We rented Sea Esta in October of this year, October of 2011, and have it booked for October 2013. It is a wonderful house. We so enjoy our week on the OBX each year. We have been coming to the Corolla area since 2011. Prior to that we would go to the Avon and Buxton area. We drive down from the Boston area. Your house has a wonderful chef's kitchen. My husband does the cooking most of the time, and your kitchen is set up so perfectly. He can be on one island cooking, and we can still be in the kitchen, but not in his way. This year we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving during our week. My brother and his family were with us from Ontario, Canada. The turkey cooked perfectly with all the trim. We had 14 in total, 4 generations together for the first time. It was wonderful. We heat the pool and it is easy for my 86 year old Dad to get to that deck, instead of having to go to the ground floor. He enjoyed the sun and managed to get onto the beach for a few walks, too. Puppy friendly house is wonderful, too. Our Lab, Bailey has shared each year with us on the OBX. He is 12. This year we had to help him up the stairs, but it was so worth it to see him walk the beach, and take a good roll in the warm sand. The house is very comfortable.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

My extended family of 18 stayed in this spacious 8 bedroom home for one gorgeous October week. ISea Esta really is a pretty home with nice decor and lots of sunny places. We loved the enormous wide open kitchen well stocked with appliances, utensils, cookware, etc. The Viking cook top was great! Having two dishwashers and plenty of refrigerator space was great too. The location right on the beach is amazing and convenient--can't beat the views from the dining area. Pool was clean with ample seating around it. Enjoyed many soaks in the large hot tub. Took some wonderful, long bike trips around the area, which was quiet in the off season. Stores do close early though and some restaurants are closed. We are frequent vrbo renters so we have seen the gamut of houses and amenities. The cons that kept this house from a "great" rating were lots of cigarette butts that initially greeted us at side of driveway and beside pool deck shower entrance, dirty stairway carpet, pool table and cues in disrepair (but still had fun use of it just had to share a cue stick), hot tub cover looks like someone dropped a boulder on it, no cleaning products at all, confusing electronics despite manual instructions being provided and most curious of all was that there was not enough TP for all the bathrooms (6 rolls for 10 bathrooms)--called the rental co and they said that is standard? May seem nit picky but it's the "little things" sometimes. Bikes for use would be a nice touch as well so no need to transport. We would return--just feel it needs a bit of TLC and some attention to detail.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the feedback Kelly. We already have in our maintenance plan to replace the carpet on the stairs. Will absolutely add the hot tub cover and the pool table to the list. We are also planning to replace all bathroom flooring, add granite vanity tops, and replace exterior decking around the pool area. We keep a list and add to it based on guest feedback. In February and March we take care of all of the maintenance and special projects for the year.

We had a wonderful vacation! The home is lovely and and didn't lack a single thing. We felt right at home without the need to do extensive cleaning (many times we have had to in other places.) We celebrated my sister's 40th Wedding Anniversary with a formal meal and were blown away with the pictures! It looked like we were at an expensive restuarant. Thank you so much for this opportunity. When we come back to the Outer Banks, we will certainly look this place up. The only negative we had was the pool. It definitely needs a solution for the skimming problem. But it wasn't so bad that we couldn't enjoy using it. Thanks again and best wishes for a properous season.Owner response: Thanks for the feedback! I checked with our pool vendor and the skimmer is working as it is supposed to. The issue this year with the bugs is that the season was very wet; when the lights are left on at night at the pool, the bugs are blanketing the water. This is the first year in 14 years that folks are seeing the problem -- lots of snow and wet weather late into the spring seems to have provided a shot in the arm to the bug population. I wish you had called us -- we would have had our pool vendor make a special trip to help clean them out for you! Thanks again for your good wishes -- glad you enjoyed your vacation and our home!

Sea Esta Is a beautiful, well equipped home. Our group was from five states and ages ranged from 8mo. to 60yrs,and a wonderful time was had by all. We already reserved for next year. We would reccomend a new gas grill, pool skimmer, workable baby gate and a better functioning pool filter and solar cover.Owner response: Thanks Janis -- will put the grill on the list for next season. Even stainless takes a beating on the oceanfront. Ditto on the other items except for the pool cover -- We had a solar cover but found that guests did not want to take the time to cover the pool with it -- it spent the season rolled up on the deck... Thanks for booking again for next year! All the best. Sophia, owner

We have been vacationing at different places/beaches for about 30 years. We have NEVER gone back to the same house twice. Your Sea Esta will be the exception- we can't WAIT to go back. My husband and I, 3 grown children with their spouses and 5 grandchildren, PLUS a baby sitter fit in your home so well! We loved the floor plans, the appliances, the baths in every bedroom, the outstanding kitchen with EVERYTHING we needed for such a large group and the 45 cup coffee maker! You guys have thought of everything. Twiddy was very responsive to getting the outside shower working for us and fixing the hot tub.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We just celebrated our 60th anniversary in your lovely home, needless to say, we had a great time. All of our children and their families were there with us. The Sea Esta was just what we wanted. The boys especially enjoyed the game room and pool table. I didn't expect all of the amenities in the kitchen and was pleasantly surprised. You have done a great job outfitting the house. We will definitely consider a return visit some day. Just a suggestion, maybe you should repair the screens and sliding screens on the doors so they will slide more easily. A maintence check-up would be a good idea. A few of the outside overhead lights are falling out of place. We realize the salt and sand can be brutal on hardware. Thanks again for making a special occasion a great one.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We loved the panoramic view of the ocean from all the windows, the long dining room that could seat all of us, and the comfy living room -- a great place for a reunion weekend like ours. Kitchen was particularly well-equipped and nice for several people to work in at once. Beds comfy, too. You might consider redecorating the red bedroom on 1st floor. Thanks for making it easy to rent your house.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was the first stay for my siblings and myself at the Sea Esta in Corolla for our annual retreat. It was wonderful. The home was exactly as advertised and more. We found it clean well stocked and elegantly decorated. We felt very comfortable and right at home. This is an annual trip and Sea Esta truely shone among previous destinations The proximity to the beach was great..I had the opportunity to run on the beach every morning at sunrise and watch the sun set from my balcony..what more could you ask for. My own personal kitchen should be so well stocked with the latest appliances..although I did wonder why no garbage disposal in such a truly wonderful home. But that was a minor issue. Again everthing was absolutely wonderful. The Twiddy staff was also helpful and extremely nice. We would definitely returnDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
