After an exhilarating day of skiing, snow mobiling, snow shoeing, fishing or backwoods trekking, come back to a place where you feel right at home. Here in a quintessential Vermont town, The Old Mabel Guernsey Place, one of the most historic and charming homes in Rochester village, features two bedrooms, one with a king bed (convertible to twins), another bedroom with twin beds, a full bath, large living room, eat-in kitchen and sunny day room. It sleeps four with plenty of room for a crib or roll-away bed.
The living room has a large TV, high speed internet and WiFi. The suite is spacious, sunny and tastefully furnished with antiques. Enter through the large garage and into a mud room where all your winter parkas and boots can be stashed. Or come in through the front porch, stopping to lounge while enjoying Park views on a lazy summer day.
There is a washer and dryer in the second bedroom. No detail has been overlooked. Feel like staying home tonight? The fully-equipped kitchen has every appliance and necessity to prepare a gourmet feast. Prefer to eat out? You are within walking distance of a restaurant, a cafe and a bakery.
Hundreds of acres of the Green Mountain National Forest provide excellent opportunities for winter and summer sports. Located right off Route 100, “The Skiers’ Highway,” you will be a short drive to Sugarbush, Killington, Pico and the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. For snow mobilers, the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers’ trail system has miles of fun.
Come in the spring when the White River, running right through Rochester, is a fisher’s dream. Bikers find a haven in Rochester, as they pass through from north to south or east to west. Hiking is the best in Central Vermont. Hit the Long Trail or the many other trails throughout the Green Mountains.
Hot and tired at the end of a summer day? Refreshing swimming holes abound and tubing is a favorite sport for kids of all ages. Several excellent golf courses are within easy reach. Horseback riding is nearby, as are public tennis courts. In autumn, leaf peepers' breath is taken away while driving every direction through mountains and valleys.
A stone's throw away from your front door is Rochester's four-acre Park where you may luck into one of the many concerts or other activities that make the town so special and picturesque. Just beyond, to the west, the Green Mountains provide a backdrop, changing with the seasons. Across the Park is Pierce Hall where theatrical productions, dances, concerts and lectures are frequently staged. Stroll around town… there’s an excellent food market, library, hardware, auto repair, post office, yoga studio, convenience store, health center, pottery studio, banks and churches. Or grab a creemee on the corner and sit on a bench under the maple trees and enjoy the delights of life in a small, vibrant town. Rochester is 'kid-friendly,' and families feel a part of this safe and caring community.
Middlebury College and Dartmouth College offer cultural programs throughout the year and are within easy driving distance. Being at the very center of the State of Vermont, museums, shopping, antique shops and numerous attractions are yours.
Old Mabel Guernsey is one of six suites. One bedroom and other two bedroom units are offered.

Our family has stayed at Old Mabel Guernsey several times, both in the summer and winter months. It is a very comfortable, spacious apartment that is set in the idyllic town of Rochester. The location is convenient to skiing at either Killington or Sugarbush, just a half an hour to either mountain. The apartment faces the town park, and there is a market, cafe, bookstore, library, restaurant, and country store all within easy walking distance. In addition, the apartment comes with a garage and a well-equipped kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be coming back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Both my husband, Brooks, and i have a passion for old buildings. We bought and renovated this historic building because we love living in Rochester and wanted all the homes around its Park to look beautiful.
Why the Owner Chose Rochester:
It was the last of the beautiful Nineteenth Century homes surrounding the Park that had not been renovated. Now our town center is picture postcard perfect!
