Relax and enjoy yourself sitting on the porches overlooking the pristine 'Oswegatchie River'. Go swimming, rock hoping, and have a cool beverage while soaking in the many 'pools' in the Oswegatchie River. The River is 150' wide and has a rocky bottom with area of gentle rapids, rock outcrops, and pools. Upstream 1/4 mile is an area where you can launch a canoe easily and have many miles of canoeing and kayaking on the River.
Bring your boat and launch it at a state boat launch three miles away at the very scenic Lake Bonaparte. Enjoy a romantic evening at the outdoor fire pit or, on cooler nights, stoke up the glass-front woodstove. Enjoy a romantic walk through the woods and pine plantation on the 40 acre tract that the cabin is located on.
The cabin is absolutely charming, finished with all knotty pine inside, featuring a loft area, open living and kitchen area, half round log staircase and steps, and round log railings and post throughout cabin and porch areas. There is a Full bed in bedroom, and 3 single beds in Loft area. The cabin is powered by solar power and comes with a propane refrigerator and Hot water heater.
The cabin site is located on a small point with a 180 degree view of the River. Majestic white pines along the river bank add to the beauty of this site. The cabin is accessed by a private gated road shared by four other camp owners. Cabin site is very private. There is an easy walk approach to the river shoreline. Swimming areas with flat rock ledge bottom.
Enjoy dining and shopping at the home style restaurants and shops located in the Harrisville area better known as the 'Gateway to the Adirondacks'. There are large tracts of state land nearby for hiking and backwoods canoeing enthusiasts. An information packet is available to show the great hiking areas within 40 miles of cabin. Photos ,maps and descriptions of the trails ,locations of State Forests will be available. Also ask us about some secret gems of hikes to nearby waterfalls. Canoeing and Kayaking info packet will also be available .
Guided canoe ,kayak and hiking trips are available, Let us show you around the area, owner is a former Wilderness Ranger for NYS DEC, for a summer in the Five Ponds Wilderness Area. Day rates available.
The cabin and site is very unique and one of a kind. The sound of the River is always present. The site really is a gem and breathtaking, and, once you stay here, I know you'll want to come again.

We wanted a place to come back to after hiking and visiting that offered cooking and sleeping amenities. What we found here was a beautiful & peaceful log cabin tucked away in the woods. The view and sound of the 'Oswegatchie River soothed the soul. The first thing we did, when we got there very late on an extremely cold night, was start a fire. The wood-burning stove quickly heated the cabin. There was plenty of firewood. The kitchen was well equipped with all necessary needs for cooking & baking. The breakfast bar, made of a tree plank, was spacious for 3-4 to eat at and play games on. If wanting to serve more than that you would need to use the picnic table outside. The bedroom down stairs is very small yet cozy for sleeping. The loft is spacious.. Everything was well maintained and kept very clean. We loved the idea that the cabin was solar powered yet there is a back up generator if needed. Remember to conserve. The bathroom(with shower) was clean and quaint. We weren't able to use the outdoor fire pit, but it would have been nice to sit by an open fire sharing good times with family or friends. Would we recommend this cabin to others? DEFINITELY! Would we rent again? Definitely!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
