Our home is a large colonial farm home located on five picturesque acres and surrounded by hundreds of acres of farm land. Located 15 miles north of the KCI Airport between Kansas City and St. Joseph, MO, one has access to all the attractions and activities in both cities and everywhere in between.
The home boasts 16 rooms within its spacious 5,000 square feet including:
• 4 bedrooms which comfortably sleep 20 people
• a group room
• library
• dining room
• gourmet kitchen
• two fireplaces
• upstairs gathering room
• courtyard
• and a screened-in porch
The property also features a rustic 3,500 square foot barn. It is perfect for any larger indoor gathering with open space for a barn dance, family reception, or other event.
Open acreage between the home and barn, allows your imagination to run wild. The grounds offer a large, level area that is as large as a professional football field. It can accommodate any outdoor event -- from an outdoor picnic to a football game at a family reunion.
With its location being 15 miles north of the Kansas City International Airport it provides the perfect location for out of town guests coming for any occasion.
It is also close to shopping in Weston, Zona Rosa, Atchison, St. Joseph, and is just 45 minutes from the Plaza. For guests who want to explore the area, we provide a list of restaurants and nearby shopping to make a fun experience as convenient as possible. We are close to several state parks, wineries, historical sites, museums, and sports arenas, race tracks, theme parks, and more.
For those who want to make the most of their time at the home, you may also cook your own meals in our gourmet kitchen or hire outside caterers. We have two ovens, two stoves, two refrigerators, a dishwasher, microwave, and ample counter space. We have dishes and silverware you may use as well.
For groups who do not have a specific agenda, we have books, games, and music that guests may borrow to enhance their experience. Free wireless Internet is available as well.
The house comfortably sleeps 20 adults. Our mattresses were custom-made by Hawn Bedding in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Sixteen of the beds are extra-long twins and the remaining four beds are unique bunk beds with attached stairs and plenty of storage. The extra-long twin beds can easily be joined to create a larger sleeping area.
Take in the fresh air and beautiful scenery that surrounds the home. You will find yourself stepping back into a piece of American history during a simpler time filled with sun-brightened days, warm afternoons in the shade, and natural beauty as far as the eye can see. Whatever the season, the home offers a relaxing and rejuvenating environment.
The home offers a warm, safe, beautiful environment where you can relax, get energized, brainstorm, or accomplish whatever you wish. When you reserve the home for the weekend, or the week, your group is the only one in the residence, which gives you complete privacy. However you spend your time, you can be assured that it will be a special personal experience. We believe your experience will be so positive that finding a reason to come back is all you think about as you drive away.
We do have Cable TV available if requested.
We are not currently handicapped accessible, but plan to be by spring.

Thank you for providing a lovely setting for our day-long work retreat. The home is lovely and Laura was extremely accomodating in providing the needed preparation and set-up. The home is lovely and provided a warm and welcoming environment for everyone. I received nothing but positive comments from those who attended. We are hoping to return in the spring to enjoy the porch and the lovely outdoor surroundings.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Vicki, You are so very sweet. Thank you so much for your comments. We loved having you. Teachers and nurses are so very important. No one would be where he or she is without you! You are welcome to return as often as you like. :) We would love to have you back in the spring. Sincerely, Laura Leibman

The home is gorgeous, spotless, and very roomy. The pictures on their website don't do the property justice. Usually it's the other way around, but this property is so much more brilliant in-person. A must see! It was super simple to make reservations. Plus, you get sooo much included with the rental price including all linens, general cleaning & toiletries, and dishes that serve 25. All included! An amazing escape from the typical rental where you have to bring all that stuff with you. The 2 fireplaces warmed the entire downstairs and kept the house warm and cozy. My family loved it. We had 4 children and 6 adults stay overnight, plus over 50 people total during the daytime on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A great place for large family gatherings with books, magazines, and games furnished as well! We will definitely go back for future family retreats.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

Journey Home was a great location for our company retreat. An escape from the city without driving too far. The home's layout, with multiple rooms available for breakout sessions, was just what we needed. The food prepared by our hosts was fabulous! The dessert....YUM!!! We highly recommend this location and will be planning future events! Thank you Journey Home for your hospitality.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Neiber (women) 4 generation family reunion. 17 of us came from Missouri, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. We loved your home, cooked in the kitchen, explored the property, swang on the wooden swing, had devotions and prayer time in the living room with a fire. Thank you for providing us with a beautiful home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

From the beginning, Laura responded promptly to all of our questions and changes. Words cannot describe what an amazing experience we had once we arrived. Very clean, spacious, and they really have thought of EVERYTHING you could possibly need. All the beds, furniture, and decor were elegant, tasteful, and comfortable, We had 5 families staying there for a wedding in Kansas City, and had the rehersal dinner of over 50 people at the house. The kitchen was SPACIOUS and well stocked... Very comfortable and accomadating. On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 10.5. I cannot thank you enough for making such a memorable time for our family and friends..Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children.
