Lani Kai Gardens is a plantation-style farm and estate with beautiful and luxurious guest cottages designed to provide our guests with a unique glimpse into the more authentic side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Once travelers here ourselves, we understand the desire to see Hawaii 'off the beaten path' and want to give our guests a more personal way to experience the history and culture of the area.
We are a ten acre family farm with Macadamia Nuts, Avocados, Lemons, Limes and more! Our garden-like estate provides our guests with the opportunity to enjoy one of the most historic areas on the west coast of Hawaii. Just minutes from Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park and Kealakekua Bay we are close to the best snorkeling and kayaking on the island. We are located 14 miles south of Kailua-Kona--perfect for day trips to visit South Point, Green Sand Beach, Volcanoes National Park and Hilo.
Our guest cottages provide an opportunity to slow down and relax in luxury with newly remodeled cottages that take all the details into consideration. Our goal is to provide our guests with everything they need to enjoy their stay on this magical island--from 4x4 excursions to hidden beaches, advice on the best places to dine and shop and the gear to enjoy the best beaches in style, we are always here to help make your trip a success!
Join us for a long weekend or take advantage of our long-term rental rates--we are looking forward to helping you to create memories that last a lifetime!

Our stay here was absolutely amazing. Everything we could possibly need was provided for us and more. We were given a tour of the property and during our stay were able to watch the everyday work it takes to run a plantation. Even with all the daily responsibilities, this thoughtful family will still find time to give directions or helpful hints should you need them. The location of the plantation is centrally located to many areas of interest on this island. Our one bedroom ohana had everything we needed during our stay, complete with a full kitchen and a bbq on the lanai. We woke up every morning and went to bed every night to the sounds of nature. We feel we have made new friends and look forward to seeing them again soon. Thank you so much for your kindness and generousity!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: It was a pleasure to have you stay with us! You came as guests but left as friends and remind us why we are here--providing authentic experiences and helping travelers get to know the "real" Hawaii. Thank you so much for the fabulous review and for spending your time with us!

We loved Lani Kai Gardens, the Cottage we stayed in was very roomy, beautiful and comfortable. It felt like home. The bed is super comfortable! The smells of lemon and lime trees, the sounds of the coqui frogs, the amazing flowers, trees and lava paths will always be a fond memory. The owners are very friendly, taking us on a tour of the farm, educating us on the history of the property and local area. We learned so much about the fruits and vegetables on the Island, and the responsibilities of a working Macadamia Farm. Within the beautiful estate is a nice Tennis Court and a Pool. We came as visitors, and left as friends - Would love to stay there again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We purchased Lani Kai Farm and Gardens in 2011 with a goal of working together to create something both sustainable and memorable. The first time we toured the property we knew we had found 'the one'. It is a labor of love to return the orchards to their former glory and lovingly restore the cottages, replacing old technology with new and creating an eco-friendly oasis for both ourselves and our guests. We love the peaceful tranquility of the beautiful and tropical grounds and know that you will fall in love with Lani Kai just as we have!
Why the Owner Chose Captain Cook:
This 10.5 acre family farm commercially produces macadamia nuts, avocados and citrus as well as offering two luxurious and eco-friendly guest cottages. Join us and experience all that the Big Island has to offer...both on and off the beaten path.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Our eco-friendly guest cottages are perfectly suited to enjoy all that the Big Island has to offer. We are centrally located about 20 miles South of Kailua-Kona and minutes from the legendary snorkeling at 'Two-Step' and Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park. From your cottage enjoy day trips to Green Sand Beach, Pu'unaluu and Black Sand Beach, Volcanoes National Park and Hilo. We are always here to help plan amazing adventures and to help make this the trip of a lifetime!
