Start your day with a cup of morning joe from City on a Hill Coffee Shop and stop for an afternoon snack at Cookies with Altitude, both within blocks of your front door.
In the Summer: Discover why Leadville and Colorado's Upper Arkansas River Valley is a focal point for outdoor recreation. Whether you are into hiking, biking, fly fishing, 2- or 4-wheeling, exploring old ghost towns or simply relaxing, you can find it all here. Trailheads for the 2nd and 3rd tallest mountains in the U.S., Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive, are only minutes away. The country’s best whitewater rafting and fly fishing can be found on the Arkansas River and nearby tributaries. Escape the summer heat in a place where temperatures rarely hit 80 degrees.
In the Winter: Leadville is uniquely positioned among some of this country's best skiing. Ski Cooper is within a 15 minute drive, Copper Mountain 25 minutes, and Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin are all within a 45 minute drive from Leadville. Locally, you can enjoy great cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fantastic snowmobiling, and a local sledding hill for the kids (with snow making). An outdoor skating rink with unparalleled views is only 2 blocks down the street.
Finally, the owners are dog lovers, and understand that the furry members of the family enjoy a vacation too. Our yard is enclosed by a 4 foot high wooden picket fence that provides a secure area for your pet.

My husband, daughter, two dogs and I stayed at this historic victorian home 2/22-2/24/13. The home is cozy, warm and full of character. The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom is renovated and modern. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking implements, dishes and condiments. The family room with wood burning stove is a welcome toasty retreat after a day of skiing. Our dogs enjoyed the fully fenced backyard, too. Since the owners of this rental home live in Leadville, they are readily available to assist with needs or answer questions. We fell in love with Leadville and its historic buildings, shops and restaurants. High Mountain Pies is a must for creatively delicioius pizzas. The Golden Burro has wonderful breakfasts (very large portions). Ski Cooper is just 15 minutes from Leadville and is a fun, affordable family ski area. "Never Ever" ski lessons are especially great for beginners. We had a great weekend exploring the Leadville area and making lasting family memories. We will definitely return to stay in this charming home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We came here with another family for a weekend ski trip and it had plenty of room for both families. The house was very comfortable, affordable, family friendly and had everything we needed. I found the owners to be extremely friendly and accomodating. We're hoping to return in another month possibly!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children.

We had a wonderful time staying in Leadville. I have already recommended the rental to others if they want to ski Cooper or Copper! The pictures helped us make our selection and the house was even better than the picutres. Since we arrived in the evening, having seen a picture of the outside really helped us locate it much easier! The rental couple was available for any questions and provided a contact number if needed which was very reassuring. If we return to Leadville, I will definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Having seen the picture on VRBO, we were pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness. Jeff and Lisa provided everything we needed for our visit including many extras (toiletries, firewood) that were unexpected but definitely appreciated. The kitchen is perfect and the wood stove allows for great evenings with the family. I loved the artwork and the chance to read Jeff's book! Jeff was also very accommodating with our arrival and departure needs. I would highly recommend a stay here -- beautiful home and great hosts! Be sure to take advantage of the skiing at Ski Cooper!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

My wife and I had a very nice stay at Jeff and Lisa's Victorian Home in Leadville. The two of us made a nice Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed it next to the fire. Jeff and Lisa brought us extra supplies that were needed to cook our large turkey. We didn't need a thing for our stay. Plenty of cooking supplies, music, books, games and firewood. It's only one block from downtown with plenty of shops, restaurants, and excellent museums (I generally don't like museums but these were great). Our dog also enjoyed the fenced in backyard! I would recommend a stay with Jeff and Lisa. It's location and rates are just right!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.
