During the day, follow the bluff path to the sandy beach, stroll through the village shops, dine at fabulous restaurants, or spend the day at one of San Diego's fine attractions. And in the evening, sip wine while watching the spectacular sunset over the Pacific from the balcony off of the master bedroom
Our two-story home is three houses from the bluffs in a quiet, residential neighborhood on one of Del Mar's nicest streets. Downstairs is a large fully equipped kitchen. Here you can have breakfast with an ocean view. Adjacent to the kitchen is an open front room. Behind this is a bedroom with a standard bed and an attached bath with tub and stacked, front-loading washer and dryer. On this level, the large family room with backyard access has a dining area and a wood-burning fireplace on a raised hearth. On the west side there's a step-down bonus room furnished as an office/bedroom with two twin beds. Upstairs are two large bedrooms (the master has a king-sized bed; the second has a queen) separated by a Jack and Jill bath with an over-sized shower. Both upstairs bedrooms have plentiful closet space and ocean view balconies--one shaded, one sunny. Other outside areas include a relaxing front porch, a private back yard, and a patio area with dining table and gas barbeque.
In the summer of 2012, the house was updated with new granite counters and glass-tile backsplash in the kitchen, a new vanity and ceramic floor in the upstairs bath, and freshly repainted. The house has a mixture of carpet, hardwood and saltillo tile floors. There are two flat screen televisions--a 47' in the family room with a blu-ray player and a 42' in the master bedroom.
There is also wireless provided.
There's quick beach access down the bluff on 7th St. and 11th St., used by locals 'in the know,' or we're a six-block walk to the life-guarded street-level beach and grassy park at the center of Del Mar. A less than five-minute drive to the south is Torrey Pines State Beach and Park with beautiful beaches and hiking trails; the Del Mar Race Track is five minutes to the north.
The village of Del Mar is known for its fine dining and unique shops. There is also a lively and up-scale social scene for the evenings. And if you wish to get out at night without the kids, a trusted and responsible local UCSB graduate and now post-grad student can be recommended for child care. The city is very pedestrian and outdoor oriented--everywhere people are walking, jogging or riding bikes. Friendly, casual, and laid back describe the atmosphere of Del Mar and this house. We believe that here you'll have a memorable experience that you'll want to revisit and enjoy again.

We loved this house! We started with six of us - three couples (our first trip when our two children came as couples) and added two more friends for New Years. Beds are amazingly comfortable. I wish our kitchen was as well equipped as this one - large too - we had a great time preparing a New Year's eve meal there. Can see the ocean from upper floor porch and windows - stunning sunsets. Close walk to fun store and restaurant area of Del Mar. Great open spaces to hangout. Owner is very very nice. Internet and TV worked perfectly for our needs. Beautiful area. The one challenge is that you need to walk into the bedrooms to get to the bathrooms. Would love to stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We rented this house in October so we could stay with our out-of-town friends who came in for the wedding of our son as our small condo was not sufficient. It was a great way for the 6 of us to be together for the week of the wedding and a few days after. The location on the ocean is terrific view and the house is as advertized, clean, comfortable, and with good off-street parking, as we had 3 cars to content with. Lovely porch in front was private and we enjoyed coffee there each morning. The owner was able to help us figure out the TV & remote when we called her (I'm not very good even with our own TV sometimes). Del Mar is a such a charming town it was nice to take short walks to the shopping (well, at least the girls liked the shopping), resturants, and the beach. We'd definitely rent this house again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
