We have rolled back are pricing to 2005 levels. Why? So that hardworking people can still take that hard earned vacation, and know that they got the best deal possible. We feel that our second home is easily the best value for your hard earned money, on Spider Lake, maybe even Traverse City. You get a clean, comfortable house on the lake, a 20' pontoon boat ($250/day value), filled with gas/oil ($90 value), a 3 person, 14' fishing/leisure canoe, and whole bean Starbuck's Coffee for when you awake to the breathtaking views from our deck (priceless). Additionally, we just went wireless, that's right, free WiFi for our valued customers. If you can get the same value for less, anywhere in Traverse City, We'll match it, plus give you a 10% discount for staying with us.

Kick back and watch the sunset from your private deck, overlooking the most desirable view of the All-Sports, Spider Lake! The twenty-nine miles of shoreline are perfect for fishing, jet skiing, canoeing, sailing, swimming, and the thirty-foot private dock has a twenty foot pontoon boat, available June thru October (weather permitting), for no additional cost.

There is not a more beautiful spot in the country, to watch the fall change of colors, and for enjoying the winter wonderland getaway. Step out your front door and enjoy snow mobiling, skating, sledding, and ice fishing. Mount Holiday Ski Resort is a short five minute drive from the house. The two-hundred and thirty-six foot deep lot will easily accommodate your RV with plenty of extra space for parking.

This newly remodeled, cozy home can comfortably sleep six. Lounge in front of the fireplace with twenty-seven inch flat screen TV and DVD player, or listen to your favorite music on the stereo. Light up the new gas grill and cook your fresh caught bass, or prepare a gourmet meal in the fully-stocked kitchen.

The master bedroom with queen-size bed looks out on the lake, and the second bedroom has a full-size bed. The living room has a full-size futon bed, and two futon chairs, that easily convert into twin beds for children or small adults. There is an indoor dining table that will seat four to six people, and an outdoor patio set on the deck.

May our getaway home become yours, full of "Simple Pleasures!"

Why the Owner Chose Traverse City

We think our customers say it best: We want to let you know that we had a wonderful time at your cottage. It really was ‘getting away from it all’. The deck of the cottage is awesome, and it provided a spectacular view of the lake and woods. Most evenings we would cook on the grill and eat outside. We stayed up late every night since it didn’t get dark until 9:30. Sometimes we would light a fire in the ring and roast weenies and marshmellows while taking in the clear night sky and stars. And the pontoon was such a treat! It allowed us to cruise around the lake and take in all the terrific sights. We also rented a jet ski for a few days from Beach Watersports (they deliver right to the lake), and went tubing. My 9 yr old son said he hadn’t had as much fun since Disneyworld. The water was clean and crystal clear - - in fact, in the entire week I never saw a scrap of garbage or debris. We did venture away from the cottage a couple of times to experience the surrounding area. One day we went to Sleeping Bear Dunes for a hike, and then had lunch in the charming town of Glen Arbor. Another day we did a hike at the Grass River Natural area, and followed with a drive up Old Mission Peninsula for a visit to the lighthouse. While on the peninsula, we bought a couple of quarts of fresh picked cherries - - the best I have ever tasted! All in all, one of the best vacations we ever had. Thanks for opening up your cottage for city-dwellers like us-- We will definitely be coming back.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Another happy customer said it all:

Hi Matt and Karen,

We just wanted to write and thank you for letting us use your place on
Spider Lake. We had so much fun we didn't even write in your guest
book.
It was a fabulous vacation. The kids loved every minute and so did my
husband and I. We spent so much valuable family time. I really think
we
are hooked on upper Michigan now. WE are already talking about coming
back.

Your place is set up so well. There was nothing we ever needed. You
have
it all.

Anyway, thanks again. We sure enjoyed ourselves!

Owner's Map of Traverse City

First, I'd like to welcome you to our humble abode. Karen and I looked long and hard to find the perfect place to share with our friends and family. Although we feel that we already live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, we were both drawn back to our roots, a place where we feel at home and at peace.

We'd love you to come and stay for awhile, and experience what we already know to be true. Spider Lake in Traverse City, Michigan is one of the most tranquil spots you'll find on the planet. If you experience a fraction of the serenity that we do when we stay here, then your time will have been well spent. So come join us in our home and rediscover, "Simple Pleasures."

With Warm Regards,

Matt & Karen David

    • Hi Matt and Karen - just wanted to let you know how very much Vern, Kady and I enjoyed your beautiful get-a-way home on Spider Lake. It was everything and more of what we expected. There is something about the moon shining on the lake that makes you want to stay down by the bonfire all night. And we couldn't believe there were no bugs!! We bought all this yard guard and mosquito spray and didn't use a drop of it. It was so quiet at night - all you heard were the geese and loons. We were so happy there were loons on the lake - they are so much fun to watch. The pontoon was the BEST and ran perfectly all week long. Vern caught some real nice bluegills and a beautiful bass which he had to throw back in because he wasn't quite 15" long. Thanks so much for sharing your lake home - was one of the most if not the best enjoyable and relaxing vacations we've had! Already planning our return trip for next August!

    • Hi Karen- I know this is way delayed but I wanted to give you guys a big thanks for the opportunity to get away at your neat place on the lake. Seems ever since we've returned, it's been non-stop, hit the pavement running. Between work, school, and another out of town trip--hence the need to get away. This family literally needs to be forced to sit and hang out. We had movies, we had good eats, we had smores by the firepit. And the dog of course, loved the place. We walked out on the lake. Very cool. Went skiing--a bit cold, the boys had enough after an hour. I think it was about 5 degrees out and some wind chill. Oh well, we loved just hanging out--that's what was much needed. A skill forgotten. Cute place, rustic, cozy, just right. Thanks again! Hope to revisit some day. Sincerely, Kathy Garza, and family

    • Karen & Matt, Thanks so much for providing such a lovely, clean and comfortable cottage. We loved the serene setting of your cottage on the beautiful wooded lot that opens up to a very spectacular lake. The sandy beach in front of the cottage was great for swimming and just relaxing on the chairs in the water. We took many pontoon rides to enjoy the tranquility that Spider Lake offers. We enjoyed going in and out of all the coves and riding around the entire lake. We even viewed beautiful sunsets from our pontoon rides. Our friends brought their ski boat and we tubed and skied around all the islands and had a great time. The lake is large enough that you don't have to worry about other skiers and boaters getting in your way. We also took the pontoon to "Party Island" where everyone anchors and swims around, plays frisbee or just "hangs out". Met a lot of nice people there. The fire pit was a great conversational pit as we watched the full moon rise over the island that is in front of the cottage. Traverse City is a short drive, so one afternoon we spent shopping and then one evening we went to the Turtle Creek Casino. Even though our last day at the cottage was 98 degrees there was no need to turn on the Central Air due to the fact that the trees surrounding the cottage kept it cool. We highly recommend your cottage at Spider Lake to everyone and we look forward to renting your cottage again next July. Thanks again, Diane & Skye

    • We really enjoyed our week in early Oct '05. The weather was fantastic, the boat and lake was great, and the home was superb!!! We look forward to come up here again. The only problem was the Fall Colors were just starting to come on as we drove home. But that is not anything any of us can control. Thanks again for a wonderful time. Dave & Terrie

    • Good afternoon Matt and Karen! I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the great time we had this last week at your cottage! We had a super wonderful time. You have an awsome spot on the lake, and it was better than we expected! The neigbors were nice as well. Paul and barb were super nice as well and answered any and all questions & concerns we had. The boat was awsome, we had a blast tubing, fishing, and cruising the lake! I want to thank you again for the great time myself and my friends had all week long, went by too fast though. We will definately keep you in mind for the future and would reccommend you to anyone who asks. I will also leave feedback on the website soon. Thanks again Matt and Karen, you were very easy to work with and we appreciate that. Thanks!!!!! Steve Simon

    • We stayed at the home for the week of July 4th. What a great time we all had! The house was everything we needed and the pontoon boat was a nice addition to our ski boat. The moonlight rides on the lake and all the fireworks on the 3rd were very special. Everyone there was friendly and we got some good tips in finding nearby groceries, food and gas from the neighbors. We spent most of our time on the water behind the ski boat but we did find time to catch a few bass right off the dock at the end of the day. Our only issue is that the week went too quick!
