We recently stay a few days at the Colby's Run house during spring break. The pictures on this website show pretty much how it is. Just remember HWY 101 is just below the hill on the living room side of the house. The traffic is kinda loud, but the large picture windows of the view of the beach is worth it. The house overall is HUGE and tastefully decorated. Having a fenced in front yard was most helpful traveling with our 9 year old boy and little dogs. The hot tub on the back deck was nice along with the jetted tub in the owner's bathroom. Just realize, there is no fence around the back deck and is not be safe for unsupervised little children or dogs. The house does have beach toys in the front room closet to borrow and a baby gate for the stairs which came in really handy. Beverly Beach State park is just a few blocks away that you can either walk to or drive to. There is a creek that runs into the ocean from there. The Yakina lighthouse is right down the road too, there are tidepools full of critters and seals to watch. Downtown Newport is a little further down, try the Rogue Ale House for dinner ~ awesome food and drinks! If traveling with children, there is a aquarium near by and a movie theater for rainy days. The property management people were very helpful in booking our stay and answering many questions we had prior to booking. There were some maintence issues with the house and the management was notified. Nothing too major. I suggested they switch to a hypoallergenic laundry soap instead of Tide, which I am allergic to. The house needed to be dusted and throughly vaccumed since it is a pet friendly house. Sugar ants were a problem in the kitchen and it seems that other people had the same issue, even though the kitchen was spotless. It looks as it is an on going battle with those little buggers. Over all, I would stay here again and bring more friends with us to share such a large house with only 3 of us.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
