Our house was designed by renowned architect Richard Wheeler of San Diego. He took maximum advantage of the ocean setting, lining both upstairs and downstairs with 4X8 foot panes of glass. The house sleeps 6 comfortably with two recently upgraded Kings, and downstairs a double and two (kids) singles.
La Mission is a small, gated, patrolled beach community with restaurants close by.
As you step off the patio into the soft sand, look both ways. There is a mile and a half of enjoyment in front of you. We prefer the walk to the North. It is like being on your own private beach.
If you are a volleyball enthusiast, like I was, there is a court just to the right on the beach. Nets are found under the stairs. Just bring your ball!

I wanted to take a minute to say we had a great Easter vacation. Our younger kids really appreciated the Easter egg hunt when they arrived. They could not figure out which eggs had the pesos, the pennies, or the polished stones. That was very thoughtful. We were able to make some nice contacts at the Orphanage in the valley. Our friends had told us that they had also volunteered on their last trip. We had fun helping out. We loved the new ping pong/ pool table. We spent quite a few evenings with some very competitive games. We boogie boarded with our friends that stayed up the beach. Their kids are about the same age. With all the excitement, the ocean did not seem that cold for March. Your setting right on the beach is ideal for a family vacation. I hope we can make it back over the summer. It was wonderful!! Thanks! StephanieRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

As I am sitting on my porch watching the sunrise it reminded me of the great sunsets when we visited your place in La Mision. In Florida, we get some great sunrises, but not sunsets. Looking down the waves from your house really enhances the experience. We were fortunate to get a tee time to play the ocean course at Baja Mar. It was quite a challenge. Maybe it was the libations on the 9th hole that did us in. We arrived back at the house in time to watch a number of players play the 16th hole at Scottsdale. Sunday we hosted a brunch for some of our old friends from Rosarito. They loved the shrimp kabobs on the Barbie. We finally settled down to watch the Super Bowl. Five East Coast Raven fans bantering three SF. fans. It was a great game for a change. We want to visit that wine country. We will be back for a longer stay next time. GO RAVENS! Thanks, JimRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, adventure seekers.

Hello Dick & Aracely: We had a terrific time at your beautiful home. As described it is RIGHT ON the beautiful white sand beach. Thanks for the list of suggestions for the area with Spanish translations. We went to your recommendation of the fish market in Ensenada and filled up on the $1 smoked marlin tacos. We also shopped for souvenirs in Ensenada and had a great day. One day, David and Lyle played golf at Baja Mar, then came home to watch the Golf Channel. We loved having such good TV programming while in Mexico. We really enjoyed the brunch at the La Fonda Restaurant at La Mision. Fantastic! We also took your suggestion and visited the Guadalupe Valley and did some excellent wine tasting on the "Ruta de Vinos". One day we all walked to the South end of the beach where we found Cocos and Pico de Gallos. We girls took a horseback ride back to the North end of the beach. They were very nice and brought us back to the house. Now that we have found you, we plan on returning during football season to watch the games on TV and enjoy your house at La Mision. Thanks again, Maryann and LyleRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

This amazing house couldn't be in a better location . . . Offering privacy in a small gated beachfront community close to La Fonda, the wineries, and Ensenada. The views from inside the house are incredible, and the back deck sits inches from the sand. The house was clean, and, Dick, the owner, even had someone come in before our arrival to hook up DirecTV so we could catch the Thanksgiving weekend games. Better still, Dick gave us a write up on the area packed with information and reviews about local stores, wineries, resturants, and a local cheese factory. We've been coming to Baja for years, but we learned much more from his suggestions then we had discovered ourselves on previous trips. I would highly recommend this home. I know we'll be back! Thank you Dick, for making your home available to us, and for all of your assistance. Your kindness really made our trip!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

About the owner: This has been our weekend home away from home for some time now. Living in San Diego, it is just a 45 minute drive down the toll road to the house. Watching the dolphins feed just before a magnificent sunset, with you favorite beverage in hand, you forget about work week that you just finished. By listening to the crashing waves as they lull you to sleep, you return to the States invigorated, refreshed and ready for a new week..
Why the Owner Chose La Mision:
If you are looking for lots of people, loud music, and younger bars - Rosarito (20 minutes North) is more suited to your taste. Ensenada (25 minutes south), on the other hand offers a fabulous fish market, reasonable fish tacos and lots of shopping. Please, visit both nearby cities and see why we like our quaint little spot on the beach in between them.
Also if you prefer a pleasant wine and cheese tasting tour, Guadalupe Valley is a scenic 25 mile drive through the hills to the south. Check with Ricardo.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
If you like football or soccer, you don't have to miss any of your NFL games. The family can enjoy the beach while you keep track of your favorite team.
To this day our resident Historian, Charlie Wild, 86 years young, tells us about the days before the toll road, electricity and the telephone. He says, 'Those were the good 'ol days'
Of course we have to imagine how we could have lived without the wireless internet, Gas BBQs and our Satellite dish.
