The resort is just 1.5 hours west of Banff (145 kilometers) and 2.5 hours west of Calgary (270 kilometers) on the Trans-Canada highway. •Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (KHMR) is a ski resort located 14 km outside of Golden, British Columbia. It features what is currently the fourth highest vertical drop North America, at 4,133 feet (1,260 m). The resort was named after the nearby Kicking Horse River and Kicking Horse Pass, although the resort is in the Purcell Mountains while the Kicking Horse is across the Rocky Mountain Trench in the Rocky Mountains. •Six National Parks surround the Resort – Banff, Glacier, Kootenay, Yoho, Mt. Revelstoke and Jasper. •The slopes are well known for the light and dry snow, dubbed Champagne Powder. •85 inbound chutes, vertical drop from mountaintop to the village is 4,133 feet (1,260 metres), making it the second highest in Canada. •Gondola - The 11,266 foot (3,413 metre) ride takes 12 minutes. •Canada’s highest elevation restaurant, Eagle’s Eye, is situated at the top of the mountain. It stands at 7,705 feet (2,350 metres) elevation and can seat 130 indoors. Kicking Horse Ski TerrainThe gondola accesses CPR Ridge, Crystal Bowl and Bowl Over. Crystal Bowl is large and open, providing intermediate skiing and is the easiest way down from the gondola. Bowl Over is also open but much steeper and often has more moguls than Crystal Bowl. In 2007, a trail was made to allow for advanced intermediate skiing into Bowl Over. CPR ridge is situated between the two bowls. One side of the ridge, the Crystal Bowl side, provides some of the 75 inbound chutes available at Kicking Horse. These chutes range from advanced to expert skiing. The other side of CPR Ridge is a series of glades. Stairway to Heaven is a fixed chair lift that is situated at the bottom of Crystal Bowl and accesses White Wall, Feuz Bowl and Redemption Ridge. White Wall is a quick hike right of the chair and is rated expert skiing for some rock bands and large cornices. Feuz Bowl is advanced skiing, quite similar to CPR ridge. Stairway to Heaven follows Redemption Ridge. On one side are chutes into Feuz Bowl and the other side is a series of glades back into Crystal Bowl. Terminator Ridge and Terminator Peak are situated on the left side of Bowl Over. On the left side of Terminator Ridge the slackcountry can be accessed. On the right side a few steep, narrow, expert chutes come back into Bowl Over. Accessing Terminator Ridge is difficult and the hike is anywhere from thirty minutes to well over an hour, depending on fitness. ...morecollapse

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this beautiful home in Kicking Horse Mountain Resort! The layout is well thought out with lots of space for many to stay comfortably, and the numerous windows in the front and back give you amazing views of the mountains from almost anywhere in the house. The ski-in / ski-out is perfect and being on the hill allows for everyone to enjoy each day at their own pace. Great gourmet kitchen and a 50 inch TV Heated floors in the bathroom. The hot tub is really nice and felt great after skiing all day. Walking distance to restaurants/bars. The owners were so easy to work with and quick to respond!! Highly recommend!!

Excellent Attractive and well maintained property
Excellent Attractive and well maintained property
We stayed at this gorgeous Kicking Horse property for one week in February 2013. It has a very convenient ski in and ski out location. The owner has built an excellent boot and glove dryer that easily accommodated our 9 sets of boots at once! The views and furnishings are lovely and there is a well appointed and laid out kitchen. The property was very clean and well maintained. The owner is very helpful with advice and terms. We have used Vrbo many times and this home has been the best yet.

Amazing time in Kicking Horse
Amazing time in Kicking Horse
The perfect ski in ski out vacation home. Has everything you need and more for a group or family ski vacation. Great location, we didn't have to leave the house if we didn't want to. Gorgeous lay out and great views with the ski hill at your back door. We couldn't have asked for more. We travelled with our 2.5 yr old, another couple and 2 other friends. There was plenty of room for everyone and the hot tub was the hi-lite at the end our ski day. Mary Beth was wonderful to deal with and answered all of our questions. She even gave us a heads up on a couple of things before we arrived so we wouldn't be caught off guard. We will definitely stay again.

A group of us stayed here over New Years 2012 and had a wonderful time. Beautiful property and very well maintained. The property is one of the few truly ski-in/out homes at the resort. The owner was incredibly easy to deal with and communicated in a very timely manner.

Had a great stay here. The house is amazing and the proximity to the mountain is perfect. The ski out lands right at the back door. Could almost ski right into the hot tub if you wanted to. We had a great time and are definitely planning return trip next year.

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: My husband and I fell madly in love with Kicking Horse on our first visit in 2002. At that time all that was available was gondola and the Eagles Eye restaurant. Before we left Golden, BC we had purchased a lot and were one of the first families to build a home on the mountain. Kicking Horse is still relatively unknown and there are many days when my husband is the only other person I can see on the ski trail. With a 15 min gondola ride to the top of the mountain there are plenty of chutes, trees and open fields to keep you entertained. At the end of your ski day you can ski right up to the garage door and kick off your skis/snowboards. In the summer we find taking the gondola up to the top and hiking the ridges to be one of our favorite adventures along with a stop at the Eagles Eye for a gourmet lunch. We hope you enjoy our home and the mountain as much as we do!
