I manage several properties in New Orleans all different sizes with wonderful settings. One is sure to suit you and your traveling partners.
DAN'S SHOTGUN - House on Frenchmen (2 bedroom, but can sleep 7) is just down the street from all the best live music in NOLA. The king and queens beds are super comfortable pillow-top mattresses. There is also a pull-out sofa in the living room and a day bed for one in the front room. An air mattress or two can be inflated if need be. This is a shotgun house, so you do walk through each room to get to the bathroom at the back of the house. Bright and sunny eat-in kitchen with all the usual: full sized frig, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker. Save on a few meals by cooking and eating in some of the time. The key feature of this home is that it is on Frenchmen Street. 2 1/2 blocks across St. Claude. Those not familiar with the various neighborhoods of New Orleans, may not be comfortable in this section. It is, however, just several blocks from the best music venues in New Orleans. I also rent a room in my Bywater home. I try to be at your disposal with questions and/or assistance if at all possible.
WIFI and cable TV
KAREN'S PRIVATE ROOM (within my home) Room in the Bywater is a master bedroom and your own very large bathroom (for one or 2 people). Rates vary on all based on dates you need
A mansion on Magazine Street (4 bedrooms, 3 baths)
$895.00 and up ( I can send link) Sleeps 8 - 10
REVIEW FROM ANOTHER SITE ABOUT THIS PROPERTY
We had a really great experience here! The house was very conveniently located, and super comfy. The hostess was extremely helpfull, and we had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again! If you do choose this house, we highly recommend Gene's poboys down road for a late night snack... it's a little dodgy, but the hot-sausage poboy at 3 a.m. was one of our favorite stops.
others looking for a place to stay in New Orleans.
Could not have had a smoother stay with Karen. While our paths did not cross in person, she was incredibly attentive and available for anything we needed, before, during, and after our stay. Her house is excellent for a small group and was very clean (even had a few complimentary Abitas in the fridge!). As the other reviews say, and Karen would confirm, you'll want to take a cab back after dark the 3-4 blocks from all the action. No big deal. Frankly, you should do that anywhere in NOLA! It was even closer to all the fun spots on Frenchman (Spotted Cat, dba, etc.) than I thought. We had a blast and would absolutely return to her place. Thanks Karen!!
It was a very nice stay in the shotgun house and Karen was really nice helping out. We attended a conference and every morning she drove us there. Thank you!
My husband, brother-in-law & I had a great time in New Orleans. This house worked out very well for us --- lots of room and well-furnished with all that we needed to eat in and chill out. The location had definite advantages, including the available parking in front of the house for one of us with mobility issues, the interesting residential neighborhood, and the easy walking distance to the French quarter. Only drawback was the need, on Karen's advice, to take cabs after dark.
I stayed for 6 nights at Karen's house last week. The house itself is spacious, clean and nicely furnished. Karen was a helpful hostess and was friendly and available to answer questions. When I booked the house I didn't realize that it was in an area which is quite so run down (this was my first visit to New Orleans). All of the bars, restaurants and music venues (which are all super cool, by the way) are on Frenchmen between Decatur and Washington Square. Karen's house is 6 blocks north of there. The 3 blocks below St Claude feel pretty safe. North of St Claude it feels more like the hood: there are boarded up houses and cars with tarps on them and it's pretty empty at night. My friends and I didn't feel super comfortable walking there at night, especially since my Rough Guide book warned against walking more than a couple of blocks away from the main drag on Frenchmen. By day, though, I felt fine and the neighbors seemed friendly. Of course, every visitor needs to decide for themself what they're comfortable with in a city.
House was great. Perfect distance from the Frenchmen scene and an easy walk to the quarter. Parking was always available directly in front of house. ALL the neighbors were very friendly and talkative. We will definitely stay here again. Karen was wonderful and even had a 12 pack waiting on my husband and I when we got there. Great experience overall.

Perfect all the way around
My husband and I went to New Orleans to celebrate his 50th birthday. We stayed at Karen's home in the master suite and couldn't have been happier. The location was great -- safe, quiet neighborhood that was literally just minutes from all the action -- and we had tons of room in a space full of personality. Karen made us feel right at home, even giving us a lift to Frenchmen's Street the night we arrived. We hope to go back for another visit, and would definitely stay with Karen or one of the other properties she manages.

Karen was super helpful and gave us updates on all the goings-on for the day and was very easy to reach. The place was spacious and comfortable- nice outdoor area to sit and have a beer - very quick walk to the quarter. Neighborhood was a low income one which might turn some people off but we felt safe - just take the normal precautions when in an urban environment. Can't wait to come back and visit New Orleans again! - Melissa

The authentic New Orleans experience! Could not ask for anything better!
The authentic New Orleans experience! Could not ask for anything better!
We had an amazing time in New Orleans, the place was perfect and Karen is the best owner we have ever dealt with! When we had car trouble organizing an extra day was as easy as a text message and the nights rent in the key tray. When we were hungover as sin Karen offered to pickup pizza for us! Thanks for all the hot tips while we were there :-)

About: I manage several properties in New Orleans. One should be right for you: a house on Frenchmen Street, a room within my home in the Bywater, and a huge Victorian Mansion also listed here on VRBO (photos not in this listing) Prices for each vary dramatically. They are all in different areas of NOLA and there is something for everyone, depending on your needs
Each of my properties is close to or in the French Quarter They are all different and wonderful in their own way Frenchmen Street house is just a couple of blocks down the street from all the best live music venues! 2 bedrooms but sleeps up to 6 people (king, queen, pull-out sofa and a day bed in front room.)
The Unique Benefits at this House:
REVIEWS Mark First off let me tell you, Karen is great, super great when it comes to the whole booking process, super quick to respond, super quick to offer advice. The place is as described in the pictures (don't forget, shot gun style house, have to walk through the rooms to get to the bathroom).More than enough for two couples, this house fit our needs perfectly. The area around the house, appears a little run down, and for some who are looking for an area that 'looks safe' this isn't it. However, even at night I didn't feel in danger or compromised at all. After a long day we would sit out back and have a few drinks to wind down; while the neighbors watched movies on a projector in the back yard. We did take Karens advice and taxi home at night just to be on the safe side. Parking was easy right in front of the house. May have to work for two spots, but easy enough for one. Laura The house was very lovely and looked just as it does in the photos. A great deal of thoughtful touches, including weekly magazines with recommendations (which Karen was also happy to share), phone number for a taxi, map of the area and toiletries in the bathroom. Really everything you might need is here. The house is located in a maybe not so great area, felt fine during the day, but taxi by night would be advisable. Not far at all from the French Quarter, very short walk (less than 10mins) and closest to all of the great music venues on the south side of Frenchmen Street. Karen was a great host and met us at the property upon arrival. Easy process, all communication was answered quickly. I would definitely recommend to others looking for a place to stay in New Orleans.
