The dazzling views of Lake Como, the jutting promontory of Bellagio, and the not-so-distant Alps are memorable. When this visual bounty is seen at sunset, as you will from Zaffiro, the effect is magical and transfixing. Located in a neighborhood of equally impressive lakeside villas, Zaffiro sits within a gated garden (2000 meter) of cypress, cedar, oak, wisteria and jasmine. The villa rests on the outskirts of the refreshingly non-touristy town of Lierna, on Como's eastern shore. Zaffiro offers a generously open living, dining and kitchen area that expands onto two full furnished terraces, one facing the lake and the other the garden, just beyond the garden lies the town's rocky beach (direct access from the Villa). Parking is free at the property.
Ground level: Main entrance. 4 Bedrooms and 3 bedrooms en suite, Laundry.
Upper Level: dining, living and kitchen area.

This was one of the nicest villas and locations I've stayed in. Set in a small village on the edge of Lake Como, this fantastic villa exceeded our expectations. It's the first time I can honestly say that the photos do not do the property justice. Set on a huge section, with large back yard and plenty of room for outdoor games, parking etc. Open the front gate, walk across the path and you're on the edge of the lake - prime waterfront location! The villa itself feels homely and welcoming. It's finished to a high quality and provides all the mod-cons one could want when on holiday. Large bedrooms with ensuites, open plan living with cosy couches, fireplace and large kitchen / dining room. Plenty of room for our 8 adults. Only one critism is the cost of energy to run the property - we stayed for 7 days during the winter and the cost was an additional 230 euro on top. We were told electricty costs are very high in Italy, but came as a surprise. Putting that aside, I would highly recommend the accomodation to groups and families alike. Close to all amenities, top quality accomodation and spectacular vistas across the lake and surrounding peaks.Owner response: We are really happy that you had good time and you did like the property, but I just want to explain that your extra cost were not just of electricity that cost to you 29.20 euros, but the main cost was for the gas for heating 202,80 euros to mantain a huge house at 23°, in the coulder moment of the year. I hope to see you all again in the future. Ciao Stefy

wonderful lakeside location - literally out of the garden gate and on the beach. good restaurants in lierna - one, owned by the people who own the villa staright accross the road - excellent. owners very friendly and courteous Lierna a 10 minute (flat) walk - small shops, bars and restaurant, Lierna is not spoilt with tourism, still very italian. not much for young adults / teenagers in the evening (suited us !) the villa was very clean and well equipped, although the garden furniture could do with some additions (only one sunlounger for example) if we return to Lierna we'll look to stay here again - a terrific two weeksRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

Perfect holiday house situated at the lake. Fantastic to just walk out of the gate and have a stretch of pebble beach in front of you and a breathtaking view of the lake. There is a small pizza restaurant within a stones throw which serves great pizza and ice creams and friendly service. The kids and adults alike adored the situation of the house. The garden is huge and very private with a massive sun terrace at the back. Evenings can be spent drinking wine on the terrace with the lake view. There is a barbecue but we didn't use it as we couldn't be bothered to clean it beforehand. The house was very clean and well maintained. We took our own beach towels, however bath towels are provided as stated. The only negavtive thing was very thin bed sheets so a few times we were quite chilly at night. We are just used to our feather duvets!!!!!! Or take warm pajamas!!! You can easily walk into the village to buy bread and groceries and the supermarkets are reached within 5-10 minutes by car. I would definitely recommend Varenna, Bellagio (which can be reached by boat from Varenna). Lecco is also nice and Bellano which has an outdoor public pool (Lido). The restaurant opposite the house (owned by the meet and greet contact) is worth a visit for a special meal, however, it is not cheap! The pasta is out of this world! I would definitely recommend the house as we had a fantastic week with glorious weather.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.
