The home is 2.2 MILES FROM THE CENTER OF RIVER STREET (Bull & Bay).
A large benefit of our home is that there is FREE PARKING! 4 spaces in the driveway and tons of off-street parking.

Very unique home, that held 6 of us very, very comfortably. We had more than enough space. Bedrooms are great size for using pack-and-play, beds are SUPER comfortable. The one full bathroom that I thought would be a problem, wasn't a problem at all. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING you could ever need is already there for you (roasting pans, wine glasses, utensils, seasonings, pots/pans...it's all there. The house is located conveniently outside of historic district - it took us about 10 minutes or so by car to get downtown. I was a little concerned about the location when we arrived but having spent a week there, we quickly realized that the neighborhood was full of friendly Southern hospitality. The owners were highly responsive to a couple minor requests and showed up within minutes on Thanksgiving Day to help resolve a pilot light issue for the fireplace. There is a beautiful but tall staircase to keep in mind with young children. We brought a safety gate just in case but ended up not needing it as our toddler abided by our rule not to climb the stairs. Plenty of space, beautiful and unique (and quiet) chickens in a coop behind the home, cozy, clean...it was a great place to spend the holidays with my family. Highly recommend!

The home is exactly what I thought of when we were planning our trip to Savannah. 14 foot ceilings, the original plaster moulding, sweeping stairway and wrap around porch. The area is deceiving. There are some buildings that are boarded up, but the people who live in the area are friendly. The large amount of parking was definitely an asset. Would highly recommend.

Great Family Home!
Great Family Home!
We stayed here with our family. We were concerned that the property was too far from the historic district, but upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised. It was less than a mile to the sites. The upside to this home is that there is tons of free off street parking as well as space for 4 cars to park in the driveway. There were some dilapidated buildings around the corner, but all the neighbors were nice and we didn't have any issues. If this home were located in the historic district it would easily rent for triple the price. The owners were kind and available for any questions we had

We had an amazing time at this house!! Jennifer was amazing and more than accomodating. The house was a short distance to all the restaurants and shops and we never ran out of hot water even though we had 12 girls :). I highly recommend staying here.

I arrived, along with the rest of the bridal party, on September 6th! Our family requested to not only stay but also put on the wedding reception, that weekend, in the back yard. The house is comfortable, well maintained and stocked, as well as large, which helped us tremendously as we all came from out of town for this wedding. I really wanted to have morning coffee, upstairs in the screened porch, but the bustle of a wedding and reception, prevented me from finding time for that, but it is a delightful area. There is so much room in this house, that several different conversation areas were available during the reception, as well as a quaint backyard, complete with chickens! I highly recommend this for your next vacation spot!

Absolutely perfect girl getaway. We had the most amazing time! And the house is like something out of a magazine. HUGE! And full of shabby chic decor. It is located minutes away from downtown Savannah, so it was really easy to get everywhere. We will definitely be back!

Great Home - lots of space!
Great Home - lots of space!
We just had one of my best friend's bachelorette party in this home and it was a hit. Lots of space for all 10 of us and we were able to enjoy almost every part of this home to is fullest extent (to my knowledge, we completely forgot the hammock area existed once we explored.) It was a lot of fun. My only negative feedback was about the neighborhood. Had I known the kind of area this was in before we showed up, I would have probably voiced some concern. There were boarded up houses around the corner, some sketchy characters walking the streets and some distinct odors that we encountered when we went on a run the first night, and we made a point of being home before dark. I didn't feel unsafe in the home at all, but there were definitely some areas we ran through on the way to Forsyth park and when we walked home from downtown (trying to sober up, not the best idea) that I was very uncomfortable with. I wish this house was in a different neighborhood, but it was beautifully decorated (except for the beautiful, yet kinda unsettling sheer curtain in the bathroom) and the beds were cozy. Super soft QUALITY linens. We were out the door right at 10am (which, is a bit early, in my opinion, but what can ya do?) and Jennifer's friend was waiting out front for us to leave. While she was extremely nice, it kind of gave a feeling of "okay, it's 9:55, get out" - but she was so sweet I didn't really get too bothered by it. I actually do this type of thing for a living and this home was exactly what I would expect from a VRBO listing. Thanks for letting us hang out, Jennifer!

Owner response: Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for your feedback! I encourage everybody to read all of my reviews because the downside of our home is "The Neighborhood". In stating this, I do not feel it is a bad area (we lived in the home for 3 years and had no problems), there are just some homes that have been boarded up as well as others that are being renovated. If this home were in a different neighborhood (i.e. the historic district) the nightly lodging would be upwards of $1000.00. I am so happy to share our home at a reasonable price, but people must understand the trade-off -- it is in a "transitioning" community. Also, I don't recommend that people walk (or run) to the historic district from our house - it is a long haul if you consider the fact that you will be walking around all day once you get there. Regarding the sheer curtain in the bathroom - there is a heavy brown velveteen curtain that is bound right on top of the sheer. All you need to do is remove the curtain tieback and the room is completely blocked from the outside. I apologize for the 10:00am checkout time - due to the fact that we are usually washing about 8-10 loads of towels and linens, we just have time to get it all done before the next group checks-in.
Perfect for Girl's Getway
Perfect for Girl's Getway
I rented this fabulous home for our annual girl's weekend. We have seven women and we were very happy with the home. Plenty of place to visit at the dining room table and living room and comfy beds for all. The charm of an older home is amazing and we loved the high ceilings, woodwork, staircase and details of an older home. We enjoyed visiting with the chickens and borrowing the bikes for a bike ride around Forsyth Park and the squares. It was an easy bike ride to the historic district - but we were glad we rented a vehicle to visit the Savannah area. The downtown would not be within walking distance for our group but it was only a few minutes by car or bike. Jennifer was wonderful and provided us helpful tips on making our visit memorable. We would stay here again if we came back to Savannah.

Wonderful Victorian Home
Wonderful Victorian Home
I invited 9 people to stay in this house over a 3 day weekend; however, I was surprised when 12 people showed up. This house truly will sleep 12 comfortably (we stretched it to 13). We had every bed full! The home is absolutely lovely. The staircase is a great place for a photo op! The wrap around porch is nice and relaxing, as well as the hammock on the upstairs screened in porch. The grounds were well maintained. There was enough space in the driveway for 3 vehicles, including a truck and a van. The linens on the beds and the towels were clean and soft. There were plenty of clean coffee cups and utensils for everyone to eat and drink as they pleased. Fresh eggs from the chickens were waiting on us when we arrived. The neighbors were friendly and one guy told us to turn our cars around to avoid a ticket which was very helpful. The home isn't within walking distance from downtown, but since I live in Savannah, I knew my way around. Its just a couple of turns to get to the historic district. No one had any issues finding the property. Cab fare was pretty cheap back and forth to river street as well. Jennifer was a pleasure to work with, and she helped me work out issues while I was in Afghanistan. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend this home.

Not shabby cheap - Quaint and charming
Not shabby cheap - Quaint and charming
I was part of the group that stayed 2 nights in August and a member of our group wrote a less than sterling review of this home and called it shabby cheap. My husband and I are more seasoned travelers and have stayed in MANY hotels, private rentals, cruise lines etc. This home was in a neighborhood that was not as centrally located and depending on the way you came back to the house you may be a little concerned because there were many boarded up homes, but the street was quiet and I never felt unsafe. The furniture was comfortable and the air conditioning was a blessing since it was 90 degrees and 97% humidity outside. This was an older home, but to me it was very nice inside and I'm sure the owner will continue to update the home. Minor things that are expected with older homes such as layers of paint on the doors and trim, creaks in the floor and weird layouts in the kitchen, but again it is an older home. I am not sure if I will return to Savannah as I expected it to be more condensed like Annapolis, but if I did I would come back in the winter and I would see if this property is available. Price was great and we had another property booked, but had to cancel as we had 3 other family members join us and the previous booking could only accommodate 4. This home could accommodate many more and we were not nickel and dimed on deposit, cleaning fees and extra person charges. An older home is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I was satisfied with our stay and wish everyone in our party was as happy as my husband and I were. Only issue we had was the way the shower curtain was installed and cut across the shower and would stick to you. I loved the fluffy white towels and on demand water heater as we never ran out of hot water.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your response. This is a great review for people who are up in the air about staying in an old home. It was built in 1899. It has all the original details, but has been updated to accommodate the modern person.... New central heating and air, gas fireplace insert, on demand hot water heater, plumbing, etc....., but as you stated, there are layers of paint, old floors and the kitchen, though fully stocked, does have a galley layout. Thanks for bringing my attention to the shower situation. I will figure out a plan to change this. Unfortunately, the attic is accessed by a pull down ladder that is right above the shower - this being the reason we haven't changed it... but we will indeed look for a solution. Many people ask how close the home is to the "historic district", as you noted. Savannah is much larger than what most people think. Our home is about a mile from the SE corner of the historic district... The up-side to staying in our home is that you don't have to worry about moving your car (or multiple cars) to a different meter after the time limit has expired, you don't have to get up early to feed a meter at 8:00 am either as we have free off street parking to accommodate 4 cars (if parked diagonally) as well as tons of free on-street parking. Even if you stay in the historic district, you will most likely, at some point, want to drive somewhere or take a cab. Thanks again for your feedback! Jennifer

About the owner: I have lived in Savannah for 7 1/2 years in the Victorian District. I love it here! The area is up and coming and ever-changing. The residents and homes are beautiful. I manage 3 rental properties that I own - also in the Victorian / Midtown area.
Why the Owner Chose Savannah:
This property is magical! This is the quintessential 'Savannah Victorian' people are hoping to find when they come to our town. It is nicely located as to take advantage of the historic area as well as the new 'hip' restaurants in the midtown area. It is just outside of the hustle of the city. The breeze blows through the live oaks and its great to have the large backyard space to chill out and create your own memories.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This home is not stuffy! It's not decorated in fine antique furniture, its relaxing and fun! Come in and don't worry about breaking grandma's china. I have it set up with board games, table games and outdoor activities. We want you to have as much fun in our home as we have had creating it!
