This is a wonderful, tastefully decorated log cabin located in a quiet neighborhood where you can seat and relax on the porch with your coffee and watch the morning fog lift from the valley and listen to the birds start the morning with a song. In this stressful, busy world it is so wonderful to find a place like the Heart of Maggie to unwind and get back to nature. Many thanks to Greg and Gina for letting us share in you wonderful cabin and enjoy life in the mountains. The Heart of Maggie is one of those places you can’t wait to get to and hate to leave. Thank you for a wonderful experience and we hope to be able to return again in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at "Heart of Maggie" was everything it could have been. The cabin was clean and everything worked. The sleeping areas were comfortable. The TV is smaller than usual, but who wants to watch TV when the view is so nice! The WiFi access (a priority for our family) worked perfectly. The owners were very helpful and the price was reasonable. We went skiing at Cataloochee, which is just down the road, so convenient (although the ski area was extremely crowded, don't think we'll do that again). Asheville is only about 25 minutes away. This cabin is definitely a good choice if you want to stay in the Maggie Valley area.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I booked this cabin for our 1st anniversary weekend. We planned to go skiing and just get away to relax. We arrived around 8:30 at night on Friday and it was already dark out. The directions to the cabin were wrong (said the house was on Little Creek Road but was really on Little Creek Lane and that the last half mile of the road was gravel, it was paved all the way up to Little Creek). Needless to say we went half way up the mountain and ended up getting stuck in the mud. Finally got out and got turned around and found the cabin. Got in easily and the cabin was cozy. Started the fireplace after reading the directions and we sat down to enjoy when the fireplace went off. There's a temperature gauge on the fireplace that cuts it off after it gets to a certain temperature which takes about 3 minutes then no fire. Takes about 45 minutes to cool down enough to come back on. Then I went in to turn down the sheets in the bedroom to find a huge greasy looking stain on the bedsheets. Gross. So I stripped the sheets and put on some new ones from the closet. On the morning we left I was getting out of the shower around 9:15, went into the bedroom to change and noticed someone walking around outside. I got nervous and called for my husband only to hear someone start a leaf blower. We let it go even though we were surprised by the rudeness and continued packing up. Then at about 9:40, still 20 minutes to checkout, someone else pulled up and parked in the driveway, talked to the guy blowing the leaves, got out of the car, put all the cleaning supplies on the porch and then returned to their car to sit there until we left. I was completely taken off guard by the rudeness. We had to walk out to our car about 4 times to pack up and felt very hurried and invaded on. I was completely dissappointed by the service.Owner response: My husband and I are so disheartened with your bad experience. Although the rental packet's title is entitled with "Little Creek Lane", (the correct address) the content in the body of instructions in one sentence, does say Little Creek "Road" - this has been corrected, although, no one has ever had difficulty finding our cabin in the past. I agree that having a cleaning crew present during your departure is rude and intrusive, this too has been dealt with and I offer apology for the broach in etiquette. I have been assured this will not happen again. In addition, I have instructed our cleaning crew to disgard any bedding that my be substandard in any way, and to purchase new. Your first wedding anniversary should have been perfect, and I am so sad that our sweet cabin could not deliver it to you. Perhaps your second anniversary celebration will be so much more satifgying for you both, Greg and Gina - owners

Me, My wife , kiddo and parents had a very good time staying in the beautiful cabin. All amenities are as described. All photographs are exact. The beds are comfortable. Very good view in the morning. Fresh Air and Pin Drop Silence in the night. Safe locality. Close to the Blue Ridge Pkwy (What a scenic road) . We saw the Ellks. Smoky National Park is a 20 - 30 mins beautiful drive. Over all a very good location. Close to shops (5 Mins drive) but very secluded. Dont miss the Joes Pancakes. Over all - We enjoyed it to the full extent. Thanks for sharing your Cabin with us. We booked this cabin at the very last minute (like, the day before!) as a previously planned booking in Bryson City had to be unexpectedly cancelled by the owner, so a thousand thanks Greg for coming to our rescue! The cabin is in a great location and so comfy and cosy, with everything you could possibly need for a long weekend. Maggie Valley is great little spot, as is Waynesville, and you just have to have breakfast at Joey's Pancake House!! We drove for miles exploring the mountains and national park, and didn't even care when we got caught in a torrential downpour whilst out walking the dog - that's how chilled we were! All in all a pretty awesome weekend and hopefully we'll make it back again sometime soon. The Harrisons (and Bear, one very happy chocolate lab!).Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We wish our family's 2 night visit to "Heart of Maggie" could have been longer. The well-kept log cabin was spotless and equipped with all the amenities of home. Loved the porches on the front and back of the house. The view was spectacular and the cabin was centrally located in Maggie Valley, just as the name implies. This is a rental with personality plus! Our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter lovingly referred to it as "our cabin." The owners were very pleasant and accommodating. Thanks, Greg and Gina, for a memorable weekend.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I loved it here! The cabin was perfect: quiet, clean, and easily accessible. The town had many locally owned stores/restaurants instead of chains. It's close to the many activities the mountains provide. We hope to return!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

First of all, there is not enough room for my review of this wonderful Maggie Valley escape! I spent the 4th of July here with my 3 girlfriends and the worst part of the weekend was that we had to leave! This is the most relaxing place that is in the Heart of God's Country! We woke up in the am to a breath-taking view of the valley as we enjoyed our coffee on the most wonderful rocking chairs made! After a hike or two and a long nap in our own rooms (and beds were great!!) there was a day we packed in the car and drove up the mountain to find a fun little (very freindly) resturant that had an amazing view of peace! Back down to Maggie we sipped on wine back on the wrap around deck as we grilled fresh fish we bought at a local market in Ashville! Taking a day to hit the sites of Ashville we enjoyed fun shopping at great little boutiques and found a wine bar after we hit the hotel that had the biggest fireplace I'd ever seen! After the day was done once again we found ourselves gathered on the wrap around deck playing cards not looking forward to leaving the next day! I highly recommend this wonderful cabin/home in Maggie Valley! I look forward to going back in the winter and then back next summer!! This is a true game changer!! Magical! The pictures are great... but don't come close to doing it justice! Enjoy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our 5 day stay at "Heart of Maggie" and had a hard time leaving!! It is a secluded cabin half way up a mountain, surrounded by trees & with a great view of the mountains from the front porch. A beautiful front deck made it a great place to relax. In the middle of the Valley, it gave us a great central location to visit Cherokee on one end & travel to Pisgah Nat'l Forest on the other end. It is a quaint friendly mountain town with a lot to see. The cabin was especially clean & provided us our "home away from home." We loved it & would highly recommend it. Thank you Greg & Gina!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We knew when we pulled up the drive and saw this beautiful cabin we knew it was going to be a great week. My two boys just loved the cabin and there is more then enought to do in the local area as well as short drives to neighboring areas. However my wife and I really enjoyed the mornings and evening time of sitting on the back deck looking at the mountains and listening to the creek. We have been to many places and even lived in the Rockies but Maggie Valley and especially this cabin is a must see for fun with the family or a place of rest and relaxation. By the way did I mention the 40 lbs of trout I brought back with me. A mountain stream or lake is a short drive in any direction but if you want a fun place where you are guarenteed to land a big trout check out the Soco Trout Ponds just up the road. I could go on but I will close with this. "One of the best family vacations we have had!" Thank you to the owners for making it possible.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a wonderful experience renting this lovely home. The owners were friendly and informative, getting us all the necessary info in a timely fashion. Access is relatively easy, considering this is a mountain cabin. It is a very clean rental, with all the necessary amenities. The neighbors were friendly and there are a number of affordable restaurants in the area, if you get tired of preparing your own. Be forewarned, though. The bedrooms are so dark and quiet and comfy you may sleep in quite late, as we did the first day, so you might want to set an alarm for a wakeup call.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I REVIEWED AND LOOKED AT SOOOO.... MANY CABINS BEFORE I CHOSE THIS ONE. I WAS TRAVELING TO NORTH CAROLINA FOR THANKSGIVING AND WAS REALLY LOOKING FOR THAT TRUE "CABINELY FEELING", AND TO HAVE MY IN-LAWS COME AND ENJOY THE HOLIDAY WITH US . WE GOT OFF TO A VERY LATE START FROM FLORIDA, ENDED UP TAKING THE WRONG EXIT, AND ENDED UP LOOKING FOR OUR CABIN IN THE DARK, THE RAIN, AND NEEDLESS TO SAY, SOME TENSE MOMENTS BETWEEN MY HUSBAND AND I. NOW, MIND YOU ,IN PITCH BLACK DARKNESS, AND THE RAIN, WE PASSED SEVERAL CABINS THAT WE "HOPED" WERE NOT "OURS". WE FINALLY ARRIVED, AND WERE EXTREMELY PLEASED THAT OUR CABIN WAS REALLY AS SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE. IT WAS VERY CLEAN, HAD A W/D , A FULL-SIZE KITCHEN (WHICH WAS GREAT FOR THANKSGIVING), AND STAIRS TO THE SECOND FLOOR THAT AMUSED MY KIDS TO NO END. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NICE AFFORDABLE GET A-WAY FOR YOUR FAMILY, I COULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CABIN ANY MORE. NOT ONLY IS THE CABIN AWESOME, BUT THE OWNERS ARE GREAT ALSO!!! SINCERELY, D.COULTERRecommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We stayed during the peak fall season and loved the view from the front porch. Only minutes from all the attractions of Maggie Valley. Be sure to visit the Ghost Town in the Sky and the Santa Land towards Cherokee. We don't have kids but both were adult friendly and quite enjoyable. The accommodations were comfortable and we loved the dark bedroom, could have slept for days!!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent Memorial Day weekend in the "Heart of Maggie" this year and came away with a wonderful experience and can't wait to go back. Serenity is the best word I can use to describe the cabin and the magnificent setting. I am an early morning person and the view off the front porch is absolutely gorgeous. The cabin is conveniently located yet is very private. We visited Fontana Lake while we were there and it was wonderful. The cabin is comfortable and the warm country decor immediately makes the stress start to melt away. This was a five star experience! There is a local pancake house with fresh mountain blueberry pancakes five minutes from the cabin. The cost of the cabin in minimal for the quality offered.Did you find this review helpful? We loved this cabin! It's located up a beautiful winding road from town, with fabulous views of the valley through the trees. All the comforts of home, very well-equipped, tastefully decorated, and well maintained. It's a cozy little nest. The only problem is that you won't want to leave and go do anything, because you'll want to settle in and put your feet up!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and I had spent a week at this cabin in June 2006. Home would be a more appropriate term than cabin, as it is quite spacious and comfortable. It is a fine example of a well appointed, modern log home. The kitchen allowed us to prepare full meals and compose lunches for the field. The location is secluded and alpine in nature yet it is only short ride into the town of Maggie Valley. We found neighboring Waynesville to be refreshingly eclectic and spent one evening attending a performance at their community theater. The home is a perfect base for excursions across the region. We had brought our bicycles and spent two days cycling at both the Smoky Mountain N.P. and in Asheville at the Biltmore Estate. If we could have, we would have stayed for a longer time. Nonetheless, we even found the drive from/to Chicago to be easily done in a day. We look forward to returning to this home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family stayed in this cabin last year around Christmas time. Our daughter is a Christmas baby so we decided to find a place to take a traditional trip to ski/snow tube. We ran across this cabin on the internet and like anyone else, we only hoped that it was as good as it sounded. There is one reason that I hesitate to tell you how good it really is - we will never be able to book year after year if the news gets out!!!! It is really that good. It is so cozy and clean. I would never stay at a hotel (or anywhere else) after staying here. Noone would be disappointed in this cabin. It feels like home, only better! We took my parents who are "clean freaks" ( I mean that kindly) and we were worried that the weekend could be disappointing for them if things weren't up to par. They immediately focused on how clean the cabin was when we arrived. They talked about how comfortable it made them while we were there. We have just booked our second trip but it will not be our last! We love this place. Please try it but don't take our December spot!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful and relaxing four days at the "Heart of Maggie Valley." We arrived at dusk, and we could see the mountains in a distant haze. When we awoke the next morning and opened the front door, we were astounded by the view. The mountains were breath-takingly beautiful. We sat on the porch every morning to drink our coffee / tea and just absorb the view. The "Heart of Maggie" was the perfect retreat--comfortable beds, impeccably clean kitchen, and beautiful view.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had such a relaxing and romantic week at Heart of Maggie. The cabin immediatlety makes you feel at home with it's wonderful decor, cleanliness and the serene setting on the porch. There is so much to do here and the people in Maggie Valley are so friendly. We drove the Parkway, toured the Smokies, hiked the Appalachian Trail, saw beautiful waterfalls and wildflowers, shopped, golfed, and visited the Biltmore Estate. There are great restaurants, but all the amemnities to cook and grill out at the cabin. Thanks Greg and Gina for a very memorable week. Connie and Bill.Did you find this review helpful? I found this little gem on the Internet by doing a google search for rentals in Maggie Valley. We always have "angst" as we get nearer to our rental when we've only seen it on the internet and believed comments from people like us. Wow, were we so very surprised at the location and cleanliness and decor of Heart of Maggie cabin. I walked in and said, "Draw up the papers, I'm home!" This "cabin" has been well maintained. The roads provide year round access (if you've never been to the Great Smokies, this is a BIG deal!)without a 4 wheel drive. It's quiet. The view from the "back porch" is wonderful. The air is fresh and clean. There is a VCR, but no DVD, with westerns and other movies, and a grill and 2 great rockers and 2 great gliders on the porch. Bring your bottle of wine, a light jacket(even in the summer) and rock and watch the chippies run across the property. Eat at Butts on the Creek for some great barbecue and don't be afraid to try the fried corn on the cob. There is much to do in this area. You will thoroughly enjoy your stay at Heart of Maggie cabin!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had an AWESOME time at Heart of Maggie cabin! Thursday night we had some great N.C. barbecue at "Butts on the Creek". Friday we hiked the Deep Creek Trails and saw gorgeous waterfalls. Saturday we drove to Cherokee then hiked up Water Rock Knob Trail on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The oak and Maple trees were beautiful shades of red and gold. That night we ate at Salty Dogs were we had the most honest, hysterically funny waiter EVER!!!(Food was O.K.) Then we went to watch the National Clogging Competition - AMAZING! Sunday, we had a pumpkin carving contest on the porch with our great frineds J & T. How fun is THAT??Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
