Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Great Bear Lake. This Cozy Cabin is nestled on a dead end dirt road between Kalamazoo and Lake Michigan. Great Bear Lake offers fishing, boating, swimming, and water sports without the large crowds. Beautiful sunsets will close out your day! Spend the evening around the fire pit under the star filled sky, listening to the serenade of crickets and bullfrogs.
Whether you choose to spend your vacation with non-stop activities, or relaxation, or a little of both this cabin is the place to make it happen!
Rural setting, laid back lifestyle. If you are looking for a resort type vacation place, this is NOT it! (strictly a summer cabin on a lake). We have a binder on site listing activities available in the area. Most of them in Kalamazoo, which is not too far away.
Great Bear Lake is a 150 acre lake which is comprised of two lakes connected by a channel. The lakes have always been known as the 'Little' lake, and the 'Big' lake. The cabin is located in the little lake.
Bring your own boat or PWC and dock it right on the property. Boat launch is just 5 houses down. Plenty of room to park your trailer on the cabin property.
If you plan on bringing a watercraft, be sure to let us know, as there is a sandbar and a shallow weed bed in the big lake that are not marked. We can let you know where these are located.

I loved my stay at Happy Bass. I even saw my teenagers smiling most of the time. The paddle boat and floating dock was especially nice. Caught some great fish and grilled them. We will definetly be back and would reccomend it to everyone (as long as it's not when we are staying :)).Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

The cabin is very large and worked out well for the 2 adults & 4 young adults in our group. It rained a lot during our stay but there were a lot of board games in the cabin to keep us entertained. We brought our boat and the launch was just a few doors down from the cabin...that was nice. A few of us fished and caught a lot of bass. We were able to sit on the deck and make smores over the firepit our last night. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to go and relax. We had a great time and look forward to coming back next year!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, sightseeing.

We rented last minute and were unsure of what to expect. But to our surprise, it was a quaint cabin with cute interior and a lake in our backyard. The accommodations were perfect and we were able to take our dogs (last minute). It's new for rental so everything was in great shape (except the hot water faucet in the kitchen which eventually stripped and could not be used - but will be repaired) and was fully loaded, ie. dishes, pans, glasses, etc. We had a wonderful time and they were right, the sunsets were glorious! Thank you so much!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind words. We are new at this, and want everything to be perfect. I apologize again for the faucet handle. The cleaning person forgot to mention that it was loose. We stayed at this cabin and will DEFINATELY be returning in the near future! If you are looking for a nice "get away" destination....this is it! Very clean and cozy. Plenty of room for sleeping. EXCELLENT lake views as well as gorgeous sunsets. Took a paddle boat to "big lake".....just beautiful here!!!!! Plenty of room to dock your boat on premises. HIGHLY recommend this for a peaceful get away!!!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We stayed here for the week and it was amazing!!! They have a paddle boat and a floating dock towards the middle of the lake. We had a great time in the water!! Toward the end of the day you catch an amazing sunset while fishing for big mouth bass off the end of the dock! Cooked up a lot of great food over the fire pit as well as on the nice charcoal grill! Renter was on time with responses and super easy to work with. My family will definitely be stopping back here SOON!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
