My husband and I spent 5 nights at Point Cabin, adding a night more than we planned because we were having such a nice, relaxing time. The cabin is cozy, with just the needed amenities, which is exactly what we look for in a vacation cabin. We brought our own canoes, but there are boats available for use. The view of the lake and setting on the point are exquisite! The added bonus is being able to bring our dog, who loved sitting on the porch and watching for squirrels. The lodge hosts are so nice and Linda offers a delicious breakfast. We hiked, spent time in the Boulder Junction shops and my husband fished. All in all, a perfect fall vacation.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: This review refers to Point Cabin which we also own. Point Cabin is located just down the shore from Birch, and is also available for rent from May through October.

I actually stayed at a neighboring cabin, but have been inside this particular cabin on numerous occasions. I can honestly say that there isn't a more beautiful view anywhere than on this point. We couldn't stop looking out at the lake and all of the nature that surrounds it. The cabin is kept extremely clean, is absolutely charming, and has all the amenities that you need. This resort and cabin is one of the nicest places that you will ever stay in the Northwoods. My favorite part of the day was sitting on the deck, watching the sunset with a cocktail in my hand! I can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: Birch Cabin was purchased in January, 2011 by Jean Warrior and Richard Althouse of Verona, Wisconsin. Jean grew up vacationing in lake cabins near Nisswa, Minnesota in the 1960’s. Dick and Jean spent many summer vacations in the Boulder Junction area with their three sons, always seeking but never quite finding, the “perfect cabin.” Although the boys are now grown with families of their own, when they saw Birch Cabin, Jean and Dick knew they had finally found their dream lake property. As clinical psychologists, Jean and Dick know the value of taking a break from daily stresses to unplug, unwind, and re-connect with nature and each other. As nature lovers and silent sports enthusiasts, we have stocked Birch Cabin with nature guides, bike trail guides and maps, paddling route maps, and information on hikes, scenic destinations, and nature education opportunities near Boulder Junction. We invite our guests to explore the undeveloped shoreline of our own lakes up close in canoes or kayaks, and to enjoy evenings gazing at the stars, roasting marshmallows over a campfire, listening for the haunting cry of the loons or tracking down the famous white deer of Boulder Junction.
