  Where to begin…from the first contact to the 4 am send off this was will forever be one of our families most memorable Christmas’s and times together. Michael, you made our first Christmas together in 4 years a fantastic adventure. Lots of space, gourmet kitchen, beautiful views and plenty of restrooms and privacy for 8 adults. Even a Christmas tree! This property is perfectly located for exploring ancient Greece’s out of the way places or cosmopolitan Athens. Walking along the coast or dining by the pool. Easy access to shopping and dinning. We could have never left the “villa” and had a great experience. We hope to return and look forward to spend time with you and your family.

  This villa was perfect for our family's (2 adults, 2 young teenagers) vacation in Greece. The kids loved the combination of the pool and the ocean, there was a convenience/neighborhood store within walking distance, and we could drive into Athens or the surrounding countryside for sight-seeing. Staying in the villa gave us a chance to experience Greece from a different angle than trips where we've used a hotel only. We used several nearby grocery stores for some meals, we dined out for others. We quickly learned road signs, parking, etc. While staying in the villa is nowhere near "typical" (the pictures are very indicative of what you get), using a villa instead of a hotel gave us a chance to have an experience that was much more like a week-in-the-life of Greece rather being bound to just the touristy areas of Athens. The other comments about the hosts' hospitality and graciousness are very accurate. Michael is readily available to respond to any questions, concerns, or inquiries. The property was very clean when we arrived, Michael was there to meet us and explain how the property worked, and he provided several helpful suggestions regarding places to visit and how to get there. I spent some time running up/around the hills of the neighborhood as well. As my son said, "this isn't just a house that could be in Architectural Record, it is a whole neighborhood of houses." The views around each turn are incredible (we were glad the villa was closer to the water than the hilltop but I recommend taking a walk/run/drive up to the top during your visit), both because of the landscape and because you see another fantastically designed home. Overall, this was a terrific vacation for our family. I highly recommend this villa for families (with children old enough to swim), small to moderate sized groups (e.g. a guys or girls getaway), etc.

  My friends and I recently returned from a stay at Stone Castle Villa, and we were very impressed with both the accommodations and the helpfulness of the owners. The house was warm, inviting and the views of the Aegean were breath-taking. The owners were extremely helpful in answering any questions we had, and even loaned us a GPS device to help with driving! We would strongly recommend Stone Castle Villa to anyone considering visiting Greece.

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

  All the family enjoyed a great time at Stone Castle Villa. Michael and Niki were great and their help and support was much appreciatted. Michael was extremely helpful both on a day to day supervision to help to solve maintenace problems to small but also providing very useful local tips. The maintenance and estate of all the furniture and equipment was well above expectations. All the basics of a rented house were in place, saving a lot of time and small efforts for us on arrival. All the pictures are real and the house is simply superb. The house is very well located. A short five min walk to the sea (rocky area) and three minutes by car to a great sand beach. There are very interesting tourist atractions within a 60´ radius and the location is perfect to combine tourism and beach. The area is quite local and there are very few foreigners, making the stay much more real. Definetely a great choice. Thanks Michael and Niki for your efforts to make this two weeks a wonderful time for all the family.

  Beautiful Stone Villa with fabulous sea views. Kids enjoyed snorkeling down the slipway. Visited Athens by metro, nice views of Marathon Dam and spent a couple of days at the beach (this end less busy). Thank you for the helpful tips on where to go and what to do. A most enjoyable week.

  We enjoyed the stay a lot and the villa was fantastic. The pool, the barbecue and anything... I talked to the others and I can say Thank You a lot from all of my company.   We recently had the great pleasure of spending XMas 2011 at the beautiful and unique Stone Castle Villa. In summary, it exceeded our high expectations in every regard and I would highly recommend it for families or groups seeking an exceptionally well equipped and comfortable base for a vacation in Greece, a highly welcoming and endlessly interesting vacation destination. My wife, two daughters 11&13 and I all found the villa to be unique amongst the numerous villas for rent in the area of Schinias Marathon. Its stone and dark wood interior construction made it warm and cozy, and we immediately felt completely at home. The Aegean vistas are unbelievable - the web site pictures do not do it justice at all. On arrival, we immediately noticed that the property was spotlessly clean and very well-equipped and it is worth noting that our expectations in a property of this class are somewhat high. The layout worked wonderfully for us - the house is really quite large, but does not feel that way at all. Even in the cooler winter weather, we took advantage of the many balconies to sip our coffee and watch the waves and sea traffic - it was all so comfortable it was some days hard to get motivated to leave to go see the sights! The large and well furnished kitchen made cooking meals from large to small a snap and at no point did we find anything missing in terms of appliances, cookware etc - quite the opposite really. The villa is in a relatively private settlement, but it is easy to shop for groceries etc in the nearby city of Nea Makri, 15-20 min away. As the web site points out, a car is essentially a must. With a car it was simple, 30+ min to get to a Metro station to travel to downtown Athens, a city that we found exciting, interesting and totally enjoyable in every respect. As frequent Homeaway travelers -3 times this year- we have yet to be disappointed in any way in dealing with property renters. But Michael, the owner of the Stone Castle Villa, set a whole new standard in hospitality and professionalism that I doubt will be soon exceeded - truly it often felt more like we were visiting family, than renting a villa! Whether it was answering questions about the Villa or local area, or providing directions and travel tips he was available at all times day or night, and took obvious pride in ensuring that our stay was perfect and memorable. It was that and more. Our only regret was that the end came too soon!! I most highly recommend the Villa!
