Welcome traveler! My studio flat is located on the second floor of the UNESCO protected historical house which was built in the12-13th century and originally was a Dominican nunnery. The inside area was recently reconstructed and apart from historic walls and doors is everything new where history is mixed with modern and luxury. The INSIDE AREA has two parts, there is a MASTER BEDROOM made on the wooden floor with a view to Bethlehem Square and main LIVING AREA with bar, dining table for 4 and pull out sofa. There is a BAR + 4 person dining table for comfortable dining and the KITCHEN equipped with new appliances ready to use.BATHROOM: For your comfort there is a bath as well as the shower corner with tropical douche system. The big advantage of my rental is the position but also the chance to use private backyard and basic grill place. The entrance to the property is by the garden throughout old Gothic gate.
The history of our house is very rich and deep. The Old Town of Prague was the capital of Empire for the centuries. The house was part of old Dominican nunnery, which takes place here since 1303. It is hard to find out when was the original house built, but we believe it was around 12-13 century. The left wing of our house is orientated just on famous street Golden Lane, which was the traders artery for centuries. Goldsmiths and Silversmiths were gathered here because Golden lane was the main pass for rich traders and merchants as their caravan aimed to Prague Castle. The Dominicans were not preferred public or reliant to outside so they built the big walls all around their nunnery and they farmed inside. Only entrance to inside was the Gothic gate, the entrance is still used by us. The Dominicans left in 1784 and the nunnery with farm was sold to private printer Jan Ferdinand Schönfeld. The printing company was opened in 1786 and soon become the largest printing company in all Austrian Empire. The newspapers were printed here until beginning of 20th century, when Austrian empire fell and property were converted into living premises. The complex is still closed for public and inside area (recent farm) we use now for private parking. The 2/3 of the house is now unoccupied and empty.
Looking forward to meet you in historic city of Prague, Mirek
