Bakersville lodge description
An idyllic setting to get away for a week, a month, or even a long weekend. Although there is plenty to do in the area, the best feature of this home is the solitude available if you choose. The home is nestled among pine trees looking out over horse pastures and fishing ponds to a view of Roan Mountain.
The wrap around decks on both levels of the house have semi-private alcoves (off 3 bedrooms) with stellar views and the peaceful sound of a running creek. The A-frame great room (upper level) or the game room (lower level) each with a stone fireplace are perfect gathering places when you are ready to spend time with family or friends. There are 5 bedrooms and 3 ½ baths giving you sleeping space for 12. A self-inflating air mattress can add sleeping space in the event someone doesn't want an upper bunk. The great room has a big screen TV with surround sound, a well-stocked DVD library, Blu-ray and Satellite Direct TV. There are also plenty of books, games, and puzzles to complement the official size pool table that can be converted into a ping pong table. An outdoor fire pit gives guests that camping feel. A large patio offers a stellar view and family gathering amenities. There is plenty of parking on upper and lower level. Fully equipped kitchen on upper level, with mini-kitchen on lower level equipped with icemaker, microwave, and sink. Washer and dryer in master suite. House trained dogs welcome (limit 2). No cats or exotic pets.
The areaoffers plenty of wildlife to observe, hiking and trout fishing, tubing, horseback riding, skiing, hiking, antiquing, art & craft festivals, gem mining, multiple local art studios, Water activities at nearby Lake Watauga w/pontoon, ski-boat, and jet ski rentals available. Other outdoor activities are available in the area including picnicking and swimming at Roan Mtn. State Park. Beech Creek is centrally located between Asheville (about 1 1/2 hour drive) and Banner Elk (1 hour drive) for a visit to the Biltmore and other Asheville attractions or Sugar or Beech Mountain for skiing. “City life” in Asheville or Johnson City. Many restaurants and shopping in local communities.

What a fabulous place!
What a fabulous place!
The pictures do not do this cabin justice. My house is not as well stocked. The furnishings were comfortable, the rooms were decorated with country antiques and had a wonderfully homey feel. We had a family Christmas at the cabin. There were tree farms nearby and our grandchildren picked out a tree, brought it home and made decorations for it. The children loved to call to the horses in the pasture nearby as they walked to one of the stocked ponds to fish. It was so peaceful there and the surroundings were breathtakingly beautiful. The owner was very accommodating and helped us out right away when we had a problem with one of our vehicles. We will definitely recommend this serene place to all our friends.

Great Remote Location
Great Remote Location
Wonderful home with very tasteful mountain decore and privacy. All of the rooms are well appointed and cozy. The gated neighborhood is a beautiful little valley. Well outside of normal tourist locations so if you are looking for a place to get away from everything this is a good option.

About the owner: I grew up in Western New York, near Buffalo. I lived in Florida for awhile but love the climate, seasons, and family values of the Carolinas. I currently own a small business in nearby Burnsville, NC called Off The Beaten Path. I sell books, art, and antiques. I recently relocated to Buladean, where the Beech Creek development is located from Charlotte, NC where I spent close to 16 years as an investment manager. My boys are in college, but I have two dogs: Margo, a yellow lab, and Rusty a Golden Retriever. They love to run and swim and have plenty of room and opportunity to do both.
Why the Owner Chose Bakersville:
I love the mountains and built my dream home almost 6 years ago. The location is ideal to me because it is gated, has great views, and is close to many of the activities my 3 boys and I enjoy such as hiking, rafting/tubing, skiing, antiquing, festivals, and the amenities of city life from nearby Asheville, NC and Johnson City, TN such as plays, great restaurants, museums and much more.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
My favorite room in the house is the family room with the A-Frame windows that offer a spectacular view of Roan mountain. I was looking for a home that had mountain views and a babbling brook that I could listen to. It was hard to find, but I have both. I love the sound of rain on the tin roof but can still sit outside on the covered decks. The patio and fire pit offer outdoor living with a camping feel, something my kids and I loved to do while they were growing up. Our home is nestled in a grove of pine trees, so not only do we have good shade, but the wonderful scent of pine and being in the woods.
