  Really great location. Great beach with a very short walk. House was very clean and nice. Pretty back yard. Would stay again and felt very safe during my visit. Perfect beach vacation. Only one down side... The pull out couch was not so great for sleeping.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

  Owner response: Thank you for your lovely review. This is my favorite unit:). There is a featherbed in the trunk in bedroom for the pullout. I hope that is still posted for our guests.   What a pleasant surprise! This place was everything and more than we expected (rare these days). The owner, Noni, was extremely hospitable. The cottage was well taken care of, nicely appointed, and very comfortable. If you are looking to stay by the beach, then this location is unbeatable. Perfect setup for our dog too! We'll go back.

  The property is in need of paint. The gate to the back walkway needs to be rehung - it's difficult to open. Within, there are features badly deteriorated such as the kitchen sink drain. Heat cannot be thermostatically controlled. There is no dishwasher. The furnishings are quaint. The back garden on the lower level is attractive but the weather too foggy and chilly to be able to make much use of it. The inground sprinkler system keeps the outdoor furniture soggy. Unfortunately the removal of a broken potted plant left a trail of dirt and disrupted one attempt to entertain guests. The owner is very pleasant and accommodating. I would not recommend this property to a friend or relative.

  Owner response: Thank you for your kind words. I am sorry for any unpleasant experience you ma have had. We work very hard to keep our units clean and well stocked and try to get to the repairs immediately. The furnishings are all from upscale stores, including Pottery Barn, and Restoration Hardware. I love Shabby Chic, but understand is not everyones style. The gate has already been fixed and the gardener has been replaced. The other items are on the list of upgrades we have wanted for the very near future. We try to keep our rates low. Being 10 houses from the sand and affordable at$ 800 per week, including tax, we try and weigh what we spend. But the gardener was very off base. Again, we apologize for any unpleasant expeience. We will look into any improvements suggested and apprecaite your feedback. Noni

  The property was clean and well maintained. The owner was extremely helpful and quick to answer any questions. I would recommend this property to a friend or relative. The garden was delightful and we enjoyed sitting in the sun in the afternoon. The unit was well stocked with supplies, cookware, linens, etc. The photos did accurately reflect the renal's appearance and amenities.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing.

  This beach getaway was exactly what we were looking for! My husband and I came up from LA for a long weekend and found this house to be extremely clean and cozy. We loved that it was only a 1-2 minute walk to the beach, which made it perfect for early morning and sunset strolls on the sand. We rented bikes just a few blocks away on Seaward and rode up the pier and into town. We rarely had to use our car. We surfed, enjoyed oysters from the Jolly Oyster and fell in love with Ventura. We could recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

  We truly enjoyed our get away vacation that lasted nearly 2 weeks in this charming cottage by the beach. Furniture, light, garden, atmosphere was perfect.

  My husband and I and our mother-in-law spent 3 wonderful days/nights at Beachside in late jUly. It was our introductionto Bowen Is. and it was excellent in every way. The view afforded by the Cottage is so beautiful and peaceful, it invites one to just sit and 'be' either inside or out. The open airy kitchen/living room layout is an artistic delight and offers a gorgeous view of the bay below . The 2 bedrooms are thoughtfully appointed and invite sound, comfotable sleeps- again both the nightime and the am bay view is soul restoring. We would recommned this Cottage to anyone who wants to just get away and sample Island life at its best. Will definately come again, in any season.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

  I just spent 3 lovely days in Ventura, CA. with my dear friend at a fabulous beach cottage. This is place is amazing ... extremely clean, bright, cozy and fully stocked with everything you could possible desire. There is also a great backyard with a built in gas grill. and it is only a couple of minutes to the beach. I will definitely be re booking this wonderful beach cottage for a much longer stay and in courage everyone to do so that would love a great beach get away. Joyce

  My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is a very comfortable space. The garden is lovely and you can view it through the glass doors from the combination kitchen living room area. It is quiet and only a few houses down from the beach. The beach was never crowded. The wind off the ocean is cold, so be prepared if you intend to spend some time on the beach. It is lovely. I really enjoyed Ventura as it is more laid back than Santa Barbara, but close enough to it to go and have dinner and shop if you want to. Downtown Ventura is a taste of Americana days gone by. A couple of coffee shops, a movie theater where tickets are only $5.00 for current films and various eateries. In summary, I would recommend a stay in this area and at this beach house. Leigh

  Stayed the month of May, and was in heaven. Entrance around back so the French doors open up to a patio and garden area, really an outdoor room. Garden has fountain, plants, trees, birds, sunshine and lots of comfy seating. I bedroom, bath and open living, dining, kitchen area. Amazing beach decor with tiny touches of whimsy everywhere. Bed and bedding extremely comfortable. Lovely tiled bath with great shower head. Foldout down couch comfortable also. Spacious for two people, might be a bit tight for four for any length of time. Kitchen and pantry stocked better than I've seen any owner rental. A less than 60 second walk to the beach. Beach never crowded, even over Memorial Day. Friendly people, great neighborhood and close to shopping and restaurants. Owner very responsive. I plan to come back again.
