Spectacular VRBO experience
Spectacular VRBO experience
This cabin far exceeded our expectations...and we had high hopes! Our stay at the cabin was everything we wanted and more. The views of the surrounding mountains (particularly Mt. Meeker) from the deck are breathtaking. The cabin itself was extremely clean, well taken care of, and had all the amenities we desired. The setting of the cabin is exquisite--secluded, peaceful, filled with all kinds of birds, chipmunks, elk...yet close enough to Estes Park (10-15 min) when you feel like getting out. We enjoyed being at the cabin so much...we only spent one evening (of our week stay) in Estes. There are great hikes nearby (Wild Basin entrance, Lily Mountain, Chasm Lake...all within 10 min. drive from the cabin) but we also followed the creek behind the cabin and hiked several miles into the RMNP. What we enjoyed the most was having breakfasts and dinners on the deck while soaking up the mountain air and relaxing...a true vacation away from the business of life! The owner was great to work with and answered every question we had. She responded timely, and made our 1st VRBO experience, a great one. The cabin's description is spot on. My only hesitation in highly recommending this cabin, is that too many people might find out about it :) We most definitely plan on returning to visit!

Wonderful mountain retreat!!
Wonderful mountain retreat!!
Our family of six traveled from the East Coast to Colorado and our stay at this cabin was absolutely the best part of our 21 day trip. We felt very much at home here, everything was clean and tidy and very comfortable. The scenery is breathtaking, the photos can't even do it justice. We enjoyed beginning our day with coffee on the deck and a beautiful mountain view. We saw many different kinds of wildlife, we were especially excited to see a moose down by the pond one morning. The cabin feels very private and secluded which was perfect for us, the kids could run and play without worry of disturbing anyone The location was great, very convenient to Estes Park and yet not in a "touristy" area. The owner was very helpful and friendly. She went out of her way to answer questions and make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We hope to return to this wonderful spot some day.

With only a few exceptions, for almost fifteen years my wife Carol and I have spent all of June and September in the this Cabin. The location is perfect. Isolated at the end of a good dirt road about a half mile from Highway 7, hidden back in the woods at the base of Mount Meeker, right on the border of Rocky Mountain Park, it is only a short fifteen minute drive north up Highway 7 to Estes Park for shopping, and forty-five minutes east to Longmont. Allenspark is also just south down Highway 7 a couple miles where you will find a couple of excellent restaurants, livery stable, Post Office, and friendly people. The well-maintained and updated rustic 1950s cabin has all the amenities of home: comfortable furniture, satellite TV and internet connection, modern well-equipped kitchen (yes it has a dishwasher and microwave), large roomy loft-bedroom and ½ bath, dining room with mountain views and a table that easily seats 8 with leaf installed, forced air furnace, immense, elevated deck with outstanding mountain views in all directions, and gas grill. There is even a carport under the large deck. Just west of the cabin on the cabin property is a small, picturesque pond fed by Roaring Fork stream. Follow Roaring Fork upstream past small waterfalls through the pine forest up into RMNP about a quarter mile and discover another beaver pond and an unobstructed, breathtaking view of Mount Meeker. From that point, you can bushwhack through the dense pine forest further upstream as far as you like and never run into a living soul. You will, however see abundant wildlife. There are elk, moose, deer, and of course, chipmunks and golden mantel ground squirrels. Bear and cougars are also present, but seldom seen. You can also follow Cabin Creek—just a tenth of a mile south—up into the RMNP forest. If you don’t want to bushwhack and would rather hike on trails, you can access many at the Wild Basin entrance to RMNP just a couple miles south on Highway 7, and the Highway 36 and 34 entrances to RMNP are on the west side of Estes Park and give access to countless trail. Over the years, we have stayed many places in Colorado, but long ago decided that the Casey’s is by far the best we have ever seen. D.L.P. Colonel, USAF (Retired)

Why the Owner Chose Allenspark:
This cabin has been in our family for generations. On a fishing trip to Alaska, my grandfather got a call from a good friend who owned a nearby cabin who told him this cabin was for sale after forty years of ownership by the same owner since it was built in the 1930s. Grandfather loved the area so much, he bought it that day, sight unseen, over the phone, from Alaska. This is where my grandfather taught me to fly fish, where Grandmother annually cursed the hummingbirds that dive bombed her red robe during morning coffee on the great sun deck...the same hummingbirds that made me joyous as a kid when I could get more than six to land on my fingers, outstretched over the feeders. Over the years, family and friends have seen their first elk, bobcat, or even a bear and, more recently, moose near the cabin. My grandfather, who passed away in the 1980s, knew this cabin would be a place for building memories for a lot of folks, some he would never meet. He was right...and I think that would make him happy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Hands down, most everyone loves the spending time on the large sun deck with its spectacular view of Mt. Meeker. From morning coffee or a breezy brunch to afternoon reading or sunset cocktails, the deck is where everyone congregates, chats, birdwatches or simply gazes at the majestic mountain to the West. Hanging out at the beaver pond is fun for all ages and it still amazes us we can just walk out the front door and keep going all the way to the western border of Rocky Mountain National Park (not that it has ever been done since the pioneering days of local legend, Enos Mills!). It is a peaceful and private mountain getaway, close enough to the attractions of Estes Park, Lyons or Boulder, but far enough away to leave it all behind...
