Property description

Cove Cottage is located in a small hamlet and is part of a group of 4 properties set around a shared courtyard it has a very quiet seating area within which is a suntrap. Our cottage at Waren Mill which we also use, is furnished and equipped to the same level as our own home, so you can be assured of cleanliness and comfort, new M&S sofas,new carpets recently, lots of fluffy white towels and crisp white cotton bedding. On the first floor is the open plan kitchen/ lounge area, fully fitted oak with Bosch appliances, oven, hob, extractor and dishwasher and fully equipped with everything you need, the lounge area has original oak beams, 2 sofas and various traditional pieces of oak furniture, table lamps for soft lighting, lots of books and TV,HDR, DVD player, gas effect electric fire. On the ground floor are 2 bedrooms, one twin one double, John Lewis beds, lots of hanging and drawer space.Wi fi now available and phone with honesty box as mobile signal poor on some networks.

  • Cove Cottage is 4 Star Gold Award rated by Visit Britain tourist board and was inspected each year by their inspector until 2012 when we withdrew from their scheme however our standards are maintained at the highest level with constant updating and renewal of items every year. All rooms have central heating and were fitted with new carpets/ curtains/ early 2011 / 2012 The entrance hall, bathroom and kitchen have tiled floors. There is a patio table and four chairs in the courtyard for alfresco dining weather permitting. The courtyard is a suntrap even on cooler sunny days. The fridge does have a small icebox. Cove Cottage is located in the most scenic area of the Northumberland coast, 200 yd from Budle Bay part of the Lidisfarne Nature Reserve & 2 miles from the historic village of Bamburgh with it's dramatic castle and miles of unspoilt beaches. There are miles of fantastic walks from the front door, no matter what time of year, it is spectacular ! Visit the Farne Islands from Seahouses 5 miles south. Holy Island is 14 miles north and is a very special place you will never forget so make some time if you can ! not much further is Berwick upon Tweed. Alnwick Castle & Garden are 17 miles south, used as the film location for many films including 'Harry Potter', a very interesting day out. Inland are the Cheviot Hills, unspoiled and stunning countryside leading to many border towns such as Wooler & Kelso, You are within a reasonable distance for a day trip to 'Hadrians Wall' travel by Rothbury ( Gragside National Trust Property) and onto Chollerford for a journey you will not forget.

About the owner: We are Anne & Brian Lawrence mid 50s . We live just outside Newcastle upon Tyne about 50 miles from Cove Cottage. We consider the cottage to be an extension of our own home, so the furnishings and equipment are of a higher standard than you usually find in a holiday home. We like to manage all the booking and cleaning ourselves, to make sure the standard of the cottage does not suffer due to a lack of attention to detail. Our aim is to make your visit as comfortable as possible and hopefully you will leave feeling you have had value for the money you have spent. We get great pleasure from the comments in our visitors book from satisfied guests.

Why the Owner Chose Berwick-upon-Tweed:
Anne spent many happy childhood years on holiday near Cove Cottage, her Aunt's and Uncles had caravans on a couple of sites in the area in the 1960s, When Anne & I were 17 years old we used to come to the area in my first car, every time we drove past the houses at Waren Mill I would say to Anne ''I would love to live here' and so it was in 2005 we came across Cove Cottage by chance whilst looking for an investment for our pension income. When we walked through the door the first time we just got that special feeling this was the place for us, not just a holiday let, a special place!
