Salida Vacation Sep 9-16 2013
Salida Vacation Sep 9-16 2013
Our overall experience with this property was great. We have stayed in Salida 4 times before using local motels. Sharon and Dave's property was a vast improvement over motels. The property offered all the amenities and was well maintained. It was the perfect base from which to enjoy all the activities Salida and the Arkansas River Valley have to offer. The patio offers a nice view of the mountains and a relaxing place to sit after a days activities. It is close to downtown and the fine restaurants and shops. The owners were very hospitable and its obvious they take pride in their property. I have no hesitation recommending this property and would readily stay here in the future.

Owner response: Thank you for staying with us, we are so glad you enjoyed being on the mesa and in Salida. We love it here too! We find that all of our guests love being here and find a lot more value here than staying in a motel any day! Our kitchen is fully stocked for eating in, or you can take a short walk, bike ride or drive to downtown to enjoy the great restaurants and local color. The weather is changing, ski season is right around the corner. We are still having beautiful warm Salida days, and the fireplace is stocked with wood and ready to go for those chilly nights that are coming. Hope to see you again!

We have a family of 4 with 2 children: 3 and 1. This house was perfect for us. The king size bed accommodated the 2 little ones and both adults when they got scared in a strange house. The layout is perfect for a family vacation and the enclosed garden area allowed the kids to play outside without worrying about the nearby street (at all). It truly is a beautiful place and we are so glad we found it. Downtown is about a 15 minute walk and if you go the right way, you can take a beautiful bike path for most of it. We will definitely try to stay here again.

Owner response: So glad you found us! We agree, taking the bike path into town is really a nice walk or bike ride. Our location is perfect for privacy and quiet, and at the same time very close to downtown Salida. Fall is quickly approaching, soon it will be time to enjoy the cool nights with a fire in the kiva fireplace. We still have openings in October & September, come see us!
Perfect, private getaway home
Perfect, private getaway home
My husband, teenaged son and I really enjoyed this vacation home. It's very private, quiet, well located and very comfortable! Don't let the futon give you pause, it's thick and very comfy to sleep on. The home is close to downtown, has lovely views, and we got a kick out of watching the Scottish cattle wandering around the mesa. You'll want to take the patio and the view home with you. We'd certainly recommend this rental to others, and would like to stay here again ourselves. Hopefully soon!

Summer is still here, just a tint of gold starting in the aspens. The days are still beautiful and hot! September and October are a great time to visit Salida. Come see us!

Owner response: Thank you! So nice to have you here! Glad you enjoyed our private little guest house on the mesa. Our courtyard is in full bloom, the Scottish cattle are grazing in the meadow down below the house, summer is lovely here. The nights are cooling off and we've had lots of much needed rain. Soon it will be time for a fire in the kiva fireplace! Salida is great in the summer, so much going on downtown all the way into September, see you soon!

Owner response: Thank you! So glad to have you. We love seeing people walk & bike the short distance to downtown, via the bike path or straight into town. Just to clarify, our little guest house is available by donation only, we are not a true rental! None the less, we enjoy having people here and sharing the great views and peace and quiet! Summer has been beautiful and not over yet! We still have some days open in August, come see us!
I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay! I have told everyone I know about this place and encouraged them to check it out. IT was better than staying at a 5 star hotel...beautiful accomodations-- my favorite part was waking up to the cows in the pasture. Priceless! A great weekend away with mysix year old. I will definitely be back soon! Thanks Sharon for making us feel so at home, I could have stayed forever!

Summer has been busy here, but September is coming right up, with more beautiful days and cool nights. It's still a lovely time to visit Salida minus the crowds! We still have some openings in September, come see us!
What a nice guest house
What a nice guest house
My kids and I planned a rafting and atv trip in the nearby area so we stayed for two nights. It was inviting, comfortable and a relaxing experience. The owner was so nice, the guest house was clean, well maintained, and just minutes to downtown Salida. I'd definitely stay here again, and would recommend it over a hotel/motel any day!

Owner response: Thanks for staying with us! Summer is so busy and so fun here, so much to do! The river is running high, lots of great music downtown, the choices are numerous. Our guest house is minutes to downtown, but also quiet and private, we suggest taking a little quiet time in our secluded courtyard or unwinding in the hammock just looking at the mountains!
What a great guesthouse! Sharon was a delightful hostesss and her guesthouse was everything that was advertised and more. Salida is a great place for a getaway.

Two friends and I stayed in the "casita" and loved it. There is a nice view of some mountains from the 6 large front windows, and from the little balcony off the upstairs bedroom. It is not a loft, but a real upstairs, with a king size bed, and a very spacious bathroom. Downstairs is a futon, that looked to be queen size. We took turns sleeping on it, and all agreed we got our best night sleep there for some reason! Everything looks new, and nicely decorated, with attention paid to details. I would, and have already, recommended to some friends.

Why the Owner Chose Salida:
This property was completed in the summer of 2012 and is a true Salida Gem. I have been building custom bungalows in the downtown Salida area since 2003. My passion is for creating comfortable, simple, elegant, sunny and healing spaces. We both have a deep love and appreciation for beauty, and are happy to be able to share this with our guests. This guest house is special for its incredible spacious views while being right in town. The quietness and open skies offer a wonderful respite from the rest of the world. Our guest house was designed for our visitors, we know you will love it!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love our guest house for the views, the peace and seclusion, the beautiful summer gardens, and the horses grazing in the meadow down below the courtyard. All of my Salida Gem houses have a very special feeling about them, from the fun, easy to use kitchen, the kiva fireplace,to the spacious bedroom with a view. We love being able to walk downtown for dinner and a great concert. The people here are the best!
