Hyannis Port house description
Linen service and onsite management. Harbor Village is a quiet, secluded village of privately owned Cape style homes located on the south shore of Cape Cod at the edge of Hyannisport. This 17-acre peninsula is a place of natural beauty, studded with pine trees, and laced with cool sandy paths leading to the ocean beach. Our private footpath to Quohog Beach bridges a creekbed filled with wild flowers - a fine spot to eavesdrop on nature at sunrise. Emerge from the sylvan trail, cross tiny Ocean Avenue and set up your own beachhead to sun, picnic or watch the sailors on Nantucket Sound. The summer water temperature on the Sound averages 70 to 75 degrees. Just outside the Village entrance is a convenient country store and newsstand. The shopping and excitement of downtown Hyannis is less than a mile from our gate, where you can also take the ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.

The view from the deck , and in fact the whole exterior of the house was very nice. However, I am very disappointed with it. Not because of the mouse droppings inside, nor the advertised linen service that was actually self service. The beach that was nearly inundated with plant life washing ashore wasn’t the issue either. It was that the interior of the house was devoid of any charm. The walls and kitchen were dull and worn. The carpets and carpeting was dirty, needing a deep clean. This was not the case of all the houses at Village Harbour. Initially were shown Whalers Watch and upon unloading our things into that house, I noticed it was very charming and in great condition. It’s too bad the property manager had to ask us to move out of that house and that she was unappreciative of the trouble we went to in loading all our things up, not long after unloading them into that house.

Owner response: Admittedly this family was placed in the wrong house which was a 2 bedroom house instead of the one bedroom house that they reserved. As soon as I realized this he was moved to the right house. The management team assisted him in the move. This took a very short time since they had not unpacked. The next day there was the complaint that the house lacked charm. I showed him another house that could have been ready on Monday . I also gave the option to leave and find a vacation rental elsewhere. There was no response to either suggestion. The carpet is not dirty and there were no mouse droppings. Both of these complaints were brought to me on Friday evening as this vacationer attempted to negotiate a lower rental for the week. We are onsite management and handle all issues immediately when they they are brought to our attention.

This lovely little Cape Cod-styled bungalow is just right. I miss it still. It has nice decor and my sweetheart and I felt right at home. Its wonderful to come into Harbor Village (in a very beautiful part of Hyannis Port) and the owners and other guests will give you a wave or say hello. I found the owners to be delightful and helpful without being intrusive. I do enjoy some privacy and nights were peaceful. The property and individual rentals are all so beautiful and unique. I'm heading back in the Fall.
