Martha: I grew up just north of the Stuff Home, so it was so great to stay there when we came to my niece's wedding Sept 15th. The restoration is so nicely done, and the accommodations are so comfortable and pleasant. Eleven in our family stayed overnight. Having known the Stuff's quite well, being in the home brought back many memories. The flower gardens were well maintained and the plaque with the ownership history was a nice addition to the garden. Roger: Sorry it has taken us a month to write a review. We felt honored to be one of the first guests to stay in this beautiful home.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you Martha & Roger, we are very pleased that your “wedding visit” at Hillcrest Farm was both comfortable and memorable for you and three generations of your family. We are happy that your grandchildren were able to experience and enjoy the uniquely American country lifestyle of generosity and caring of the Pine Creek community where you grew up. Since you had visited Clifford and Helen at Hillcrest Farm as a child, it is special that you and your family were our very first guests! We look forward to future visits for the holidays and family weddings/reunions; so, please think of Hillcrest Farm as your home-away-from-home whenever you are back home in Illinois. Welcome Home! Be well, Jerry

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1905
Why the Owner Chose Dixon:
Hillcrest Farm was established in 1905 when John Parkinson Starner and his bride Orpah Susan Faulders Starner purchased the farm; and, built the homestead in 1906. Our family homestead has been lovingly and carefully restored for a glimpse into the American farm life at the turn of the twentieth century.
The Starner-Stuff nine room homestead with original woodwork, parlor doors, dining room pass-through, and period antique furniture rests on 100 acres of farmland, woods, and rolling pasture with flowing creek; and, is the perfect setting for a Victorian country wedding, a relaxing get-a-way, and a romantic weekend.
Located just six miles north of President Ronald Reagan’s boyhood hometown of Dixon, Illinois, you can follow what your heart desires most at Hillcrest Farm – from strolling through the gardens, watching an awesome sunset, lying in the pasture behind the barn stargazing at the milky way, rocking on the front porch, reading, resting, relaxing – there are endless possibilities; and, the only blackberries you will find here are the ones in a pie cooling in the kitchen window!
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
Step back in time to Christmas 1905, to experience a more innocent time in American history. Enjoy Hillcrest Farm's Victorian Christmas 1905.
