Fabulous location. The house is quaint but needs to be updated. New bath sink and clean out the drawers to make it look neater, get the doors to close and put curtains on the main bedroom window. The neighbor can see right in. Good for the price. Regards, George I IRecommended for: Sightseeing.

We had an amazing three-month stay in this architectural landmark - a 1949 all-metal house known as a Lustron. It has been restored so well, and is chic and totally comfortable and user-friendly. The owner is incredibly generous and accommodating, intent on her guests having a great stay. The location is ideal - a few minutes from some of Atlanta's best restaurants, walking distance from banks and a grocery story, and a four minute drive from downtown while also just a hop skip and a jump from Buckhead. We were making a film while in town, and staying in a hotel after working long hours wouldn't have been nearly as worthwhile as having this house to come home to. I was nervous about what it would feel like living in a metal house, but I shouldn't have been. It's a perfect cozy retreat. No negatives whatsoever.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

I rented this lovely property to spend Thanksgiving holiday with family. The property is gorgeous and perfectly decorated to period. We did not have any amenities missing. Can't say enough about the location... everything is extremely close and easy access to anything from shopping to tourist venues in the Atlanta area. Sarah was attentive and a terrific host checking periodically with me to ensure we did not need anything during our stay. Would highly recommend this property for any stay in the area. I will definitely be staying here in my future travels to Atlanta.Owner response: You are so kind to write a review. I appreciate you staying at The Lustron and you are welcome back any time!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: We are a local couple that was raised in Atlanta. This location is perfect and was our home for 8 years. With lots of TLC and loving care, we rehabbed this house from being a 'tear down' to a TREASURE! It has been featured in several national magazines because of its unique characteristics. It it totally made of metal. That is right....metal. It is called a Lustron. This home was built in 1949 so travelers need to understand what they are renting. A forgiving person who can ignore a little draft. And as a disclaimer this is on a busy road so there can be street traffic.
Why the Owner Chose Atlanta:
I was born here, went to college here, started a thriving business here, and found true love here. But I’ve been to many other cities and countries and believe, wholeheartedly, that I live in the best city in the world.
There’s just so much to do whether you love culture – museums, galleries, theater, music, nightclubs – or are drawn to more outdoor activities like hiking, biking, strolling through historic districts and/or checking out all the modern marvels. And it’s family friendly as well – zoos, children’s museums, and the Georgia Aquarium.
Totally one of a kind. We hang our photo with suction cups and magnets. This property is on the National Historic Register.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
On the National Register of Historic Places, this one-of-a-kind all-metal house is situated in the southern-most part of Buckhead, one of the most expensive zip codes in Atlanta; but, because it is practically in Midtown, the area’s nicknamed “Bucktown.” In addition to having the convenience of a two-car garage, the backyard is cute, and the front porch affords great privacy.
A little backstory: over the course of eight wonderful years living here, we rehabbed this unique house from being a near “tear down” to a sparkling treasure that’s been featured in several national magazines. Given that it was originally built in 1949, be advised there may be the occasional draft. Also note it is on a busy street, so there can be traffic – but those are the only two downsides compared to innumerable upsides!
