My wife and I and our 2 year old really enjoyed the Muir Ave house. It's so tastefully upgraded and decorated. It's well equipped and Liz and Gibby have taken care of all the details ranging from the availability of a packnplay and a high chair to having beach chairs and beach toys. We've stayed at a variety of rentals while on vacation and this was easily one of the best. It's just a great little 2 bedroom house on a quiet street and centrally located to all the great sites that the San Diego area has to offer. The Ocean Beach neighborhood is very walkable. It's just a few minutes from Sea World or an easy drive to a number of beaches. Pacific Beach and La Jolla are also an easy drive. The off street parking is a huge plus. I'd highly recommend staying here and hope to return again in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I must say that we will be using this property again in the near future! The house is cozy and very inviting. Liz had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. We enjoyed a couple of beautiful afternoons having a BBQ in the backyard/patio while feeling the cool ocean breeze. Although I thought the beach was bit far to walk it was a quick and convenient drive. We had our own private parking which is a Blessing in Cali! The property was SUPER clean! I would recommend Sunset Cliffs for an unforgettable sunset. Thank you Liz for a wonderful stay!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your house! It was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The sitting area in the back patio was a lovely respite after busy days touring the area. The owners were quick to provide fans to block out the air traffic noise at night, and we slept well in the comfortable beds! It was wonderful to have a washer/dryer, and we thought the coffee/creamer they provided was a lovely touch! For breakfast, there is an adorable bakery not too far away (Azucar) that had wonderful scones! We didn't have to drive more than 15 minutes to any of the various tourist destinations in the area. The off-street parking was also a plus! We would definitely rent this property again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We stayed at the Muir beach house over New Year's 2012 and had a wonderful time. The house is extremely well maintained and furnished. The location is ideal!!! We were only minutes to Sea World, the Ocean Beach, and just a short drive to downtown, and Old Town. We will definitely be staying here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I came to San Diego to visit family for Thanksgiving. From the very beginning, we were pleased with the communication we had with the owners. Very helpful and responded immediately to our e-mails/calls. The house was wonderful, newly remodeled and very clean and well stocked with the essentials. It has a parking spot in back, which was a plus because parking in the front was sometimes hard to find. We kept our 18 month old grandson and the house was quite kid friendly with a high chair, pack n play with soft blanket, and toys, along with plastic eating utensils- and a fenced in front yard with grass. Nice, quiet neighborhood. We weren't really bothered by the airplanes, but we are early risers and were gone a lot during the day, plus, we didn't have the windows open much because of the time of year we visited. The location was great, close to anything you would need or want to do. Looking forward to coming again.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We were very impressed with this rental property! When you drive up to the front, the house looks small, but once inside you have all the space you need! The kitchen had really nice countertops, an iPod/iPhone docking station that had a great sound system, and modern appliances. The whole house was very well supplied & clean; there were seasonings, coffee & creamer, and filtered water besides the usual kitchen and bathroom utensils & paper goods. There were even toys and books for toddlers which was very helpful! But perhaps the star of the place was the back patio area. A very fashionable & comfortable seating area, separate dining area, and a huge grill made relaxing the day & night away a big pleasure! We were very comfortable and had a great time!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My friend and I came down from Oregon to visit San Diego for both vacation and to see my boyfriend. This house for perfect for us! I love that we could park off the street and the size of the house was perfect. It did get hot and we just left the doors open which cooled down the house. Beds were comfortable and everything we needed was in the house. Great communication with the house owners. For our first time to San Diego, this house made it perfect!! Can't wait to go back and will stay here again. Back porch was perfect and comfy for all of us.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I recently rented this bungalow to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, with a few close friends. The place is really cute and nicely decorated. Off the bat, we noticed that it's much smaller than the photos make it appear. The bungalow has every amenity you'd need: towels, comfy couch and beds, iPod dock, full kitchen, BBQ, patio, etc. We ended up spending 90% of our time on the patio because it was so spacious out there. We were told the place is 3.5 blocks from the ocean. Be prepared for a good 15-20 minute walk, as the blocks are longer, like city blocks. The beach was perfection during the warm weather we had! One thing that wasn't mentioned that I wish was, is how the bungalow is right under the airport flight pattern. This means that starting at 7am till about the afternoon, the planes take off right over the bungalow, which is very loud. It made sleeping in the morning almost impossible. This definitely isn't a reason not to rent the place but just something to be aware of. All in all, we had a nice SD weekend, with no major hiccups.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Tiffany, We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and found our home comfortably stocked. Our beach bungalow was originally built in 1927 and we completely remodeled it (down to the studs) in 2009. Many of the San Diego beach bungalows of that time period are quaint and modest in size. It is very important to us that our guest have the most comfortable stay possible so we were thoughtful in choosing our furniture and creating an outdoor space. We agree with you that our spacious patio is the perfect place to enjoy the San Diego climate. We find Ocean Beach to be a wonderful residential neighborhood and continue to reside here. We love the convenience of having local shops and restaurants within walking distance. We walk to the beach and to Newport Ave for dinner at least once a week and enjoy the fresh air and exercise although we understand some people live in areas where they are not used to walking. There has been talk in the past about moving the San Diego airport inland which was greatly opposed. Many San Diegans overlook the sound of the airplanes for the convenience of the airport’s location in the heart of San Diego. We are so glad you had a wonderful weekend in Ocean Beach. Gibby & Liz

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: This was the first house my husband and I purchased. I am a local real estate agent and my husband is a custom cabinet maker. We put our heart and soul into remodeling this home and my husband did much of the work himself. We continue to live in Ocean Beach and couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
Why the Owner Chose Ocean Beach:
Our home is located 4 blocks from the beach, walking distance to Newport Ave (Ocean Beach’s main street), only 12 minutes from the San Diego Airport and 8 minutes from SeaWorld. You can easily take advantage of the nearby beaches (beach towels, chairs, and toys provided), or make a visit to the San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park or Legoland. There are also plenty of casual and fine-dining choices nearby, plus a grocery store down the street if you choose to cook. Our kitchen is fully-equipped with plenty of cooking gear, new appliances, a coffee maker, toaster, blender, microwave and dishwasher. We also have a BBQ with patio seating outside and a full sized washer & dryer in the house. View our Google map with the property location and nearby attractions and amenities.
