom has two twin beds and an antique armoire.
There is a laundry room off the hallway with a washing machine. It leads to the large bathroom that has a full size tub with bathtub, a toilet, sink, and bidet. The bathroom sink is set into a spacious cabinet, with plenty of countertop space. Again in this bathroom is beautiful tile with arched details over the large mirror over the sink that are very pretty.
The house is located on the same property with another rental house, Casa Rossa VRBO #36918, which can be rented in conjunction with Casa San Vito for large groups. The houses are approximately 30 meters apart.
About a 10 minute drive away are the tiny villages of San Cristina in Salivolpe and Romita where you can get basic provisions or go for a morning espresso at the local cafe. The nearest major city is San Casciano in Val di Pesa, located between the Greve and Pesa valleys. The town is surrounded in part by an ancient wall dating back to the 14th and 16th centuries. Every Monday morning is market day in San Casciano where you can shop for the freshest produce, meats, fish, and flowers. Be sure to sample the wonderful array of local extra virgin olive oils and honey too. San Casciano has a large supermarket, and numerous small shops if you prefer, such as a butcher, fruit and vegetable shops, post office, bank, gas station. There are numerous good restaurants, pizzerie, a public swimming pool and public tennis courts as well.
The village of Cerbaia, about six miles from San Casciano, has the distinction of having one of Italy's most celebrated, and expensive, restaurants, La Tenda Rossa. It is one of the handful of restaurants in all of Italy to receive a remarkable two stars from in the revered Michelin Red Guide! Just beyond Cerbaia is Montespertoli, famous for its red wines. You won't forget for a minute that you're in the heart of Chianti.
Keep going in the direction from San Casciano towards Florence and you'll find a great cafe in the tiny village of Santa Andrea in Percussina. This village is famous for being the home of the writer-politician Niccolo Macchiavelli.

Our Tuscan Holiday
Casa San Vito was great and Francesco & family lovely and helpful. Car a necessity. Recommend some warm clothes as it was a rainy fall & we were out so much never got to open shutters during the warm days & house was cool at night. We had Graziella [private chef] come in to cook for us - outstanding evening, Verrazzano executive winery tour a definite highlight, buying cheese at Tavernelle Thursday market & having dinner at casa one of our favorite meals. San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano - all great towns but very hilly so consider in your planning. A GPS would be very helpful - we didn't and got lost everywhere we went which sometimes brought us to unexpected finds. We all had a great time and wish we could have stayed another week. Would definitely recommend Italy Perfect.

Great Location, Very ComfortableGuest comment entered by manager
Great Location, Very Comfortable
The accommodation was perfect for our family of 5. The location was great and picturesque scenery. The hosts were most welcoming and provided all the local information that we needed for our stay. They visited us during our stay a couple of times to make sure we were comfortable. The location of the property was central for everything that we required with food etc as well as central to visit the area. We were extremely happy with all the amenities that the home provided, and if we were to return to the Tuscany Region, we would definitely stay here again. Very homely. Thank you to Francesco & his family for the experience.

Paradise on a MountaintopGuest comment entered by manager
Paradise on a Mountaintop
Casa San Vito is a comfortable villa situated among olive groves and grape vineyards. The three-bedroom home is very comfortable and accommodates luxuriating at the house or taking excursions to nearby gems of villages and historic sites, including a beautiful but relatively unknown piece of Americana only ten minutes away, the American Cemetery from WWII. Francesco and his mother, the owners, are very kind, and we were welcomed with fresh roses and a complimentary bottle of Chianti. This group of four toured Florence, Viareggio, Lucca, Siena, local villages and towns like San Casciano and Romita. A highlight was a day in Cortona. Venturing out from Casa San Vito is quite easy, but we do recommend a GPS devise programmed with Italian roads. That device was a salvation. Maria at the Mini-Market in Romita is delightful. She often helps guests with directions and recommendations of sites to see and directions. And she makes a great espresso and cappuccino. That is the closest market to the villa. We enlisted a chef to come to our home to prepare dinner one evening. The price was quite reasonable and the food delicious. That experience was a highlight. Book ahead of arrival. The Coop grocery store in San Casciano is a must. We stocked up on food items and made a number of stops there. The outdoor market in San Casciano is on Thursday. We recommend getting there early, for the market closes at 1 and the vendors begin packing their goods around 12:30. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend Casa San Vito. Who knows? We may return for another wonderful experience in Tuscany.

We had a wonderful time
We had a wonderful time at our "home" in Italy, Casa San Vito. Francesco and his mom were very kind and accommodating. She prepared vases of roses from the garden for our home. We greatly appreciated that thoughtful touch.

Above and BeyondGuest comment entered by manager
Above and Beyond
Here's just a small sampling of why Casa San Vito and its owners exceeded our expectations: *Lovely villa with modern appliances and beautiful furnishings *Beautiful vistas and enchanting olive and grape groves *Fine linens and more than enough dishes, towels, pots and pans for 7 of us to live and cook there for a week comfortably *The greatest asset had to be Francesco. His helpful and warm demeanor made us feel like he was our friend, not just our landlord for a week. He went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. He was easy to reach when we had a problem (like me accidentally pushing the wrong buttons and turning our heat off) and eager to help us out in anyway he could (escorting us on a late night pizza run).

A Little Bit of Tuscan HeavenGuest comment entered by manager
A Little Bit of Tuscan Heaven
Our family of four stayed at Casa San Vito in the hills near Florence and it was wonderful. The house is nicer than the photos. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The kitchen is very functional (although the refrigerator is too cold and your milk will freeze) and we cooked a number of dinners there. The countryside is beautiful and the owners are delightful. Francesco (who speaks English very well) greeted us warmly and was very responsive if we had any issues (the house ran out of gas one night and he had the problem handled early the next morning). His mother, Franca does not speak any English, but she greeted us at our arrival with a bottle of their family olive oil and one of their own wine, which was lovely. I highly recommend this if you want to enjoy the Chianti hills. We had a very nice dinner at The Fattoria (a restaurant recommended by Francesco) nearby and were pleased to find the bus into Florence very convenient. The house is well situated for touring the whole of Tuscany.

Memorable Week in Casa San VitoGuest comment entered by manager
Memorable Week in Casa San Vito
We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at Casa San Vito. The owners were delightful, and Francesco was especially helpful because he spoke English. We learned about the harvesting of grapes. The surrounding area was beautiful. We liked dining at different restaurants in close by villages. All in all, it was a truly relaxing visit.

Best of ItalyGuest comment entered by manager
Best of Italy
We had the time of our lives in Casa San Vito in Tuscany. The Villa is beautiful and comfortable. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Its surrondings are just expectacular and the views from our bedroom window just priceless. We usted the Villa as our homebase and had day trips to the nearby towns; Florence is only 20 minutes away. We also explored Pisa, Lucca, Siena, San Gimigniano, Montepulciano, Bagno San Filippi and many other charming towns. Francesco and his mother Franca were very welcoming and kind. Francesco had a wonderful gesture towards my family. We usted 3 other rental agencies for our 3 week vacation and Lisa at Italy Perfect was by far the most professional of all. She was on top of every single detail, from sending reminders to making sure our expectations were met. Rest assured that by using Italy Perfect you will get your the best of the best and most importantly, peace of mind.
