A bijou Provencal cottage with warm stone accents, newly renovated and decorated with care and taste, this one bedroom (sleeps two) house is situated on a more than half acre of secluded property on a quiet (dead-end) lane adjacent to the rear of the historic (now museum) asylum where Vincent Van Gogh spent his last full year of life. On the lanes leading to the house are nine plaques commemorating some of his most famous works painted nearby.
The house is a ten minute walk from the shopping and cultural life in the centre of St. Remy. In the other direction a trail leads directly from the property to wonderful walks in nearby Roman ruins and the Alpilles hills.
The cottage has a more than 350 square feet (30 square metres) living/dining room with antique stone fireplace, a large bedroom with king-size bed and closet with bathroom with walk-in shower. A modern open plan kitchen, study area, utility room, and guest powder room complete the interior plan.
In addition the house has a shady 500 square foot (44 square metres) outdoor gravelled terrace for summer meals and relaxation in addition to a garage for storage and plenty of room for stretching out. The house is used by its owners and is fitted with quality furnishings and fittings in a blend of Provencal and contemporary styles.
