Les Faures is a beautiful manor dating from 1673 situated in one of the most stunning and ancient regions of France: the Perigord. The estate is very peaceful and private while the fabulous bastide village of Monpazier, with all amenities, is only 1.5km away and can be viewed while dining on the rear terrace. The property has been carefully renovated to include every modern day convenience, including wifi, while retaining the character of the original architecture. Built with local stone the manor has large and comfortable reception areas which, in the words of previous guests, allow space for guests wanting a quiet moment. There is a grand piano which is available by request and plenty of books and games for all to enjoy. The spacious kitchen is well fitted with an adjoining laundry room. All rooms downstairs are double aspect and open out onto the garden which surrounds the property. Upstairs are 4 double bedrooms, all en suite, with 2 that can be either as double or twin rooms, one also having an extra single bed. There are 2 cots that can be provided on request. The terraces are well furnished to offer places to relax, or dine 'al fresco'. The heated swimming pool sits in its own garden next to the house. For safety it has a fence, hedge, and lockable gate while the pool itself has an alarm. The total makes for an excellent venue for multi-generation holidays or 2 families together.

We were lucky enough to spend a beautiful and wonderful week in this superb property in July 2012. There were 6 of us including 3 adults and 3 children (aged 8,6 and 2). The property and facilties far exceeded our expectations and we will certainly be returning. The local town of Monpazier was very pretty and there were many lovely villages to visit in every direction. We also loved the time that we just stayed at our home away from home, swimming, playing ping pong, and keeping the kids entertained with the well stocked games cupboard and walking around the property. The house was beautifully appointed with fantastic quality linen and towels and everything you could ever need. The owners were also very helpful, friendly and kind. We would highly recommend this property. Thanks so much for having us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: Having had successful careers in the UK we decided to move to France and try life over here and have never regretted the decision. The pace of life, the ambiance and the culture suit us perfectly. Being definite countryside dwellers this area of France with its wonderful variety; rolling hills, rivers, steeper mounts, is an absolute delight.
Why the Owner Chose Monpazier:
When asked 'Why here?' the answer must be 'Because it just felt right'. Les Faures has a very special feel to it, to such an extent that two previous, and now very elderly ex-residents arrived to ask 'to go down memory lane' and relive their very positive experiences.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
The manor sits on the top of its own mount giving wonderful panoramic views and the sunrises and sunsets can be truly spectacular. The estate is organic and the meadows and woods abound with flowers, birds and wildlife. It is however well placed for visiting the Dordogne region with its chateaux, caves, bastide villages, and river. There is so much to do and see that a traveler can easily return several times and always find things of interest, just as we ourselves are still discovering hidden gems.
